There was only darkness, as far as the eye could see. A darkness so terribly obsidian it was damn near tenebrous. It enveloped the body like a blanket, cloying at the skin.
Kenneth could hardly fathom how a place could be so utterly devoid of light. But it wasn't the lack of light that bothered him, but more so what lay underneath and above him.
For all he knew, he could be floating above water, and as soon as he could see again, he would be plunged into the depths of the sea. And just as he thought those words, suddenly there was a beam of light.
