Chapter 105 - Chapter 105: The Land of Whirlpools

Chapter 105: The Land of Whirlpools

The familiar scenery appeared before Masahiko once more. After seven years, Masahiko had returned to the Uzumaki clan.

Behind him followed a large group of people. This was the last batch of Uzumaki clansmen who had stayed in Konoha. With this, the Uzumaki clan had basically completely withdrawn from the village.

"Basically," because two people remained in Konoha. One was Mito; naturally, she stayed. The other was Masahiko's disciple, Kento...

"I said gold will always shine eventually... er, or maybe shit always attracts dung beetles." Masahiko shook his head with a bitter smile. He didn't know when Kento had discovered Might Duy, but the two "birds of a feather" hit it off. Kento didn't take a disciple, but he gained a little sidekick.

"This is good too. Kento staying in Konoha can help me keep an eye on things." Although Masahiko didn't want to go to Konoha for the time being, he didn't want to lose touch with news from the village completely.

"Grandpa Masahiko, didn't Mother say she would come to pick us up?" Yuna asked from beside him.

Masahiko looked puzzled too; his sensory ability hadn't detected Yiko either.

"Maybe something delayed her. Never mind her, let's go back first," Masahiko replied, waving his hand as the crowd followed him.

The closer they got to the Uzumaki territory, the stranger Masahiko's expression became.

"Yuna, has it been too long since I came back? Why do the surroundings of the Uzumaki clan look like this?"

Yuna was also full of confusion. "Grandpa Masahiko, it wasn't like this before..."

Masahiko paused and looked at the expressions of the people behind him; they all looked bewildered.

"Although these people were stationed in Konoha, some of them return to the clan periodically. Adding Yuna's answer, these buildings must have appeared in the last few months? Where did all the civilians go?"

"What the hell is Gensuke doing..."

Masahiko muttered and quickened his pace.

Returning to the Uzumaki residence, Masahiko looked even more bewildered.

A palace had risen from the ground, completely changing the environment Masahiko was familiar with.

Someone in the clan saw them and hurried out to welcome them.

"Great Elder-sama!" Amidst a chorus of greetings, Masahiko nodded and asked the clansmen to settle in those who had just returned.

"Yuna, come with me. I found your mother's chakra." Masahiko sensed Yiko's chakra inside the palace.

The two walked into the palace, and Masahiko heard arguing coming from inside.

"Gensuke! Sensei's room cannot be demolished!"

"Yiko, I've already had someone build a better house for the Great Elder. Besides, inside the palace, there are quarters for the Great Elder as well. His original house is so dilapidated it's barely standing."

"Even so, you can't tear it down. Maybe Sensei likes that house!"

...

Listening, Masahiko gradually understood what was happening.

Walking into the inner room, the two arguing people turned around. Nanako stood beside them, looking helpless.

"Mother!" Yuna shouted and ran over to hug Yiko.

"Er, Great Elder-sama," Gensuke hesitated. "You're back."

Masahiko glared at him. "If I didn't come back, I probably wouldn't have a place to live."

Nanako looked embarrassed. "Sensei, Gensuke didn't mean that. Your original house really isn't livable anymore; it can't be repaired..."

Masahiko froze. "My house..."

His residence in the Uzumaki clan had been built for him by his older brother, the Clan Head, after their parents passed away when he was less than twenty. More than sixty years had passed in a flash. It wasn't easy for the house to last this long.

"Let's not talk about my house for now. Gensuke, why did you build such a big palace?"

Gensuke was stunned and looked confused. "Great Elder, didn't you say we were going to establish a nation? Doesn't a nation need a palace?"

Masahiko sighed helplessly. "I visited the capital of the Land of Fire over twenty years ago. There was indeed a Daimyo's palace, but it was about the same size as yours now. And you mean to expand it further? Our population isn't even one-tenth of the Land of Fire, yet our extravagance exceeds theirs. Is that appropriate?"

Gensuke mumbled something, unable to refute.

"Gensuke, see? Sensei also disagrees with building such a large palace," Yiko chimed in.

Nanako looked helpless. She found that her little junior sister always liked to go against Gensuke lately, and she felt uncomfortable caught in the middle.

Masahiko noticed this too. An idea struck him, and he smiled.

"Gensuke, are you competent to be the Daimyo of the Land of Whirlpools?"

Gensuke froze. "Great Elder, is our country going to be called the Land of Whirlpools? I can handle it!"

Masahiko nodded. "After you become Daimyo, you will have to manage the civilians dependent on the Uzumaki clan. It wouldn't be good to concurrently serve as the Clan Head."

Gensuke's expression changed. "Great Elder, Nanako helps me manage..."

Masahiko shook his head with a smile. "Let Yiko be the Clan Head. You husband and wife focus fully on managing the Land of Whirlpools."

"Okay, Sensei," Yiko interjected before Gensuke could speak. Gensuke's expression changed several times, but he didn't object further.

Masahiko nodded. Even with him supervising, he wasn't completely at ease handing all power to Gensuke. But with Yiko there, he felt he would have much less to worry about.

"Alright, you guys continue building our own country. I won't interfere. No need to save a room for me in the palace either." Masahiko waved his hand and walked out.

"Great Elder, your new house has been built not far away. The old Clan Head lives there too. I'll have someone take you there!" Gensuke shouted after him.

"My big nephew...? Forget it, I'll go see my old home first!"

Masahiko made a few turns and arrived at his familiar home. Cracks covered the walls of the house. Masahiko frowned slightly.

"It really isn't livable anymore..."

"Earth Release: Dropping Lid (modified)!"

Masahiko formed seals, and clay fell from the sky, patching up the damaged parts of the house.

Masahiko grinned wryly. "This is too ugly. Is there a ninjutsu for beautifying houses?"

Facts proved there wasn't.

"Forget it. Earth Release: Bedrock Coffin (modified)!" Masahiko raised the house from the ground and sealed the entire thing into a scroll.

"Keep it as a memento..."

"As for where to live next..." Masahiko frowned. He didn't want to go to the new house Gensuke built for him because he sensed the Uzumaki clan would face some trouble later.

"Nations are starting to research Jinchuriki. I'm afraid they'll target the Uzumaki. With me here, I'm not afraid of them attacking, but losing a clansman every few days would be unbearable," Masahiko muttered. "Konoha is to the west, Kumogakure to the north, Kirigakure to the east. So, living in the northeast of the Land of Whirlpools is the way to go. Fortunately, the Uzumaki territory isn't big..."

"Living by the sea... just right to train again once the side effects of the Eight Inner Gates pass. I still have 300 Witness Points left..." Masahiko was still unreconciled about not solidifying his title of 'Uzumaki Kyūhai' in the previous battle.

Time flew by. In early Year 14 of Konoha, the Land of Whirlpools was officially established!

Masahiko felt a bit disappointed as he watched the excited Gensuke announce the founding of the Land of Whirlpools.

"As expected, once I've received Witness Points for something, I can't get them again?"

The establishment of the Land of Whirlpools didn't grant him a single Witness Point, proving that "farming" points repeatedly on the same event wasn't feasible.

"Forget it, I shouldn't dream of such good things..."
