Chapter 25-Trap

When governor Martin got the news that two members of the purple Lagoon had been captured, he immediately left the guest house with Ola and Amir. Nothing was more important than this
"I'm one step ahead of that fool!" He smiled to himself as he got into his car
"Sir where are we rushing to? The whole city is infected" Ola asked trying to know why the man was in such a hurry
"Private matters dear. I think you should stay here. I will send a car to take you back to the office" the governor said shutting the car down
Before Ola could protest, Amir stepped on the paddle and drove off with speed
She stood there feeling frustrated and angry. She couldn't contact mon'itei to prevent the armed forces from tracking the group
"What do I do now?"
Three cars belonging to the members of the oracle drove away from the compound, leaving her all alone in the compound. The governor's assistant PA was inside the guest house, so Ola matched into the building hoping to get some info from the assistant PA
Tunde, the assistant PA was busy organising the meeting room when ola came in.
"Hey you done yet?" Ola asked smiling
"Almost." He replied without looking at her
Ola wanted to get his attention but he wasn't even facing her. She moved a bit closer to him and tapped him
"What?" He looked up
"Um just wondering if you need any help" she gave him a bewitching smile
"Um no. I thought you were leaving with the governor" Tunde asked rubbing his neck nervously
Ola just shrugged "he said it was private matters so I had to stay back"
"Oh, that's understandable" he nodded
"Do you know why he left in a hurry?" Ola leaned closer allowing Tunde to smell her seducing perfume
"Um i heard something when he was on the phone with his daughter"
"What? Anything bad happened?" She batted her lashes
"No not really. Kinda like a good news, two members of the purple Lagoon was just captured"
"What?!" Ola screamed before she could stop herself
Tunde looked at her confused "yeah"
"Um i mean that's great news. Thanks for the info" she rapped out suddenly feeling pale
"Yeah. At least we can put a stop to all these"
Ola just kept quiet. She felt like punching him
"Those idiots are just bastards trying to act some kind of action movie" Tunde joked trying to impress ola
Ola glared at the floor trying to keep herself from killing the poor guy
"Funny" she muttered
So now they have two members and probably keeping Aron somewhere too. I thought we could handle this like a ghost. But the armed forces were all infected with the gas, who helped capture them?
Ola's mind was swirling with different thoughts
"Um since I'm done and there's nothing to do, why don't we both head out to get lunch?" Tunde grinned at her
Ola looked at him from head to toe
"Huh?"
"I'm asking you out to a date" he winked
"I understood you. Do i look like your type or something? How can a dog like you date me? Mtcheew please move away before I behead you" she shoveled him and walked away
Tunde fell on the floor feeling embarrassed
"Momma was right. Ain't no way I'm getting a girl till I turn 69" he said sadly

Aurora's pov
I watched Aron from where I sat. He was still unconscious though the doctor said he'll be fine. Everything that happened today kept coming back, the crowd, green gas, Aron saving me....i smiled at that thought
He was really brave, the way he handled those goons were just incredible and the way he comforted me....i couldn't stop thinking about him
"Girl please stop watching him like that, you'd make me think he's your boyfriend or something"
I rolled ny eyes at the sound of Anna's voice
"Just leave her be" Michael said
"Leave her be? She's supposed to be mourning not crushing on some guy she just met"
"Anna please just shut up. I'm just worried about him!" I snapped
That finally kept her mouth shut
"Mmmm"
I looked up to see Aron stirring on the bed, his eyes fluttered open and scanned the room before they landed on me
"Hey" i smiled
"Hey" he said without smiling back
"Are you okay?" I stood up and went closer to him
"Yeah. You?" He scanned my face
"Yeah I'm okay" i smiled
He really cared about me

I mentally scolded myself
The doctor soon walked in and checked on Aron. He removed his stethoscope and then said to Aron
"You passed out because you were feeling dizzy?"
Aron nodded
"That's actually great, it means you're regaining your memory"
I beamed with a smile "that's awesome, we can finally locate your family"
The doctor nodded
"That's good doc, but I still can't remember everything though" he said smiling. But the the smile didn't reach his eyes, he was acting really strange for someone who was about to regain his memory
"It'll take some time but at least we're seeing some progress" the doctor said "just continue taking your drugs"
Aron nodded
The doctor turned towards me "Miss Starry, i have to go now. There's a crowd of infected people waiting for us to treat them"
"That's okay. I just pray we find a cure for this toxin" i said rubbing my palm nervously
"Um actually we don't need a cure" the doctor said
"Really?"
"Yeah"
"Why?"
"The toxins that was sprayed today was only in mild form. It's not really deadly but powerful enough to cripple the victims for 24 hours. I'm going to administer seductives to the victims so they can sleep and recover tomorrow, but we don't have enough nurses and this is the only hospital that hasn't been bombed" he explained
I just nodded. This purple gang just wanted to scare the city, a warning for something big coming. I rubbed my face feeling really stressed out
"Um what about the game governor? Is he coming to help?" I asked
"Yeah. He's sending some health workers from other states in Nigeria to help out." The doctor smiled
I was actually shocked, it wasn't everyday that you'd see my corrupt dad helping the masses. Maybe all these was actually getting to him
"That's good. I'll make some blogs to inform civilians from other parts of Lagos that hasn't been affected, to wear nose mask and stay indoors for now" i said
"Thanks. We need all the help we can get right now"
I just smiled. With that he walked out of the room. I turned towards Anna and Michael who were just looking at me with worried faces
"What?" I rolled my eyes
"You seem really stressed" Anna said removing her nose mask
"We all are" i shrugged
"How was Ur meeting with the DPO?" Michael asked
I didn't even know how to tell them. Anna would probably freak out once she finds out the DPO was not on our side
"Ummm" i looked at Aron who was staring at us "let's talk outside"
They both looked at Aron and nodded
We walked out of the ward and shut the door so Aron couldn't hear. Honestly no matter how close Aron and I were becoming, i still didn't feel like trusting him
"Sooo? Tell us, did he agree to help us? Anna asked
"No"
They both just froze
"Wait what? I thought you said we could trust him!" Anna yelled
People in the hallway started looking in our direction
"Would you keep your voice down?!" I whispered
"Don't tell me to keep my voice down. You just told our entire plan to someone who could be working for the government" she whispered angrily
"I'm sorry, i know I messed up" i said sadly
"Please tell me he didn't make any threats" Anna said pacing around nervously
"He kinda did. I think he knows something, the way he was acting when i told him about my suspicions...it was just strange"
"Aurora we're in danger. If it turns out that he knows something and is working for the secret group in the government, he could inform them about us" Micheal said dryly
I just kept quiet
"They might soon start monitoring you" Michael said
Anna was now sweating and shaking like a she goat
"Just calm down" i said to her
"Calm down?! I just got entangled in a web of political secrets and you're telling me to calm down. I told we should just let the armed forces handle this" She whimpered
"I didn't mention you two so there's no reason to panic. I think we should stay away from eachother for now so they suspect a thing since I know they'd be monitoring me" i said trying to calm Anna down
"We can't let you investigate this alone, you may get hurt" Micheal said
"They won't hurt, I'm the governor's daughter" i said
"But I'm not sure these guys know that. You've always hidden your identity" Micheal said
"True" i was growing helpless
I felt a hand on my shoulder and turned to see Micheal smiling at me (he never smiles!)
"Don't worry, i don't mind if they hurt me. I'll continue helping you in this fight" he said
I almost cried "thank you"
We both turned to Anna
"Fine, i can't let them hurt you too. You're my best friend so i gotta help even if I'm scared" she said
I just smiled "i love you guys"
I pulled in a warm hug not minding all the eyes on us.
"So what's the plan now?" Michael said pulling away
"Well we've got a lead. Two members of the purple Lagoon has been captured" Anna said surprising us
"Wow never thought you were the smart one" Micheal smirked
"What? I can be smart when I want to" she pouted
I just rolled my eyes
"That's good. We can interview them" i said
"Do you think they'll allow us to do that?" Michael asked
"We're journalists, it's our job. They don't have a choice" i frowned
"But isn't it weird? It's been an hour and no broadcast about the captive of the two members" Michael said rubbing his chin
He was right. Usually with this kind of update, the news media should be broadcasting it to inform the masses
"It's strange indeed, i think they're hiding it from the crowd. They don't want anyone to know about it"
"These government officials are definitely hiding something" Anna nodded
"Um Aurora how do we find out where they took the captives to since there was no broadcast?" Anna asked
"I don't know" i gave up
"Don't worry. I can hack into the military website, we can find the location" micheal the tech hero saved the day
"Isn't that illegal?" Anna frowned
"Got any other idea?" Michael frowned back
"Whatever lets do it" she shrugged
"Great. You guys hand on home, I'll meet you later"
I hugged them and they both left the hospital. I stood in the hallway still wondering if I was doing the right thing.
"Aurora?"
I jumped in fear as someone called me from behind. I turned and faced the person in shock
