The weekend was over and school had started but for Riven he wished that it hadn't.
Why do I have to sit here listening to all this stuff?
He asked himself as he idly twirled a pen between his fingers staring ahead, at nothing in particular. He looked at the word written on the board for a moment.
Cryptozoology.
It was supposedly Biology in this world just broader and...weirder.
What's the need of all this stuff anyway? Unless we have to bore the enemy to death, I don't see any use in this junk.
"Riven, Could you just relay the last word I said?" Kairo said snapping the younger werewolf from his training of thought.
"Huh? Wha- Me?!"
"Did I call anyone else?"
Riven audibly gulped as he racked his brain to remember what his teacher had said but nothing came to mind at all.
"I...Urh...Ughh."
Kairo gave a tired sigh. "If you feel like this stuff isn't important to you then you can go ahead and ignore the class, I wouldn't care either...but just so you know, I hate low grades."
Riven's blood ran cold as he sat up straight and suddenly became more focused in the words on the board. "U-Understood!"
Kairo ignored him and went back to explaining the topic further.
The werewolf was grateful that his teacher has decided to be lenient enough to spare him any reprimanding.
"With the way you're going, you're gonna get another punishment before the week runs out."
Riven groaned as he instantly recognized the voice. Why wouldn't he?
He looked back to see a familiar face looking at him.
"Do you always have to make me regret my life choices?"
Azrael shrugged. "Maybe...After all I'm a ghost, haunting is kinda the whole gig."
The Werewolf roles his eyes "Whatever."
The classes continued to pass by at an agonizing time. Riven wished that time would at least go faster but that was all but wishful thinking.
Their last class was drawing anear and Riven was eager to just go back to his room and relax as he had noticed himself being more lethargic than he usually was.
Should I have gone to bed earlier? Nah That's not it.
He thought as he opened his locker and took his field wear.
He took a look at his for a moment admiring the fine tailoring but also made him feel bad about making the ones who made it make a new one. Since his old one got ruined due to the last field class training.
He sighed as he put them on
----
Soon the students had found themselves in a sort of dojo with tatami mats and some kendo sticks off to the side and in the center was a large circle for sparring.
"Alright, For this last class you all are going to be doing some light sparring against yourselves." Kairo began as he took a piece of paper and tore it into strips. "Your partner will decided by the other who has the same length as you...Now hurry and don't waste my time any further."
The lot didn't need to be told twice as each of them pulled out the pieces of paper one by one.
"Azrael got paired with Runa?! That little cocky bastard..." Riven hissed as he muttered profanities under his breath. He looked at his own strip dangling hopeless between his fingers.
He looked at the others and headed towards Cyrus. "Hey Cy, looks like we're pairing up together...How's your 'boss' gonna deal with that?"
The Imp gave a awkward chuckle. "Well, the thing is...I'm paired with Harumi."
The werewolf blood went cold...and boiled at the same time as the realization slowly dawned on him, he slowly turned towards a particular fellow, resisting the urge to growl.
Why does this always f*cking happen to me!?
The look on Lucian's face was not one of pleasure either as he clicked his tongue and tossed his strip aside in a annoyed motion, visibly grumbling curses.
"Okay now that you have your partner with you, let's begin the sparring...Lucian and Riven, you two first, first one to surrender or get thrown out of the circle loses." Kairo stated
Azrael gave their teacher a mildly surprised look as the aforementioned made their way to the center of the dojo. "Umm, Teach you do know you're trying to light a gunpowder keg, right?" He commented "After their last encounter are you sure it's safe to-"
"They were under no supervision then...This is different."
Azrael sighed. "I suppose so but this wouldn't really be considered a fight...I mean Lucian is obviously more skilled."
"Then Riven will have to learn to adapt...Begin!"
At that instance, the young werewolf took a step back into a defensive stance.
I can't get too careless with guy, he nearly mopped the floor with me the last time.
Lucian noticed the cautiousness in the others stance and couldn't help but smirk. "What's wrong? Got cold feet or something? Come at me already!" he said gesturing his arms.
"If this is some kind of BS trap to rile me up, it's not gonna work...dumbass."
"Heh, seems like your IQ went up a bit after our last interaction..."
Riven tensed his fists harder as he fought against the urge to punch this guy in the face, but he took a deep breath and blinked.
That was his first mistake.
The instant he opened his eyes he saw a foot coming at him, acting on instinct, he ducked to the side before rolling back up to his feet.
He's fast... Insanely fast.
Knowing that the Vampire wasn't done, he braced himself and true to the other's nature he rushed at him again and threw a heavy right.
Riven parried and send a quick jab of his own but it only hit air as Lucian had ducked and sprung upwards with an uppercut that made the young werewolf see stars explode at the back of his eyes.
He stumbled backwards wiping his jaw.
He's really fast...Just like before, if I let my guard down around him I'll be knocked out sooner than I expected...but I'm no pushover.
"Is that the best you can do?" Riven yelled.
"Oh I'm going to enjoy beating that confidence to the ground." The Vampire smirked as he rushed at the werewolf throwing a powerful punch tmained to the side of his face but Riven was able to duck at the last second but the blow left a graze in his cheek.
Now's my chance!
He grabbed onto Lucian's waist tightly, straining to get the Vampire of the ground.
"GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!!" Lucian yelled as he felt his feet lift off the floor.
"If I were you I'd suggest you brace yourself!" Riven smirked as he prepared the win the spar but he felt two hands grab unto the back of his head and the next thing he felt was the blunt impact of a knee.
He stumbled before losing his balance and falling.
Riven sat himself up as he wiped his mouth. "Cheap trick...but I'm not surrendering until-"
"Until what? You're already out...Idiot." Lucian asked a smug smirk plastered on his face.
"O-Out?!" The young boy turned to see that half of his body was already out of the circle.
Damn it! I didn't consider the space!!
"Lucian wins." Kairo announced though it was already known.
"Of course I did." Lucian proudly said as he stepped towards the other. "Ain't no way I'm ever going to lose to that guy."
"But he did have you in a tight spot, and it looked like you did that attack out of panic." Cyrus said in a matter-of-fact tone
"OI! WHO THE HELL ASKED YOU FOR A REVIEW?!" Lucian hissed
"Geez, calm down."
Azrael noticing that Riven hadn't left from the spot walked up to him. "Hey dude, It's not that bad, you gave it your best."
Riven sighed. "It's not that."
Azrael blinked. "I-it's not?"
"Yeah it's just..." Riven said looking towards the entrance. "My senses are picking something up."
"You mean your werewolf sense but you said you haven't them yet."
"They just turn on by themselves sometimes, whether I want it or not."
"Really? So what are you picking up exactly?" Azrael asked curiously.
"Something strong... really strong."
Just then the doors swung open and two figure stepped in and the temperature in the room dropped as the room went silent.
Everyone could feel it now. The people that had just entered the room carried a certain air around them.
Kairo let out a long sigh "They'd better be a good reason you're interrupting my class."
"Apologizes, Mr. Kairo." A female voice said she was fair-skinned and wore the school's uniform and beside her was a male who was a bit taller and had yellow eyes and brown mop hair and also wore the school uniform. "But It's quite urgent we see your students."
"Who the f*ck are those two?" Lucian said raising a brow.
"Those...are members of the Student Council." Kairo answered
Everyone's eyes went wide as they stared at the two that just came in.
The female chuckled. "Oh, that's right we have introduced ourselves to your class sooner since we run on a tight schedule...I'm Eris and this is Dorian."
"Let's cut the introduction for a later time..." Dorian spoke, his voice sounding low, albeit tired and groggy. "Class A-7, the reason we're here is because the Student Council has called for you."
