Chapter 10 - Into The City (2)

Freya gazed at the expensive looking interior of the car and turned to Xavier. With a raised eyebrow, she asked, "Are you sure?"

Because there was no way in hell she was going to get in unless he was a hundred percent okay with her dirtying his car. The coat covered most of her body, but Freya wasn't taking chances considering how dirty she was from surviving the wild.

"It's fine. I can always just get a new one." Xavier rolled his eyes as he tossed that bag of his into the back of the vehicle. "Now get in."

Freya resisted the urge to gape at this man's crazy words. Buy a new one… Guess he wasn't kidding when he said he was wealthy. With a shake of her head, she moved into the passenger side of the vehicle.

Once she was seated inside the vehicle, Xavier shut the door and walked to the driver's side. He got in the vehicle as Freya put on her seat belt. She then silently watched as he removed his right hand glove and placed his index finger into the side of the steering wheel.

"Fingerprint recognized." An A.I. sounding voice suddenly spoke out as the vehicle turned on. "Welcome General Xaiver. Where shall we be driving today?"

Freya's eyes widened in shock as the dashboard lit up with a map. To think this world had such advanced A.I. after those monsters she had faced last night. It was mind-blowing and made her realize she had transmigrated into some advanced society.

Sure the massive dome and underground parking lot told her the world was at least modern. But seeing the car act like this clearly showed it was slightly more advanced. Something she could easily adapt to.

A part of her was eager to see what else had advanced in this world compared to her home one. Guess that was the vivid sci-fi reader within her calling out to this discovery.

"Head straight home." Xavier ordered as he put his glove back on and fastened his seatbelt.

"Destination confirmed." The A.I responded. "Beginning trip…"

The vehicle revved into action and the car began driving without Xavier touching the steering wheel. The sight was quite fascinating although Freya did wonder what the use for the steering wheel was when the car was a self-driving one.

Perhaps to allow for a manual mode? Freya mused to herself. Like the driver needing to speed though traffic or something that the self-driving mode wouldn't allow.

The dimly lit underground parking soon turned bright as the vehicle exited the parking lot. Freya eagerly turned her attention to the tinted window, wanting to view the city.

And boy was it an incredible sight.

The city was massive with skyscrapers as far as the eye could see. Some were apartment buildings and others seemed to belong to large corporations. None of which she could recognize obviously.

The city was bustling with cars driving everywhere and people walking all over the place. Well, beastmen walking all over the place. Almost everyone had some kind of animal feature, whether it was ears, tails or sometimes a full beast form.

Freya also quickly noticed that she barely saw any women around. She could actually count on her one hand how many she spotted as they drove through the city.

Honestly, the place reminded her of a metropolitan type city. Save for one thing - the amount of plant life around. Perhaps it was because she was used to cities being mostly concrete that it was strange seeing so much greenery.

But perhaps it was because beastmen were more connected to nature even living within a city.

As they continued driving, the skyscrapers and large buildings became less as a more suburban type area took its place. More parks and open areas appeared too along with residential estates.

They soon turned down one of the estates' roads and Freya's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe how massive the homes were. No mansions were. She bet they'd go for millions of dollars on Earth.

It was no wonder Xavier didn't care about his car when he was living in this kind of luxury. The car soon turned into one of the gated mansions and the metal gates automatically opened allowing them to drive up to the home.

When the car finally came to a stop, the A.I. voice said, "Arrived at destination."

Xavier pressed some button on the car before he got out and opened the door for Freya just as she was trying to get out herself. She gazed up at the three storey building and couldn't help but gulp with nervousness.

"We should head inside." Xavier stated, grabbing his bag before the car drove itself into the garage. "Do you want to eat or bathe first?"

"Bath." Freya answered immediately.

While she was starving, Freya couldn't stand being filthy any longer than necessary. Honestly, this was the longest she had been without showering and it was something she'd never take for granted.

Xavier led her inside the grand home, Freya careful not to touch the white walls. The place was silent and had expensive looking furniture everywhere, making it felt almost like a showroom rather than a home.

There was almost nothing personal around.

They headed upstairs and Xavier showed her to the first room. It was quite dark with black out curtains and dark colored furniture, clearly matching Xavier's sense of style. No doubt his bedroom.

The place was quite simple with a large bed and a few cardboards. No pictures or things lying around. Xavier opened one of the doors inside the bedroom and ushered Freya into a modern bathroom.

She almost let out a sigh of relief at the sight of the toilet and large bath. This world had indoor plumbing much to her relief. She doubted she could survive without it.

"You can use the bathroom first. I'll find you a change of clothes and a towel." Xavier said, making her turn to him. "Use whatever you want in there. I'll have someone prepare some lunch."

He then left without another word, shutting the door behind him.
