The moment Kanae saw Ryuya, her throat tightened.
A thousand words surged to her lips, and she almost rushed forward without thinking.
But in the end, she forced herself to stay rational, suppressing the impulse deep within her heart.
Sakonji Urokodaki followed the gazes of Sabito and Giyu Tomioka and locked onto Ryuya, whose demonic presence eclipsed the battlefield.
Although Ryuya was Upper Rank Four, based on Urokodaki's long experience hunting demons, he was undoubtedly the most terrifying of the three.
"That Ryuya uses Moon Breathing. Moon Breathing has an extremely wide attack range, so be extremely careful."
Giyu provided the intelligence, and the Hashira immediately began analyzing how to deal with Ryuya and the other two Upper Rank Demons.
"Doma, Upper Rank Two, uses fans that release ice crystals. If you inhale them, they invade your lungs and interfere with your Breathing Technique."
"The Moon Demon's attacks carry a blood-freezing effect if they hit you. Be extremely careful—don't even let them graze you."
Sanemi Shinazugawa supplied the additional warning.
"Does anyone have information on Upper Rank Three?" Jigoro Kuwajima asked gravely.
"Not certain."
The Hashira answered in unison.
At this moment, they stood completely united. There was no room for error. They focused solely on sharing intelligence.
Ryuya wasn't in a hurry. He allowed them this chance.
Even if they discussed tactics beforehand, what difference would it make?
He didn't bother sharing information about the Demon Slayer Corps or individual weaknesses with Akaza and Doma. It was unnecessary.
This was absolute confidence.
After exchanging intelligence, the next step was assigning personnel.
Ideally, they would split up and handle each Upper Rank Demon separately.
Nine Hashira against three Upper Rank Demons.
Jigoro Kuwajima pondered briefly. As the eldest and most experienced among them, he made the call.
"I, Jigoro Kuwajima, Sakonji Urokodaki, and Himejima Gyomei will engage Upper Rank Four, Ryuya!"
"Giyu Tomioka, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Kochou Kanae will engage Upper Rank Two, Doma!"
"Rengoku Shinjuro, Sabito, and Uzui Tengen will engage Upper Rank Three!"
"Yes!"
No one objected.
Although Sanemi clearly wanted to face Ryuya himself, he obeyed without complaint.
Kanae quietly let out a breath of relief. At least she wouldn't be fighting Ryuya directly.
"Since there are no objections, begin!"
The instant Jigoro's voice fell, he had already drawn his Nichirin Blade and shot forward like a bolt of lightning, streaking across the Void Realm toward Ryuya.
"Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap and Flash!"
"Water Breathing, Third Form: Flowing Dance!"
Sakonji moved like flowing water, ripples forming beneath each step.
"Stone Breathing, First Form: Serpentine!"
Himejima Gyomei advanced, his massive arms swinging his flail and axe in coordinated arcs that converged on Ryuya from opposite directions.
Three lethal techniques struck at once.
Ryuya seized the moment, drawing his own blade and activating Moon Breathing.
"Moon Breathing, Second Form: Flowing Moon!"
Crimson crescent blades erupted outward, intercepting Jigoro's aggressive charge.
Without hesitation, Ryuya inhaled again and shifted his stance.
"Moon Breathing, Fifth Form: Moon Spirit Calamitous Eddy!"
Crimson moon blades laced with smaller golden crescents spiraled forward in a roaring vortex, colliding violently with Gyomei's flail and axe. Metal clashed against metal in a deafening storm of sparks.
At that same instant, Sakonji closed in and swung directly for Ryuya's neck.
"Water Breathing, First Form: Water Surface Slash!"
A sweeping arc of water surged along his blade.
Ryuya had no easy avenue of escape—
"Blood Demon Art: Lotus Ice!"
Doma intervened.
His golden iron fans folded and snapped open as pale blue ice crystals bloomed in the air, freezing toward Sakonji's blade.
"Wind Breathing, First Form: Dust Whirlwind Cutter!"
Sanemi roared.
His Nichirin Blade whipped up a violent gale, green wind blades spiraling into a tornado that tore across the ground toward Doma.
"Oh my, why so impatient?" Doma laughed lightly, redirecting his Lotus Ice to counter Sanemi's attack.
The whirlwind devoured the ice crystals, shredding them midair.
Seizing the opening, Doma leapt back, preparing to widen the distance and activate another Blood Demon Art—
"Flame Breathing, First Form: Unknowing Fire!"
A streak of blazing red cut down at the back of his neck.
Shinjuro Rengoku descended in a diagonal slash, flames roaring along his blade.
"An ambush? How unfair!"
Doma narrowed his eyes and snapped his golden fan behind him.
"Blood Demon Art: Scattering Lotuses!"
Ice crystals scattered outward.
Don't inhale them—it will disrupt your breathing!
Shinjuro's pupils shrank. Instead of forcing the decapitation, he shifted priorities and cleared the ice.
Flames surged hotter.
"Flame Breathing, Third Form: Blazing Universe!"
The raging inferno evaporated the ice crystals into steam.
Doma retreated further.
Ryuya, after parrying Sakonji's Water Surface Slash, also leapt back to create distance.
"Young Master Ryuya, these Hashira are rather entertaining—huh?"
Before Doma could finish, Kochou Kanae's blade struck.
Pink sword aura converged to a precise point and thrust toward his face.
"Flower Breathing, Fifth Form: Peonies of Futility!"
Ryuya moved instinctively to assist—
"Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap and Flash—Double!"
Jigoro transformed into a bolt of lightning, altering his trajectory midair for a two-stage assault aimed straight at Ryuya's neck.
"Moon Breathing, Sixth Form: Eternal Night, Lonely Moon!"
Ryuya reacted instantly. Rapid slashes layered crescent blades into a defensive wall, sealing the space before him.
"Water Breathing, Eighth Form: Waterfall Basin!"
Sakonji had already vaulted above him, blade crashing downward like a plunging waterfall.
"Blood Demon Art: Vine Lotuses!"
Ice-blue vines burst forth, whipping toward Sakonji like frozen serpents.
While Doma moved to relieve Ryuya's crisis, Kanae pressed her assault without mercy.
"Flower Breathing, Fourth Form: Crimson Hanagoromo!"
