When they reached the healer's house there was chaos all around. Six children were huddled together. Their parents were hovering nearby, looking helpless and furious. A young healer hybrid, was treating their injuries.
"They just cry or they don't react at all. I don't know how to help them." The healer told Nyx.
Nyx knelt beside the seven year old girl, the old man had mentioned.
"Hey." Nyx said softly. "My name is Nyx. What is yours ?"
There was no response.
"I know you're scared. I know what you saw was terrible. You know, sometimes, I'm scared too. But being scared doesn't make you weak, it makes you smart."
The girl's eyes flickered slightly.
"I will make sure that the people who hurt your father are punished."Nyx continued. "It might take time, but I promise you they won't get away with this."
"Promise?" The girl whispered.
"I promise."
"But mama says promises don't mean anything."
