Slash after slash, swing after swing. Both sides refused to yield.
Everything about this battle screamed caution.
The boy slashed with his knife and dodged, the creature lunged and dodged.
The creature made sure to put itself in a position where the boy was in the girl's firing range.
Then the boy made a play.
He jumped forward and threw his knife at the creature.
The creature dodged sideways, recovered and roared in pain as the knife was buried in his pelvis.
What just happened? I definitely saw the knife being thrown.
Was it a decoy, perhaps a skill?
The creature then punched back in response.
The boy didn't have time to dodge since the knife was stuck in the creature's pelvis.
He slammed into the wall.
The sound of bones cracking was unmistakable. Blood was gushing through his head.
The creature then lunged to charge at him but the girl wouldn't let him. The flames formed around her to create a sort of lance.
She threw it at the creature but suddenly it turned and ran to the girl instead.
The lance connected with the creature's heart but the sword pierced the girl's chest.
"Oh nah, we are finished" mumbled Toby.
The situation took another chapter.
The creature retracted its sword. The girl fell to the floor motionless.
The creature was about to plunge it's sword into her neck to finish her off when the girl suddenly started to laugh.
"cough cough you won't live" said the girl very quietly.
The creature looked bemused for a second.
Then it began to glow. Its sword starting to change into a strange yellow and red colour.
It seems like the creature took that as an insult.
Before he could bring his sword down, it stopped abruptly. Then it coughed blood and fell backwards.
The boy stood above his body.
That recovery timing was great in any situation but not enough to save the girl in this scenario.
The boy repeatedly stabbed that creature in rage. Stab after stab he cried and screamed.
The creature was dead but in truth that boy was truly dead.
He lost all his companions,
Who would he laugh with? Who will he tell his secrets with?
He crawled over and cried.
"Amy, Amy" he sobbed.
The girl named Amy turned her head slowly.
She raised her hand and touched the boy's neck and then fell as she shuddered her last breath.
A firework went off, announcing the sound the boy dreaded to hear.
A sound that declared the harsh truth to the boy.
"Amy, please, wake up" cried the boy.
Wow maybe this is what love is.
To truly love, you realise you've lost someone who was irreplaceable.
Is that what love is?
The boy then laughed maniacally.
"It has to be a dream, right, I just have to go to the first floor right? RIGHT?".
"Wow, someone has gone off the rails" Toby whispered.
Although Toby said it very rudely, I would have to agree.
The firework was a clear signal of a loss of life.
Toby's eyes did show sympathy but no ounce of regret.
He walked forward to where the staircase was but then a pitfall opened up underneath the boy's feet.
He fell but managed to grab hold on to the edge.
In that moment we moved towards him.
Heading past both the creature and the girl, I closed my eyes.
That was a gruesome battle that I don't want to witness again.
"Well well well, we might again" remarked Toby.
"You, help me" panted the boy.
That took me aback for a second.
But then I recognised that facial structure of his. This was the exact boy who wanted to mentally destroy us.
I couldn't hear his voice clearly in the flash bang but that was undoubtedly him.
The one in the mirror wall that made me freeze up in fear.
I took a deep breath and pushed Toby gently back.
The dungeon felt silent. The drips of water on the wall fell silent. My heart felt silent.
"Oh, how far have you fallen, master manipulator," I asked with absolute loathing.
"What do you mean?" he asked with rage.
I glared at him, wasn't the answer obvious enough?
"You of all people should know, how heavy the loss of a human life is".
"I heard you talking with your group of friends and what you were planning to do with us"
"Where is your respect, have you no decency, no honour, no pride, we're merely children yet you persist with this cruel behaviour".
"You are a person of shame, yet you cry, so what does that make you I wonder".
The water falling on the ground became more noticeable now.
"A monster is what my eyes would say, my heart says you're a broken human"
"But broken humans have a reason to be shattered, to either stay shattered or to rebuild themselves"
"And with that I won't give you a chance to rebuild yourself".
I then peeled one of his fingers from the edge.
His life was purely in our hands. The tables have turned and now his eyes screamed of panic and desperation.
"No please, I'm sorry" he begged.
Toby then knelt down and started to peel one of his other fingers off the edge. Two remained.
"Oh I'm sorry I didn't hear that" Toby replied.
"YOU PRICKS I SAID HELP ME" yelled the boy.
"Fine stop blubbering" I answered.
I gestured to take my hand and I saw the devilish grin in his eyes. Wow so predictable I thought.
I quickly retracted my hand and stomped on his remaining two fingers.
With that he let go and fell. The spikes coldly waiting for its hug to come.
Why do people like that always take advantage of help.
Anyways the world would be better off without him.
I say that but many criminals exist in this world so what difference did it really make.
Besides, all humans are evil and selfish in their own way.
This Dungeon proved it.
A firework. The last of it.
A sound that congratulated us for being the last two survivors.
A screen appeared.

With that we hopped over the pit, leaving behind a scene that the world would never begin to know.
Arriving at floor one almost felt like a pipe dream.
This circular room, which once invited fifteen people, now had only two to greet back.
The atmosphere, empty and tired.
A screen appeared, much larger than the original ones.

After that a door opened revealing the outside world.
I didn't care about anything else, I just wanted to escape.
With that we left this perilous dungeon behind.
Escape is meaningful because I survived. If I told this story to anyone else would they believe me.
We exited and ended up outside a tall apartment near the town park.
I looked behind me and that door to the dungeon was gone. So maybe it was a dream.
It was getting dark, strange since we left in the morning.
"What an eventful day it was" Toby said.
His eyes tired, his body wanting to find rest.
I checked my phone only to discover that a ton of messages have been spammed from my mother and brother.
Toby had the same issue with his Mom as well.
We were about to call them and tell them that we're heading back home.
Suddenly a light began to fall from the sky.
A shooting star.
That was rare, was it our lucky day after all to make a wish.
It wasn't just one star but multiple. So beautiful I thought. I don't think I'm going to experience this again.
But that changed as it literally begin to fall onto earth.
Explosion after explosion it landed on buildings and parks.
What was this a meteor shower?
It was never ending and the impact just caused a smokescreen. The impact wasn't large as they landed in a multitude of areas.
Then a bright red light appeared to be falling.
The next thing I heard was a siren wailing somewhere. But how? Where were the speakers.
But then the unimaginable happened.
What I thought was a dream was now a reality.
A screen appeared.

All of that was spoken by a voice. The same voice that was in the early selection.
No way. Was it preparing us for the future?
But then at the park. The impact of the smokescreen started to dissipate.
It revealed the zombies and my heart dropped. They looked exactly like the creatures.
And these zombies weren't the typical slow ones. The park had zombies that could sprint.
Multiple appeared as more smoke appeared.
"RUN KEI" shouted Toby.
I did not need to be told twice. I ran.
The park was in absolute chaos. Those that came to the park to enjoy the scene were immediately overrun and eaten alive.
The creatures known as voids were now appearing. I saw one break down a house and invade.
Screams in the house, screams outside.
