Kenneth knew he'd wished for one to appear just so they wouldn't have to keep trudging through this swamp wasteland aimlessly, but this…this wasn't at all what he'd been expecting.
It was the first time in his life that he had to be wary of plants. With his rifle in hand, fingers pressed on the trigger, the chaos growing around them was mind-boggling. Head scratching.
There was no way to make sense of any of this. And perhaps that was what the gate had wanted. What it had been after all along. Focus on the problem in front of you so you wouldn't expect the ambush.
He wanted to curse himself. How could he not have seen something like this coming? How could he not have known that gates could mess with people like this? That they were this…calculating?
They were no closer to finding the Entity and ending this madness.
