Chapter 22 - Chakra Doubled!

Kakashi was still smiling faintly when Arata suddenly asked,

"Kakashi-sensei, do you really have the time to train me? You're already the instructor for Naruto and his team."

Kakashi waved a hand dismissively. "Don't worry about that. I'll balance both sides. I'll make it work."

Arata didn't question how exactly Kakashi planned to do that. He simply nodded. "Alright then."

Kakashi's tone grew serious. "Good. From tomorrow onward, we'll meet here every evening. I'll be waiting for you unless something urgent comes up. You must come—can you promise that?"

Arata met his gaze steadily. "No problem."

It wasn't as if he had much else to do. He didn't have friends to hang out with, and his days were pretty quiet anyway.

After talking for a while longer, the two finally parted ways.

On his way home, Arata couldn't help but shake his head with a faint smile.

Kakashi Hatake himself is going to train me… am I really that lucky? Or is this just because of Tomoe-sensei's connection?

He was sure Kakashi wouldn't bother otherwise. What he didn't realize was just how deeply his talent had shaken Kakashi's heart.

The Reason Kakashi Cared

Kakashi hadn't chosen to teach Team 7 out of passion—it was more out of duty. The Third Hokage had personally asked him to.

After all, Kakashi had once been the Fourth Hokage's personal student, as well as the captain of the Hokage's ANBU unit. When Naruto's mother, Kushina Uzumaki, was pregnant, Kakashi had even served as her bodyguard.

Given that Naruto carried the Nine-Tails, having Konoha's strongest jōnin watching over him seemed like the safest choice.

And then there was Sasuke Uchiha—the last survivor of his clan. The Third Hokage bore guilt over the Uchiha massacre and wanted Sasuke properly trained. Since Kakashi also wielded the Sharingan, he was the natural fit to guide him.

So Kakashi's role as Team 7's sensei wasn't exactly by choice—it was obligation.

But Arata was different.

Kakashi genuinely liked this boy. His talent was extraordinary—perhaps even greater than his own had been at that age.

When Kakashi was young, he had been a genius among geniuses—graduating from the academy at five, becoming a chūnin at six, and a jōnin at twelve. Even across the entire shinobi world, such achievements were legendary.

And yet, Kakashi could see something in Arata that he himself had lacked—a calm, grounded mind.

He had been proud, even if he didn't show it. Arata wasn't. That alone made him dangerous—in a good way.

If a genius like that wasn't guided properly, though… the consequences could be disastrous.

That was why Kakashi had personally approached Tomoe to ask permission to train Arata himself. Not out of pity or duty—but because he wanted to make sure Arata's potential didn't go astray.

Later that night, Kakashi appeared once again on Tomoe's balcony.

Tomoe sighed when he saw him. "You know, you could use the front door for once."

Kakashi leaned casually against the railing. "We've made our arrangement. His potential is far greater than either of us first thought."

Tomoe blinked in surprise, then smiled faintly. "Somehow, I'm not that shocked."

Kakashi chuckled. "You might be when you hear this."

"Oh?" Tomoe raised an eyebrow.

Kakashi looked toward the forest, his tone thoughtful. "I tested him a little tonight. His control, his reflexes, even his speed… He's already at chūnin level—stronger than most, actually."

Tomoe's eyes widened slightly.

Kakashi went on, "He only learned chakra control this morning. By the time I sparred with him, he'd already mastered it to a level that would impress even an experienced ninja."

"Right now, he only lacks powerful offensive jutsu. Once he learns those, he might even catch up to you."

Tomoe chuckled softly. "That kid…" He couldn't help feeling proud.

He truly saw Arata as his personal disciple. If he had been a combat specialist instead of an interrogator, he would never have handed Arata over to Kakashi.

Kakashi hesitated for a moment, then said quietly, "There's something else—you'll never believe it."

Tomoe tilted his head. "What is it?"

Kakashi looked him dead in the eye. "Arata possesses all five chakra natures."

Tomoe froze, the faint smile vanishing from his face. "What did you say?"

Kakashi nodded. "You heard me. He's got them all."

Tomoe's breath caught. "That's… that's impossible. You're sure?"

"I saw it myself."

Tomoe leaned back, stunned.

Having all five chakra natures wasn't just rare—it was nearly unheard of. Even among bloodline clans, it was beyond exceptional.

In Konoha, only Kakashi and the Third Hokage were known to have that trait. To call it a bloodline limit of its own wouldn't be far from the truth.

"Tell me you didn't mention this to anyone," Tomoe said sharply.

Kakashi shook his head. "Of course not. I know how dangerous that would be."

They both knew the truth: Konoha wasn't just sunlight and peace. Its roots were tangled in shadow.

If word got out that a civilian-born ninja possessed all five chakra elements, there were people—particularly in the shadows of Root—who would see him as an experiment waiting to happen.

Tomoe exhaled, finally relaxing. "Good. Make sure he hides it. Tell him to only use two chakra elements in public at most."

Kakashi nodded. "I'll make sure of it."

On this, the two former ANBU agreed completely—until Arata had the power to defend himself, his secret must stay buried.

Arata's Awakening

That night, Arata returned home, lying down on his bed as his consciousness drifted into the system's inner space.

A calm, mechanical voice echoed in his mind:

"AFK Progress Completed.

Chakra doubled.

Physical strength increased by one percent.

Speed doubled."

Arata's eyes opened, a faint grin tugging at his lips. His whole body felt light, alive, overflowing with power.

"My chakra… it's insane now. It might even be on par with Kakashi-sensei's," he muttered in disbelief.

Then another thought struck him. "The speed increase… that must be from my rough attempt at the Body Flicker Technique."

The Shunshin no Jutsu—Body Flicker—was a simple, low-level technique. By infusing chakra into the soles of one's feet, it boosted movement speed dramatically.

It was classified as a D-rank jutsu—something any genin could, in theory, learn.

But in Arata's hands, even a basic technique became something far greater.
