Two hours later, Nyx stood on the palace balcony facing thousands of hybrids and pure bloods. The statement she'd drafted with Arthur's help was in her hands, but she'd memorized it. She wanted to look in people's eyes while she spoke.
"Citizens of the Pride Lands, I'm here to tell you the truth about a threat we're facing. It is not to scare you, but because you deserve honesty.
An extremist group called The Culled has been attacking civilians. Yesterday, they killed seventeen people in the eastern market. We have credible intelligence that in approximately 48 hours, they're planning to attack children at three different locations."
The crowd erupted in shocked murmurs. Nyx waited for them to go silent before continuing.
"The Culled believes that three hundred years of oppression, discrimination, and violence against hybrids can only be answered with violence in return." She paused.
