ALTHEA
I paced as they all watched me, exhaustion drawn into every line of their wary faces but wished they would go and rest.
The retinue, wolves and crows refused to sleep the rest of the night as I stood watch over them and Thorne—who had not opened his eyes since finally fell unconscious.
With every turn I took as I paced, they would face it as if refusing to take their eyes off me.
Despite, my hopes it went on an hour without one of them breaking into a yawn
I stopped facing them and watched them brace. Their expression was variations of worry, confusion and dread all which mirrored the chaos that churned in my head and gut.
"You all should be sleeping," I found that my voice was harder than I intended. I sounded like my scolding mother. "I will watch over him I promise," I tried to assure them.
The crows stared at me unblinking and the retinue exchanged glances amongst one another.
