It had been a little over three months since Broly married Bulma and the other three women. After subtracting the two months spent on post-wedding chaos, Broly had poured every remaining moment into training. Under his intentional suppression, his power level had barely pushed its way up to eighty thousand.
That's right — even with the legendary Super Saiyan bloodline awakened, he'd only reached around 80,000. The main reason was that Broly kept siphoning off part of the bloodline's constant power surge to temper his body, while another portion sank deeper into his genetics, nurturing his Saiyan lineage.
And of course, he was doing it on purpose. Broly had always felt that shooting his power up too quickly just because he could wasn't a good idea. Sure, he could crush everything early on… but later? His foundation would be shaky, and reaching the level of a God of Destruction — the state, not the raw battle power — would become a nightmare. He might even end up needing that method Shenron mentioned in Battle of Gods, where five Saiyans focus their energy into a sixth. And Broly? No way in hell would he rely on others to boost his power.
So he chose to sacrifice time early on to build a solid base. Broly preferred growing stronger by fighting powerful enemies, not sitting alone in a room grinding disciplines.
By his estimation, this slow-but-steady method would eventually snowball. The stronger he became, the stronger the legendary Super Saiyan energy inside him would grow. And once that internal power grew, the passive energy boost would increase as well, letting him refine his body faster and free up more time to raise his battle strength. A healthy cycle.
Once he pushed his natural power level to about ten million, he'd transform into a Super Saiyan without even trying. At that point he wouldn't have to suppress anything — he'd be able to stay in Full-Power Super Saiyan as his default state.
As long as he could transform at will, he'd be able to fully exploit the legendary bloodline: keep a portion of energy dedicated to body refinement, maintain a physique tough enough to handle Super Saiyan stacked with Kaiō-ken, and push his limits without tearing himself apart.
Right then, the long-silent system — the one that liked to go dormant for ages — finally woke up again.
Ding! System quest chain activated: Mission 1/6. Defeat the three Saiyans about to arrive on Earth. Completing this mission will automatically trigger the next.

"So it's finally Vegeta and the other surviving Saiyans, huh? Seems like the timeline jumped ahead quite a bit. And the rewards… damn, that's generous. Upgrading Instant Transmission too? That should put me around Kibito-shin's level…"
Broly's eyes lit up. "So the Z-era plot is finally starting? Which means more and more strong enemies will show up soon."
He said it calmly, but inside he was buzzing. His body could barely stay still.
After all, only Broly knew how much he'd been suppressing his instincts for the past decade. A Saiyan — and not just any Saiyan, but a legendary-blooded Saiyan — was born to fight. And Broly had never hated that instinct. If anything, battle exhilaration was practically in his bones.
Still… should he spare Vegeta later? If he killed him, some of the future storylines would be way less interesting.
Broly had always had mixed feelings about Vegeta, especially around the Majin Buu arc — the perfect example of duality.
Before the Buu saga, Broly honestly looked down on him. When he came to Earth the first time, Vegeta killed Nappa, the subordinate who'd followed him since childhood. Whenever he met opponents he couldn't beat, he collapsed into despair way too easily. But the moment he gained a new power boost, he'd turn arrogant again… only to be humbled shortly after. Over and over. Hence the well-earned nickname: "Tragedy-ta."
But after the Buu arc started, Vegeta changed. His second time crying was right before he sacrificed himself in an attempt to take Majin Buu down with him.
He hugged Trunks — something he had never done. Piccolo wanted to say something but couldn't. The last look Vegeta gave toward the distance… it made it clear the old Vegeta was gone.
Honestly, Vegeta was one of the best-written characters in Dragon Ball. He let Babidi take control, but then broke free through sheer Saiyan pride — just because he wanted a valid excuse to fight Goku. During the fight, he admitted how much he hated the version of himself softened by love… yet deep down he knew he actually liked the life he'd built — family, friends, people he could protect. Someone to be proud in front of… and someone to act spoiled with.
His rivalry with Goku kept pushing him forward.
So Broly decided: he'd spare Vegeta. Later, if he felt itchy to fight, he could always go find Goku and Vegeta — those two battle junkies were perfect sparring partners.
If he had no one strong enough to fight, he'd suffocate from boredom.
Time flew, and a month passed. One morning, while training in the gravity chamber, Broly suddenly stopped.
He had sensed them — three powerful ki signatures rushing straight into Earth's atmosphere.
At the same moment, the Z-fighters — including Piccolo, who'd been training like crazy hoping to surpass Goku — all converged on the landing spot of those overwhelming energies.
