"There's no need for me to personally deal with opponents of the Ginyu Force's caliber."
As the words left his mouth, Vegeta's eyes narrowed slightly, filled with amusement.
Krillin and Gohan's expressions shifted again and again.
"But didn't you promise the Grand Elder of Namek?" Krillin asked.
"That means you'd be deceiving them. They already helped you fulfill your wish," Gohan added, clearly standing up for the Namekians.
Vegeta scoffed. "I did promise to protect Planet Namek. But that has nothing to do with whether I personally take action.
Fulfilling my promise is a given—but since Namek isn't in danger, and the Namekians aren't being threatened, why should I actively go out of my way to kill a few ants?"
As he spoke, the scrutiny in Vegeta's gaze grew sharper.
He continued without hesitation, "With your current strength, you're not a match for Ginyu—but his subordinates are only slightly stronger than you.
In other words, you should be thanking me for giving you such good opponents. If your strength increases but you don't have strong enemies to fight,
then what's the point of getting stronger? Without experiencing real battles, you'll never truly become strong."
Krillin and Gohan were both stunned.
What Vegeta said made sense—but something still felt wrong.
"Wait," Krillin said, still keeping his head clear. "I won't deny that what you're saying has logic, but setting aside that strongest evil aura, there are five of them.
Even if Gohan and I have grown a lot stronger, there are only two of us. Are you telling us to go throw our lives away?"
Knowingly fighting an opponent you can't defeat was the same as seeking death—at least in his eyes.
More importantly, he wouldn't recklessly drag Goku's son into something like that.
"There are five of them—so what?" Vegeta sneered. "If you don't even have the courage to face enemies like this, then what are you still doing on Planet Namek?
Oh, right—you still need the Namekian Dragon Balls. So you plan to hide in the back, do nothing, wait for me to clean up all the enemies, and then enjoy the rewards without lifting a finger…
Hmph. If that's the case, that's truly disappointing."
Vegeta's mocking expression cut deep.
They had taken the benefits, said the right words, and in the end wouldn't have to pay anything—yet still expected the Dragon Balls.
Krillin's face darkened, and Gohan looked the same. Despite his young age, he understood exactly what Vegeta was implying.
"Uncle Krillin, Vegeta's right," Gohan said firmly. "We have to do what we can too."
Hearing that, Krillin knew he couldn't continue acting like before.
Since arriving on Namek, they had received too many favors from the Grand Elder.
Even though the Grand Elder claimed it was simply to thank them for saving Dende—
and that was why he unlocked their potential and allowed them to use the Dragon Balls—
Krillin knew that was only polite talk.
After all, saving Dende alone didn't warrant such a massive reward.
The Grand Elder truly hoped that once they grew stronger, they could help protect Planet Namek and its people.
"Alright," Krillin said, clenching his fists. "Gohan, this time we go all out. Even if we can't win, we won't cower anymore."
The change in the two of them was immediate. Vegeta could clearly sense the shift in their ki.
"At least you haven't disappointed me enough for me to completely look down on you," Vegeta said coldly.
"Here's a word of advice: when the Ginyu Force arrives and sees you, they won't send everyone at once. Those idiots are arrogant—
they'll underestimate you. That's your chance to win decisively. Of course, if you can unleash even greater power, that's another story."
He paused briefly before adding, "There's one more thing—good news for you. Kakarot is almost here. While you're fighting the Ginyu Force, he should arrive as well. No more than fifteen minutes earlier or later."
The speed surprised even Vegeta.
It made him wonder if, this time, because the flow of events had changed, Goku's spaceship hadn't been damaged or dragged off course by a star like it was in the original timeline.
Krillin and Gohan looked shocked when they heard this.
But soon, they calmed down again. After all, Vegeta and Goku were mortal enemies—or so they thought.
"Looking at me like that… are you afraid I'll harm Kakarot?" Vegeta snorted.
"Relax. I'm not interested in the current Kakarot. As long as he doesn't provoke me, I'm too lazy to pay him any attention."
With that, Vegeta turned and headed toward Frieza's spaceship.
Before the battle, he needed to take a shower and change into a clean battle suit.
For now, he'd have to make do. Later, once he reached Earth, he'd have Bulma design something more fashionable for him.
There was also the research on healing devices and healing fluid.
He had already mentioned it to Bulma, but without proper equipment, she could only gain a basic understanding for now.
As Vegeta entered the spaceship, he ran straight into Bulma.
In truth, he had already sensed her standing at the entrance.
He pretended not to notice. Bulma, on the other hand, panicked—unsure whether to hide or leave—and the two collided.
The contact was soft.
And Bulma carried a faint, pleasant scent that lingered in the air.
"Um… I—I'm going out for a bit," Bulma said hurriedly, breaking free from Vegeta's hand. Her cheeks were slightly flushed.
At this age, a shyness she hadn't felt in years suddenly surfaced, making her feel as though she'd returned to being eighteen again.
After putting some distance between them, Bulma quickly ran out of the spaceship.
Watching her retreating figure, Vegeta's lips curved into a faint smile.
In truth, he had already noticed Bulma sneaking glances at him over the past two days.
He also vaguely realized the reason—it was his nearly perfect physique that attracted her.
After all, what kind of girl was Bulma originally?
In the early days, she was easily swayed by handsome men.
Honestly speaking, even in the later stages of the original story, it was Bulma who took the initiative in getting together with Vegeta.
…
After taking a hot shower, Vegeta changed into a clean battle suit and slowly walked out of Frieza's spaceship.
At that exact moment, five spaceships descended from the sky and landed on a nearby island.
In front of him, Krillin and Gohan wore solemn expressions. The elite subordinates tensed up instantly.
Bulma was startled. Seeing Vegeta step out, she immediately moved behind him, instinctively seeking a sense of security.
The Ginyu Force had arrived.
