Lucien faced the parted lake apprehensively.
This would be the first time he'd ever had to use such an ability and he was glad he'd taken some time during their break to hone it.
Being able to split water in half was no easy feat. It took tremendous concentration and a will that went beyond what could be considered human.
Lucien couldn't even begin to explain the mechanics that went behind such an ability. Having known the depth of the water made things easy enough in theory, but in practice it was a whole other issue. It was as if he was holding the entire weight of the water in both of his hands. Even a split moment of distraction could leave them in terrible danger.
His jaw tightened as he looked ahead. He took in one more breath before saying, "Let's go."
Alcione moved first.
