But for now, he was following Lucius, this weird and crazy guy who seemed indifferent to the fact that they were no longer on their world and seemed to know more about what the system could do than he did. Hayate also found out Lucius was not only crazy, but also weirdly knowledgeable in metallurgy, blacksmithing, and herbology.
``soo, how do I get a class?´´ Hayate already had an idea of what he would choose, it would be a waste not to use his kendo skills, but if there was another better class, then he would have to make the sacrifice.

``What class should I pick? Oh, so great, veteran?´´ Hayate said a bit sarcastically. But getting information about someone who has already experimented further than him would be a good point in choosing his class.
``Whatever you want, really, classes are more of a filter for skills than actual classes, really, like yeah, they give you stats per level and more free points, but the only thing they do is filter skills not related to it or just not important to it,´´ said Lucius without looking back.
´´So I can choose whatever?´´
``Depends if you want to do magic go caster, if you want to fight close quarters go warrior, archer, and healer are self explanatory, variants are about what path of that class you want, like warrior can go rogue, Medium, and tank, and caster is either dps or support´´ said Lucius, glancing back at Hayate.
``Are there better classes? Like a magic swordsman or an archmage? any kind of hidden classes?´´ Hayate knows there has to be some kind of better class than just those basic ones, because if they were too basic.
``kind of? Like the classes you get offered at the start are basically filters for future upgrades, and yes, there are better classes. But no hidden classes thought that every class can be gotten if you have the item or have met the requirements to be offered the said class. So just choose one and you'll be able to get a better one later anyway.´´
``Okay, I'll trust the crazy guy with silver hair.´´ Hayate was getting bored with not getting a reaction out of Lucius, so he decided to start calling him crazy guy, and to be honest, the guy did seem crazy.

A basic starting class of a warrior is nimble but compromises defense. Gives: +1 str +2 agi +1 per +1 end +5 free points per level.

a basic starting class of balanced warrior, not as fast as a light warrior, but more resilient. Gives +2 str +2 vit +1 def +5 free points per level.
[warrior (heavy)]
A basic starting class of a strong warrior, compromising speed for power and resilience. Gives +2 str +2 def +1 vit +5 free points per level.
Hayate decided to go warrior or close quarters, as Lucius said it would be, then came the debate if he would choose to have less defence or less speed, but ultimately chose the medium variant, he'd just annoy Lucius with every problem he had if he couldn't advance.

``inferior skills are like basic frameworks and barely considered skills but they can be upgraded, and about stats strenght is self explanatory, vitality is hp and recovery, defence is how much strenght it takes to actually damage you, endurance is how much stamina you have or how much energy you actually have, perception is allos you to see better and kind of betters your sixth sense at some point, intelligence is how fast you process information, wisdom is how well you can remember things and becomes photografic memory at some point, agility is how dexterous you are and how fast you can go and reaction speed, willpower is not going to make you a brave man just because its high it only grows your mp storage. Those are the effects on the body.´´
``Those are the effects on the body, does that mean there are other effects?. And upgraded how?´´ Hayato already had some ideas on how he would distribute his points.
``Well, you can upgrade them easily once you learn how to properly use a sword and have an idea of how you want that skill to go, and yeah there are some other effects, intelligence reduces casting time, wisdom reduces mana cost, and willpower increases mana damage, they do have a diferent effects on certain skills as some do scale with stats. Also, we have been walking for a while now, we might be near the city now.´´
``So what stat should I prioritize? You really didn't answer that one.´´
``Whatever you want, we are too low level to start specializing in a stat. And doing so would be dumb, as we don't have any skill that would require us to level up a stat high up like that. Anyway, how much is left until we reach Yuba?´´
``dunno let me ask.´´ Hayate decided to stop asking, as Lucius didn't really seem keen on giving him much information about it for now. He did find out that the system does respond to intent, and he only needs to think about it, and he'll get the desired outcome.

``About an hour and a half left of walking.´´
``Great, just another hour of me sweating like a turkey.´´ Hayate heard Lucius complain again, like he did once in a while since they started walking towards Yuba.
``Hey Hayate, complete the quest you have.´´ That made Hayate look at Lucius skeptically, as he didn't know what quest Lucius was talking about.
``What quest?´´
``Just visit the system shop, your inventory, the settings, and the quest log´´ said Lucius, if it were common knowledge.
``THERE'S SETTINGS?´´
``That's what you focus on? Like, yeah, there are settings. Why do you think my panel is now black and purple.´´ said Lucius as a black panel with purple borders appeared near him.
``THERE ARE SETTINGS AND CUSTOMIZATION AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME?´´ Hayate had already resigned himself to the bland black panel of the system, but lo and behold, Lucius had hidden from him the customization options, shame on him. Shame on him.
``Oh no, you are one of those... oh noo.´´ Hayate looked with lucid eyes widened as he seemed to realize something about Hayate.
After 30 minutes of Hayate trying and redoing his color palette because it had to be perfect, and having to redo it again because he found out every part of the system can have a different color palette, he had to get the perfect Gamer vibes palette for his system.

``Huh? Why did the system give me money?´´ Hayate had been too focused on creating the perfect palette that he didn't realize that his quest log did have a quest, like Lucius said, or that he did the quest without knowing.

``Wait, is this why you weren't worried about money?´´ Hayate would have never imagined that the system would've given them money to begin with.
``Yeah? It's called newbie mode for a reason, because of that the system gives you a modest amount of money.´´
``If 25 million is modest for you, I don't want to know what you consider expensive. Were you rich or something before this?.´´ Hayate was baffled at how dismissive Lucius was of the amount of money he had just received.
``nah, but in this world, money is just like that.´´
``What? Is there like super inflation happening?.´´
``Nope, just weird high prices and a corrupt government ruling over an aristocracy with petty nobles. Might do French Revolution, only targeting world nobles´´ said Lucius, glancing back at Hayate and pointing at something in the distance.
``We´re almost there. So if they ask, we are survivors of a merchant ship that got sunk by pirates on our way to return to the Sabaody Archipelago from the South Blue. If they ask further, just say you don't want to talk about it.´´
``Survivors of a merchant ship that got attacked and sunk by pirates, and just turn down everyone that wants more info.´´ lucius knew more about this world than him, so Hayate decided to follow Lucius for now.
