The moment the Vampire Nobles uttered those words, I shielded myself and Clementine in Telekinetic barriers.
A strange pulse pushed me back.
Then, my blood seemed to turn a little colder.
But aside from that, there was nothing else.
Thanks to my Telekinetic barriers, Clementine and I were safe from the Vampire Nobles' Blood Manipulation.
Though we were far from safe from their actual attacks.
The three Vampire Nobles turned into bats and scattered.
Encircling us in a triangle shape, they each raised their hands, conjuring dozens of sharp objects made of blood.
But I had no intention of letting them finish their attacks.
Neither did Clementine.
100 Clorafite weapons appeared out of thin air.
They circled me rapidly until suddenly halting.
This was one of those times I wasn't sure if I could do something.
But I tried it anyway.
I increased the density of each of the 100 Clorafite Weapons once.
A sharp headache followed.
Ignoring it, I glared directly at one of the Vampire Nobles.
In a split second, all of my Clorafite Weapons shot forward, blasting through the sound barrier and tearing through the Vampire Noble's body.
Or so I had wished.
The Vampire Noble turned into red mist, dodging all of my Clorafite Weapons.
Before it could return to its vampire form, Clementine's Soul Weapons attacked it in a flurry.
But then again, we weren't fighting just some random demon.
We were fighting someone who could be considered on the stronger end of the world.
So although the Vampire Noble couldn't dodge all of Clementine's attacks, the other two intervened, rescuing him.
As the three regrouped, they stared down at us with frowns.
"Just what is your game plan here? Did you seriously expect to waltz in, kill us, and go out to claim your bounties?"
All three of them laughed in unison.
"Pfft... Well, if only the world was sunshine and rainbows. If only..."
The crimson moon above descended.
As the moon began to swirl, the sight of the city of Alvaras appeared.
It was as though a video was playing.
A very unpleasant video.
The city of Alvaras was set ablaze.
A tsunami of blood crashed against every end of the city as thousands of frenzied vampires bathed in the blood and corpses of the dead.
Right as that horrific sight engraved itself into my mind, the crimson moon returned to normal.
It floated back up to the sky and rested there as though nothing had happened.
But it did.
"Pfft..."
"The looks on your faces are priceless. Though you should feel honored. You two are the first real threat we've faced, and since that's the case, we'll be taking our leave of the Alvaras Territory."
Ah...
So there really wasn't any way to avoid something like this, huh?
Could we have killed all those vampires, and then dealt with the three Vampire Nobles?
No, we couldn't have.
And as I glanced toward the trembling Clementine, I saw she was staring at the ground in horror.
She had never seen something like this.
In her defense, neither had I.
But since my Mental Resistance was so high, seeing such a sight...
I felt dull.
"Well, now. Thank you for letting us take our time."
I turned toward the Vampire Nobles.
In the next instant, I saw three massive tornadoes of blood swirling behind them.
And with a simple smile, the three Vampire Nobles sent their attacks right for us.
Shit...
"Clementine, use your domain!"
A fraction of a second.
That was how long it took for Clementine to react to my words.
That was also how long it took for tens of thousands of Soul Weapons to appear and dissipate the Vampire Nobles' attacks.
The Soul Weapons slowly floated up to the sky, and then a couple thousand more appeared in the form of endless tsunamis that circled the Vampire Nobles.
"You trash..."
Her voice trembled.
As did the Soul Weapon tsunamis.
But in this realm, she was like a god.
Even if she was unstable, the amount of power she could use was just... too much.
Way too much.
She floated up atop one of the tsunamis and took me along with her.
And as we stared at the Vampire Nobles below, I could only hear curses coming from their mouths.
I cursed as well when I was on the receiving end of this attack.
So good luck, bastards.
Clementine lowered her hand and began her attack.
Because she had full control of herself, the attacks were unpredictable, but not like that mattered.
The Vampire Nobles knew they couldn't dodge her Soul Weapons from their first exchange, so instead, they opted to use their own domain to fight her off.
After all, she had used her domain inside theirs...
They had higher priority.
But not more power.
The crimson moon split into thousands of sharp pieces and hurtled toward Clementine.
She didn't even bat an eye.
Why would she?
I was right here.
Flicking my wrist, I froze every single one of the moon's pieces.
Then, with another flick, I discharged a burst of lightning throughout each one, disintegrating them.
In an instant, their attack was finished.
...Was what I thought.
A small particle had risen from beyond the tsunami.
I barely noticed it.
But when I did, it was already in front of Clementine.
My mind completely blanked out as I saw the particle grow thousands of times its size.
But even if my mind had blanked out, my instincts remained.
A single spark of lightning left my body and traveled between Clementine and the ever-expanding particle of blood.
Then, without meaning to, as I focused on the spark, I felt my body twisting and becoming lightweight.
In the next instant, I found myself standing right where the spark had traveled.
It was as if I had just traveled along my own lightning.
But those thoughts were muted as I suddenly embraced Clementine and used up every bit of energy I had to protect us.
And right as it felt like time resumed to normal, the Vampire Nobles' attack finally hit.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
