Chapter 21 - Bloodlust (2)

In a world filled with various kinds of mythical creatures, it only made sense that each one had their own kind of unique ability that set them different from other.

But later on the patterns began to show and those unique powers were grouped into two different categories; Arcane and Supernatural.

These two categories largely identify the main concept of one's ability. The Arcane Mythics, as the name implies, are Mythics who wield magical like abilities such as wield elements or casting different spells and rituals, the likes of Elves, Witches and Dryads.

On the other hand, Supernatural Mythics have abilities that are more defined as paranormal rather than magical, it more about one's inherent powers rather than external forces.

However, there was one species that these categories didn't fall into…Vampires.

They were considered a special case to an innate trait called a Talent. These traits normally manifested after a Vampire's fiftieth birthday, the Talent would then develop into ability.

But the only thing was…the ability did not follow a specific type of ability. One could get an Arcane type or a Supernatural Type ability. This trait made Vampires the most unpredictable species amongst the Mythics...

"You ready for a proper beatdown mutt?" Lucian exclaimed.

"R…Run…Run A-Away." Riven growled as his body trembled on the ground with restraint.

Lucian gave an annoyed look. "Are you underestimating me, you little shit?!" the orb above Lucian's palm suddenly glowed brighter and he charged at the Werewolf. "You are gonna regret that!"

The other struggled a bit for control before letting out a primal snarl and rushed at the other and pounced.

"That's it keep charging in blindly!"The Vampire smirked to himself as he dropped on one knee using his momentum and sliding just below the rampaging teenager. "Eat this!!"

He slammed the orb into Riven's stomach, as it exploded in a flash of light that sent the Werewolf into the air.

"I ain't done yet."

With one leap, he pushed into the air just above the bi-colored haired teen and launched a kick at the back of his head, sending him crashing into a tree.

Lucian landed on the floor effortlessly, shifting into a defensive stance immediately. "Is he out?" he thought.

Much to the Vampire's discomfort, a figure ran out the bushes swinging his claws wildly at the other who evaded the onslaught.

"Really? Again!" Lucian scowled as he put up two palms in front of him and a bright light flashed from them making the Werewolf stepped backward rubbing his eyes abnormally.

However, the Vampire didn't miss the opportunity and unleashed a heavy punch to the side of the jaw followed up by another jab to the side of the face and lastly a boot to the face.

Riven stumbled back even further, shaking his head erratically.

"Like that? Well I got more!" the hothead closed in and blasted his stunned opponent with another blast of light in the same spot.

The pain seemed to have snapped the werewolf out of his earlier daze as he swung his claws that left a small claw mark on the side of Lucian face.

"Too damn slow!" He growled as he kicked the other right in the stomach and pushed off him, wiping the blood of his cheek as the wound lazily patched itself up.

"Damn, my regeneration is getting slower…I can't let this drag on any longer."

Sliding one foot back and bending both knees, he took a type of kung fu pose.

"Is that all you got?!" Lucian taunted with a wild grin.

Riven let out a blood-curling howl, as he charged at the teenager in front of him and leapt into the air and swung down, but the Vampire rolled to the side dodging the attack that shattered the ground.

"That attack was stronger than the others!" Lucian observed as he ran across the clearing "I can't let him get close…so I'll use ranged attacks."

His veins pulsed again as he shot out several balls of light at his feral opponent, though they were smaller than the original orbs he had fired initially.

But to Lucian's surprise, the Werewolf had countered this by taking cover behind the trees, moving from one to another.

"He's…adapting?" the teenager observed as he continued his fire. "This guy is starting to get a bit too dangerous."

The Werewolf continued to dodge in the shadows of the trees, his glowing eyes fixed on the Vampire.

"What? You tired already?" Lucian asked.

"I…I'm…sorry…I…can't…stop it." Riven groaned again.

"Huh?"

Lucian momentarily ceased his attack, his brain blue-screened a bit after hearing those words especially from someone he's hated from Day One.

"Are you messing with me Wright don't think I'm some-"

He didn't even get a chance to finish the sentence before he saw the tip of Riven's claws closing in on his face. He tilted his head just in time for it to whiz past him and he retorted with a knee to the chest.

"This is starting to get really annoying, don't tell me you're out of tricks so quickly?"

At that moment, Riven grabbed onto the boy and bit hard into his shoulder with a sickening crack, sending a sharp pain through his entire body.

"ACK! Back off!!" Lucian screamed landing a powerful punch to the side of Riven's face sending the Werewolf back a good distance.

The Vampire applied pressure on his shoulder with one hand breathing heavily, his stamina was getting to its limit and his regeneration had slowed a lot.

"Damn it, I didn't think it would get THIS far. This is bad, really bad…No matter what this guy just seems to get back up again! I need to find a way to win this.

"Luckily for me, it seems his stamina has also gone down as well…meaning that I can end this quick but I have to be careful."

Fortunately, Lucian's observations were proven to be correct, when Riven got up the constant snarling was replaced with erratic, heavy breaths even staggering a bit.

Without missing the beat, Lucian used his free hand and pointed a palm at the bi-colored haired teen, but a sharp pain passed through his body as his veins went dull and dimmed back into his skin.

"Damn it…Why. Why now?" He cursed, dropping on a knee as he felt a burning pain through his body coupled with the pain of the bite he'd received. "My head is killing me."

He looked up to seeing the Werewolf approaching him, but his legs felt like lead and his body wouldn't respond.

"Sh*t, Move. MOVE!"

Meanwhile, inside Riven's head he saw everything unfolding, his skin had a black substance that kept growing and spreading and he was still hearing the mantra in his head.

"Stop…" he groaned as he saw his claws raised at the black haired boy. "Stop it…Someone…Please…help me!"

The claws swung down at Lucian, as the Vampire grit his teeth preparing for the worst.

However, at the last few second, he saw a fist punch the Werewolf's side, the blow only a few inches away from the flesh but somehow the sheer impact of the force was enough to send a deafening shockwave through the air, sending Riven crashing through a few trees.

Lucian gasped as he turned his head to see a familiar face. "Y-You!"

"Sorry I'm late…I had to make sure the others were alright." Kairo said.

The Vampire was dumbfounded, he hadn't seen the blow even touch Riven but it seemed that the force of it was just enough.

"You're injured…Can you walk?" Kairo asked as his eyes landed on the wound on Lucian shoulder.

"That's none of your business! And I didn't need your help…I could have handle him myself."

"Yet you just stood there looking stupid." Kairo bluntly said.

The boy's face went red with anger. "What did you just say?! Just because you call yourself my teacher doesn't mean I can't beat the crap out of you!"

The man rolled his eyes with exasperation "I'm sure you can."

"DON'T UNDERESTIMATE ME-"

Lucian was cut off with a soft thwack on his shoulder as he fell down on the ground his eyes rolled to the back of his head.

"I guess I'll have to carry these two as well…Ugh, you lot are such a pain but…" the older Werewolf sighed as he lowered his hand and his gaze shifted to the unconscious Riven

"But…You've got some potential…Just need a little tuning."
