That idiot Oscar came to see me after the teachers decided his punishment.
His eyes darted around in panic. But when he looked at me, it felt like he wanted to chew me up on the spot.
With a trembling voice, he threatened me.
"You have to fix this. If you don't, I'll tell everyone that you were the one who gave me those documents."
I flinched at his outburst. My eyes immediately filled with tears. I looked down, then up at him, again and again.
He looked startled by my reaction.
As he should be. I was an expert at looking weak and deserving of pity.
I spoke in a sorrowful voice.
"I truly thought the ae-device was yours, Oscar. You said it was your work, so I gave you the documents."
The bloodshot look in his eyes softened a little. But then he shook his head and spoke accusingly.
"You gave me the documents, so why did you say I stole them?!"
"I never meant it that way." I lowered my head, like someone who had committed a grave mistake.
