Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Reincarnation into the Other World: It had to be FGO

Isekai reincarnation.

A genre so widespread in the literary world that it has long surpassed saturation. It starts with provocative premises but inevitably devolves into the same mass-produced trash—novels existing solely for cheap gratification.

Of course, amidst the refuse, masterpieces like Re:Zero or Konosuba do emerge... but they are the exception, not the rule. Not even one in a hundred; perhaps merely 0.1%.

And yet, I am the sort of hopeless otaku who willingly consumes such trash.

Naturally, I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about the genre.

Honestly, instead of the cliché of being hit by a truck or a god making a clerical error, couldn't we have something fresh? Like being flattened by a steamroller before reincarnating?

Lost in such useless thoughts, I walked down the street. It was my way home, yet I felt exhausted beyond measure. I just want to get home and rest, I thought.

But who would have guessed? To think I would be hit by a bicycle, of all things, tumble down a flight of stairs, and crack my skull open.

Ah... I didn't even log in today...

That was my final thought before I died.

"And thus, I have arrived at this moment. To think I would actually experience such a wretched Isekai cliché. And of all places, it had to be the Moonlit World—a place devoid of both dreams and hope...!"

Thwack!

Smash! Boom!

"To think a Game UI would appear instead of a Status Window. How ironic. Though, I suppose this is preferable. I'm not the type of protagonist suited for combat. And even if I were, in a world teeming with such monstrosities, I have no desire to be a protagonist with mediocre strength."

"Haa... So, have you finished your soliloquy, Master?"

"Yes, thank you for your hard work. Honestly... I don't wish to see the carnage. Isn't your method a bit too... physical?"

"Historically, Casters have always relied more on physical prowess. Just as an old man leans on a staff only to use it as a bludgeon when necessary, a staff is, by nature, a blunt weapon."

"Is that why the elders claim the priority seats on transport? Because they are actually the strongest...? But still, why is a Caster's Strength rank B? Even Archer is a D. Even Saint Martha is a D, so why?"

"Well. That is simply the way of Britain."

"I see."

"So... the promise. You intend to keep it, yes?"

"What promise... Ah, the farming runs? Worry not. I shall use Koyanskaya in your stead. After all, these days, Buster is the meta for farming. At least, I prefer Buster. Even if I must use an Arts setup, I will bring Magi-Mari (Lady Avalon) along. In exchange, you'll help me with the actual battles, right? Not the farming?"

"Yes, yes, of course... As long as it is not farming... I respectfully decline being locked in a solitary room like Lady Scáthach-Skadi. It is a pity she cannot wear her swimsuit."

I do not possess Ruler Skadi (Summer Skadi), after all. And even if I did, I prefer Buster or Arts over Quick.

"Here, have a drink. It was the only beverage I could find."

"A canned drink... Haha, the usual, I see. It has been a long time since I tasted the Original."

Click... Gulp, gulp!

"Your form when drinking is quite extraordinary."

"Puh-ah~! Is it? I have always done so... So, where is the next enemy? And really, why is it that I, the Support, am the only one fighting...?"

"The system says we need Saint Quartz for the next summon. Truly a filthy system."

"Haa... Shall I simply buff you so that you may fight, Master?"

"Traditionally, the lone Support casts all buffs upon themselves to beat the enemy into submission. Merlin proved this in the past."

"Sigh... Is this why you fed me all those Golden Fous...? Though I must admit, Fou-kun tasted quite delicious."

"Whoa there... You actually tore into Fou?"

"One consumes them physically, do they not? It is regrettable that I have reached my limit and cannot eat any more. The same applies to the Embers of Wisdom."

Terrifying. Run away, Fou-kun.

How in the world did I end up like this...?
