Chapter 69 - Chapter Sixty-Eight: The Parliament (Part 1)

Kote first asked if Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon were in the Jedi Temple, receiving a negative answer; they were still on the fourth moon of Vodran.

But as a member of the Galactic Council, Kote still found it relatively easy to enter the inner regions of the Jedi Temple.

Great Master Yoda had long sensed Kote's arrival and sent someone to call Kote to the meditation chamber.

Inside the meditation chamber, Great Master Yoda and Great Master Mace Windu were sitting and meditating. In their meditation, the future became increasingly elusive. Kote's appearance had completely changed the future, perhaps for the better, or perhaps for the worse; they could not see clearly.

Kote walked in.

"Welcome, Councilman Kote, or perhaps Great Master Kote," Mace Windu said.

"No, in front of you two, I dare not call myself a Great Master. I am merely an heir to the Mandalore The Force," Kote said humbly.

"Little Kote, perhaps you think you killed the Sith, but they are right here," Great Master Yoda said, startling him.

"!" Kote was extremely surprised. Could it be that they had found out about Palpatine and Plagueis? "Great Master Yoda, did you see them?" Kote quickly pressed.

"No, one day after you killed Maul, I sensed a surge of Dark Side power on Coruscant," Yoda explained.

"And that incident that caused The Force fluctuations throughout the Universe must have been you, too. Perhaps we were all mistaken; you truly are the Chosen One," Mace Windu said to Kote.

"Perhaps, but it could also be someone else," Kote said, stating the obvious.

"We have already dispatched personnel across the Galaxy to intensify the search for traces of the Sith, but aside from the lightsaber you had Obi-Wan give us, we found nothing," Yoda said.

"They will not appear again unless they have something to accomplish; they are hidden in the shadows of the Galaxy," Kote told the two.

"Then we will also drag them out; we cannot let them continue to get away with it," Windu clenched his fist.

"See you next time, Great Masters. Perhaps by then, we won't even be able to worry about the Sith threat. A greater crisis is yet to come, and then the Sith will naturally appear," Kote said with a smile to the two Great Masters, then left the Jedi Temple. After all, he wanted to maintain the balance of both factions to profit himself.

After Kote left, the two looked at each other.

"Has he already understood the Sith, or is he foreseeing something?" Windu asked Great Master Yoda beside him.

"He has surpassed us. Now The Force is merely his tool. He doesn't care who is Sith or who is Jedi; to him, there is no difference," Yoda replied after a moment of thought.

"Then could he have already joined the Sith? I can feel both the Dark Side and the Light Side coexisting within him. Perhaps he is hesitating," Windu pondered.

"He is neither Sith nor Jedi; he is merely a user of The Force, and he is our friend," Great Master Yoda said to Windu.

"Alright, Great Master," Windu had no choice but to give up when Yoda said so.

Kote thoroughly enjoyed being a riddle-teller in front of the Jedi; it made him feel great because he was a rather vengeful person. After all, they didn't let him join the Jedi Order back then, otherwise he would have already led them to directly capture Sidious.

Returning to the Council building, Kote experienced the delicacies from various places, which was one of his major hobbies. After eating his fill, Kote lay on the large bed in his office, thinking about what to say at tomorrow's council meeting. After all, speaking in front of over a thousand sector council members was not an easy task.

Early the next morning, Senator Palpatine found Kote to discuss some council matters. On the way, they met Council Member Gonrey, who was also on his way.

"We meet again, Council Member Gonrey," Kote quickly went up to greet Council Member Gonrey, whom he had blackmailed a few days prior.

"Yes, Governor Gunray, I didn't expect to see you here too," Gunray was stunned that he would encounter this blackmailer here.

"We will be colleagues from now on, Council Member Gonrey, after all, you are one of my few friends," Kote showed a kind smile to Gunray.

"I will support your proposal today," Gunray said before hastily leaving.

Seeing this, Palpatine asked Kote, "Councilman Kote, are you very familiar with Council Member Gonrey?"

"Yes, without him, Vadir could not have been built at all. He is my great benefactor," Kote introduced Governor Gunray as such.

As they spoke, the two walked to the entrance of the Mandalorian Sector, then separated. Two Council Guards stood at the entrance. Kote, with Nehaal and Spider, walked into the council platform. Kote stood on it, while the other two sat below.

Looking around, there were dense crowds of various beings, and at the very center was the podium for the Speaker and Vice Speaker, but they had not yet entered.

After a while, when everyone had arrived, the voice of Vice Speaker Mas Amedda came through the loudspeakers.

"Chancellor Valorum has arrived! Silence, everyone! Play the anthem 'Stars Burn as One'!"

Chancellor Valorum saluted the crowd, and the council members expressed their respect to Chancellor Valorum.

The Galactic Republic anthem finished, and today's agenda began.

"Today's first agenda item is the invasion and enslavement of the Kaili people by the Yamri people, as well as the illegal occupation of other planets!" Chancellor Valorum conveyed Kote's desired agenda, which was clearly submitted to Valorum by Palpatine.

Hearing Chancellor Valorum's words, most of the empathetic council members were all astonished, as no one knew this had happened in the Galaxy.

"First, let Councilman Kote Vizsla of the Mandalorian Sector present this matter!" Valorum asked Kote to come forward and speak.

Kote maneuvered his platform to the central area and began his speech: "Fellow citizens of the Galaxy, hello. Although I am a Mandalore council member, I have a heart that loves the Republic. That day, during a routine inspection..." Kote recounted what the Spider Squad had encountered.

Spider also stepped forward to state that he was an eyewitness, attaching holographic images to make it clear to representatives across the Galaxy exactly what had happened!

"This is completely slander!" the Yam'ri representative directly rushed out and shouted.

But he was reprimanded by Chancellor Valorum, "It is not yet the Yam'ri representative's turn to speak!"

Seeing these shocking images, all the council members were astonished and began to discuss.

"Order!" the Vice Speaker shouted, holding his scepter.

Kote also continued to talk about Nehaal of the Kaili people, asking Nehaal to step forward and describe what kind of blows and enslavement they had suffered under the Yam'ri invasion.

"On our planet, the Yamri people wantonly plundered all our resources, attacked our temples, and massacred and enslaved our people. My tribe, under their massacre and enslavement, is now left with only thirty people, but we originally had three thousand!" Nehaal said his story, tears streaming down his face, drawing the sympathy of everyone.

Finally, "For democracy and freedom, for the Galactic Constitution, my heart does not allow me to ignore this, so I brought the Kaili people to Coruscant to seek justice for the Kaili people!" Kote slammed his hand hard on the armrest in front of him.

"So, for freedom and democracy, sanction the Yamri people!" Kote shouted.

Seeing this, a large number of council members immediately shouted, "Sanction!"

"Sanction!"

"Order! Order!" To allow the proceedings to continue, Vice Speaker Mas Amedda loudly maintained order.
