Kai sank to his knees, the damp soil cold beneath his hands. He stared at the headstone, chest tight, words spilling out without thought.
"I trusted you!" He shouted. Voice cracking, "I believed in you because of him! Because..Elias..Elias said you were good!"
A bitter laugh escaped him, "Good? You let him die! You promised to protect him. You promised he'd watch over us!"
His hands dug into the dirt, shaking. "Didin't you hear me!? All those nights..I prayed, all mornings I BEGGED for him to be safe, and what did you do? nothing."
Kai's voice dropped to a whisper, almost pleading. "Do you even exist? Or was it all just stories? Stories my brother told me to make me feel safe?"
He stood slowly, standing quietly, voice rising. "Maybe it's all lies. Maybe there is no you. Maybe I wasted all those years believing in someone who dosent even exist. What a joke my brother made!"
He stopped, breathing heavily, fist clenching at his sides. A single raindrop landed on the tip of his nose. He tiled his head up to the sky." If you're out there..if you're real..show me. Show me that this wasn't all meaningless."
Only the whispers of the wind answered him. And for the first time, he did not felt feel comfort. He didin't feel God. Just..emptiness.
