Chapter 4 - The Mishearing Maniac… Is the Great Dendro Archon?!

The fan-creation livestream finally ended—

but its shockwaves rippled across every corner of Teyvat.

Mondstadt — Knights of Favonius Headquarters

"So that's it? How anticlimactic."

Lisa sprawled lazily across her desk, closed the livestream window with a soft hum, and stretched—her figure swaying temptingly with the motion.

Considering what had just happened with Mona…

The Sumeru scholars were probably on the verge of collective meltdown right now.

Especially the ancient old Akademiya fossils.

Oh, she would gladly pay Mora just to see their beards puffing and their eyes bulging in scholarly outrage.

"But still… what is that livestream? And who exactly is this Mishearing Maniac?"

Jean rested her chin on one hand, brows knit in concern.

They had only just resolved the Dvalin crisis—

and now a mysterious global broadcast appeared out of thin air.

If this was the beginning of a new disaster…

Teyvat might be pulled in whether it liked it or not.

As the Acting Grand Master, Jean's headache began to bloom once more.

Mondstadt — Confinement Room

Klee, of course, had no such worries.

As she tinkered happily with her next batch of bombs, she sang in her sugary voice:

"Freedom ain't just for show~

It's my confident flow~

Niu-ma disco, let we dance~

No work tomorrow~~!"

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Pure innocence. Pure destruction.

Mondstadt — Angel's Share Tavern

Kaeya, Venti, and Rosaria sat at the counter as usual, glasses in hand.

"A world that's just a game?" Rosaria muttered dryly, swirling her dandelion wine.

"That's hilarious. I'd sooner believe Barbatos himself is a drunk."

Her long legs crossed, fishnet stockings catching the dim tavern light—drawing more than a few wandering glances.

Kaeya leaned back, raising his glass with a lopsided grin.

"Well, whatever the truth is, we live in the present.

Here's to another day of youth gone.

Let Death After Noon be our elegy."

Venti giggled. "Right, right! Drink today, for tomorrow may never come—cheers~~!"

Whether it was a dream or a game didn't matter.

Even dreams left strings of emotion behind.

Dragonspine

"Master Albedo… is our world really a game? Some kind of… artificially constructed reality?"

Sucrose tightened her grip on her notebook, voice trembling slightly.

If everything was predetermined…

Did their work mean nothing at all?

Could gods simply define the world at whim—joy, sorrow, meaning, existence?

Albedo studied the blank screen, jotting down notes with a serious expression.

"Whether it is or isn't must be proven through evidence. Through data."

He looked at her firmly.

"To abandon one's dreams because of a few provocative words—

that is no different from the drunks who waste away in Mondstadt's taverns."

He would pursue the truth.

He would decipher the meaning of this world.

And when everything was complete…

He would reunite with his master.

That was the purpose of his creation.

Inazuma — Grand Narukami Shrine

Beneath the Sacred Sakura, Yae Miko rested her cheek on her hand, eyes sparkling mischievously.

"Ahh, I wonder how Ei will be trolled next~"

Would she dance like Mona?

Go fishing while shouting "I'm soaked!"?

Or perhaps cause an explosion mid-cooking stream?

How delightful.

"But…" — her gaze sharpened — "can it truly… resurrect the dead?"

If this fan-creation livestream could bring back those who had fallen—

Kitsune Saiguu…

Raiden Makoto…

Then—

Plane of Euthymia

"Achoo! Who's talking about me?"

Raiden Ei muttered, biting into a skewer of tricolored dango, expression still stern.

No need to guess—

it was surely that fox again.

Next time they met, she would start with a slash.

That vixen would dodge anyway.

"Mmm… delicious."

Chomp.

Watatsumi Island — Coral Palace

Gorou and his forces were still discussing the livestream.

"It gives real rewards… If we can use it to strengthen our troops, we might finally resist the Vision Hunt Decree."

Gorou frowned deeply.

If this thing could grant power—

could even grant new Visions—

They might finally have hope.

Sumeru — Avidya Forest

"I know who the Mishearing Maniac is!"

Tighnari suddenly declared, startling Collei so much she nearly dropped her bow.

"M-Master Tighnari? W-who is it?"

He spread his hands, speaking with calm certainty.

"As you know, Sumeru scholars stay connected to the Akasha System.

By wearing the Akasha Terminal, we access knowledge through the network."

He gave her a meaningful look.

"Doesn't this livestream resemble the Akasha?

Only stronger—able to link all of Teyvat instantly.

And who could have created something like that?"

Collei gasped.

"Master… you mean—?!"

Tighnari nodded solemnly.

"Exactly.

The Mishearing Maniac might very well be Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, the former Dendro Archon!"

Liyue Harbor — Wanmin Restaurant, Private Room

"Cough—cough—ack! I'm choking! Water!! Where's the tea—?!"

A handsome young man gasped for air, face red as he downed a full cup in one go.

"Hah… damn it! I was eating Steamed Black-Back Perch, not a live crab! Nearly died—what rotten luck today…"

And that handsome, nearly-choking young man—

was none other than the protagonist of this tale: Bai Hao.
