Immediately, the Caterpillar lunged at him at a terrifying speed. Nox froze, unable to move as he felt death approach him. He shut his eyes, bracing himself for pain but all he heard was flesh hitting a wall of some kind. '... Huh?'. He looked up, only to see Veil floating in front of his face with a wall of darkness surrounding them like a mini dome. Nox blinked twice before everything hit him. "Oi! What's going on right now?! Why is that thing trying to attack me?!". He shouted at Veil . "'Tch! If you listened when One speaks, you wouldn't have this issue!". "How was I supposed to know?!". Nox fired back. As Veil was about to throw a cheeky reply, a loud bang sounded as the shield shook, effectively stopping the argument. They both fell silent as an ear piercing shriek sounding like a dying animal split the silence.
*SCREEEECH!!!!*
"'... Ugh... Listen to One mortal! If you don't, you'll die and One will have to look for another Vessel!". Nox felt sweat dripping down him like streams and immediately, nausea hit him. He fell to his knees, wretching as the weight of the whole situation crashed into him. 'This bastard wants me to fight that thing?!'. The mere thought made him wretch again while Veil simply scoffed. "'... Tsk! You're weak and useless."'. Nox gasped as he tried to catch his breath . He looked at Veil and asked, "... What is it that you want from me?". At this, a maniacal and evil laughter boomed through the night air, causing the Ruach Ra'ah to pause. "'... Give One your body, your soul, your everything and One shall save you. Do you dare to pledge yourself to One?"'
Nox stared at Veil, he thought about the Ruach Ra'ah outside the dome and thought about how he had been betrayed and used. Anger swirled in his eyes as he answered unflinchingly, "I dare."
In that moment, it felt as though time stopped. Then a mouth open on Veil's form and devoured Nox's body completely.
"'I accept you, Ben HaChoshech..."'
*BOOM!*
The dome shattered, sending the Ruach Ra'ah flying several feet away. It anchored itself to the ground with its many arms and looked towards the spot where Nox was. It saw Nox, sprawled on the ground motionless. It looked at the unmoving body, it's instinct warning it of danger. Slowly, Nox rose. He inspected his hands and body, stretching and warming up. As if he was getting used to his body all while his eyes were shut.
".... What are you doing?". The Ruach Ra'ah spoke warily as it assessed the being before it. Slowly, he turned to face the Ruach Ra'ah fully as he grinned from ear-to-ear like a cheshire cat, his eyes opening to reveal a black swirling abyss. The temperature instantly dropped and it was clear that Veil had taken control. Immediately the Ruach Ra'ah felt a sense of danger when looking at the human before it. Something about it felt off. It's survival instinct kicked in and it decided to shoot a barrage of purple mucus balls at Veil and escape. However, before it could do that, crouched low like a predator, his own shadow wrapped around his hands forming clawed gauntlets. He looked straight at his prey with his eerie smile.
"'One is hungry~!"'. He stared straight at the prey before him, his smile widening. If the Ruach Ra'ah was scared at first, now it was terrified. Immediately, it shot out a barrage of purple mucus and bolted. However , Veil sprinted at that exact moment leaving a small crater where he stood initially. He dodged the balls of mucus skillfully, dug his leg into the ground and launched himself at the Ruach Ra'ah all while laughing hysterically. "'...Hahahah! Got you!"'
Before the creature could react, the rest of it's body fell as the claws of Veil's gauntlet skewered the head of the creature. Veil laughed hysterically as he marveled at his handiwork. "'Hahahahaha! It's been Eons since One got to move around! How exhilarating! How wonderful it is.... to be back!"'. He glanced at the head of the Ruach Ra'ah. "'... It's a pity though, I overexerted this body's capabilities... If I don't feast, this body will crumble and die.... Hah, One shouldn't have let that brat go unconscious so he can eat this first catch himself... oh well, One is a magnanimous being. One will eat it for him..."'. Veil glanced at his catch and said in a low voice,
"'... Devour..."'
The shadow gauntlet warped back into his original shadow then changed into the maw of beast. It directly devoured the body, leaving not even blood. Once it was over. He cracked his knuckles and walked back into the hospital.
As he walked, he stopped then continued walking, ignoring whatever was lurking in the shadows. In the shadows, something watched him with keen interest.
