I entered the city to spend the night in a hotel and go look for my friend early the next morning. When I entered the hotel, I saw something unexpected: the boss and his daughter were there as well.
I quickly pulled my hat down over my head and went toward the reception to get a room. The boss looked at me carefully and said:
"You… you look kind of familiar."
I said it must be a mistake.
The boss ordered:
"Take his hat off!"
I resisted, but his men grabbed me and pulled my hat away. Suddenly my face was exposed—the same miserable employee who was always beaten and exploited.
The boss shouted with hatred:
"You filthy bastard! Everywhere I go, you have to be in front of my eyes? Listen… you don't even have the right to rent a room here, because with your presence you dirty the whole place! You're bad luck—you bring misfortune with you!"
His daughter was laughing on me
Rage flared inside me. My eyes filled with hatred, my lips trembled, and I whispered under my breath:
"I won't forgive… I won't forgive… I'll kill all of you… first torture, then death!"
The servants beat me and threw me outside.
Burning with the fire of revenge, I said to myself: Wait a few more days, my friend. After my revenge, I'll come to you. Then I headed straight toward my hideout: the labyrinth. A place only I knew. A place that would mark the beginning of my revenge.
The sound of his demonic laughter echoed in the darkness.
The labyrinth was the very place built for upgrading his skills.
Without the slightest fear, I entered the labyrinth, because I knew all its paths and secrets like the back of my hand. Suddenly, an A-rank monster appeared in front of me.
I smiled, drew my dagger, and with a single strike to the monster's left eye, I brought it down. The glowing XP window appeared again, but no points were added. I didn't care. I continued forward, cutting down every A-rank monster like falling leaves, without losing even a single point of HP.
At last, I reached the gate of the Labyrinth King—a massive door covered in precious stones and gold.
I tore out the eye of the guard standing in front of the gate and placed it into a socket on the door, and with a thunderous sound, the gate opened.
The King of Giants, Soma (the Black Giant).
The king said:
"So you managed to get past my powerful guards."
A demonic smile appeared on Yagami's lips.
The king shouted angrily:
"You insolent wretch! How dare you laugh in the presence of the king?!
You're not even worth using my true power to crush you!"
He raised his sword to strike, unaware that this man was the very one who had created him.
Yagami swiftly dodged, lunged toward his legs, and inflicted a small wound on the king's leg with his dagger.
The king roared in fury:
"How dare you mock me?! Now I'll finish you with a single blow!"
He gripped his sword tightly, but suddenly the blade slipped from his hands. Blood gushed from his mouth and eyes. He collapsed to the ground and said in a trembling voice:
"How is this possible… how did you know my weakness…?
You were just a mere human…
I shouldn't have underestimated you…"
His vision faded. The last thing he saw was Yagami's demonic, hatred-filled laughter.
The man stepped forward, split open the king's forehead, and said with a terrifying laugh:
"From now on… all that awaits you is fear and despair!"
