At this moment, on an island not far from the Grand Elder's residence, Goku was attempting his fifth breakthrough.
Ever since Vegeta's departure, Goku had clearly realized one thing—
If he didn't become a Super Saiyan, he would never be able to catch up to Vegeta.

Three times…
He attempted a breakthrough almost every half month.
Each attempt ended in failure—until now.
In these two and a half months, Goku's strength had grown by leaps and bounds. At the very least, he was certain that his current base form was no weaker than Vegeta's back then.
"This time… I have to succeed!!"
Gritting his teeth, Goku focused with absolute seriousness, pushing his aura to its absolute limit.
A terrifying surge of ki shot into the sky.

He desperately hoped Goku would succeed, but after so many failures, doubt inevitably crept in.
Krillin didn't realize that what Goku lacked was no longer strength—
It was extreme emotional ignition.
In the original story, Goku's transformation was triggered by Krillin's death.
Without that explosive rage, simply pursuing higher power made breaking through incredibly difficult.
"Dad will definitely succeed," Gohan said firmly.
"His aura this time is even stronger than it was half a month ago."

His body trembled violently.

Vegeta's image filled his mind.
He imagined their next meeting.

He refused to fall behind again.
He wanted to stand before Vegeta—as an equal.
"Break through!!"
His power surged violently, smashing through the invisible barrier that had blocked him for so long.
The snow-white aura around him ignited—
Then slowly turned golden.
Hope lit up the faces of Krillin, Gohan, and Nail.
Golden aura—
The unmistakable sign of a Super Saiyan.
Within Goku's body, something ancient awakened.
As the Saiyan energy underwent a qualitative change, all of his power surged instinctively toward a point deep within his back.
A place that devoured energy.
Ever since training with North Kai, Goku had vaguely sensed this spot.
He once believed it to be a fatal weakness.
Now, he realized the truth.
This wasn't a flaw.
It was the key.
"So that's it… that's how it works! I already grasped it before—I just never noticed!"
Understanding flashed through Goku's eyes.
The chaotic aura stabilized.
The golden light completely enveloped him.
Within that core, power surged like a volcano on the verge of eruption.
"HAAAAAH!!!"
A thunderous roar shook the land.
Goku's power exploded outward.
The world itself seemed to tremble.
Under the blazing golden light, Goku's black hair turned gold, standing rigidly upward.
His eyes shifted to a sharp emerald green.
Super Saiyan — First Stage.
Achieved.
"This… this is Super Saiyan power! So strong… unbelievably strong!"
Goku laughed in exhilaration, feeling the overwhelming energy flooding his body.
Even a thirty-times Kaio-ken from before couldn't come close.
This wasn't a temporary amplification.
This was a qualitative transformation.
Calming himself, Goku took a deep breath and clenched his fists.
"Let me test it properly!"
His movements became blurs.
Fists and feet cut through the air, leaving visible ripples in space.
Every motion carried world-shaking force.
When he stopped, Goku stood tall, golden aura flickering calmly.
"With this power… you won't underestimate me anymore, Vegeta. I may not have surpassed you yet—but I've caught up."
Absolute confidence radiated from him.
Unbeknownst to Goku—
Just before this breakthrough, Vegeta had already perfected Super Saiyan Full Power.
They were still not in the same realm.
"Next time we meet… I'll defeat you. I'll train even harder!"
At that moment, familiar voices pulled Goku back to reality.
"Goku! You finally did it!" Krillin exclaimed, rushing over.
"Your aura is even stronger than Vegeta's was back then!"
"That's amazing, Dad!" Gohan said excitedly.
"With this power, even Vegeta will have to be careful!"
"Congratulations, Son Goku," Nail said sincerely.
"With this strength, you can handle whatever comes next."
Goku grinned, maintaining his Super Saiyan form.
"I've only just begun," he said humbly.
"I still need to stabilize this state. Now I really understand how much effort Vegeta put in. I'm not as good as him… yet."
Other World — North Kai's Planet
North Kai sensed the surge in Goku's ki and immediately observed the breakthrough.
"So this is your Super Saiyan, Goku… impressive. Even stronger than Vegeta was when he transformed."
His words drew the attention of Piccolo, Tien Shinhan, Yamcha, and Chiaotzu.
Bubbles and Gregory hovered nearby.
And—
Standing proudly behind them—
The entire Ginyu Force.
After earning special permission, they had been assisting with training in the Other World.
Even in death, their strength had improved.
When the image of Namek Planet appeared and Goku's aura was felt—
Everyone was left speechless.
