Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 'Sarutobi Jin'

Chapter 1

Sarutobi Jin

---

"Who am I?"

That was the sole question I could think of. I don't remember anything. I knew I was once a human. I knew I once lived a life, but I could not remember anything.

I just knew I was here alone in this place or rather a lack of it. It was as if I was in the endless space drifting mindlessly except there was nothing.

It was a kind of nothingness that could not be described or even comprehended. It was not like the dark I was familiar with-

"Was I familiar with the dark?"

I could not feel anything except my impending doom. I was already dead, but this felt worse than death.

.

..

...I was also being assimilated into this nothingness. I was becoming 'nothing'.

"I should just accept it."

A certain part of me felt and I agreed. I already lived my 'life', didn't I? No, I did not. I did not know what kind of life I led. The memories had already been long gone but I knew one thing for certain.

"I want to live."

And maybe that thought was the trigger; for I suddenly felt something. As if this space itself was rejecting me. That something became certainty when I in an instant found myself sitting in a chair in a normal office, looking at a man who looked to be an ordinary office worker.

"Welcome to the cycle of reincarnation!"

The man who looked to be ordinary in every way started speaking and I found myself unable to speak or even move. I was not meant to. That was what my whole existence screamed.

"I am what you would call an Angel or many other things according to what you believe but be not afraid because you are here to take guidance from me before you get reincarnated."

I still could not move or talk but one look in his face told me what I needed to know.

'You are meant to listen.'

"So first of all, right now you are nothing but a soul with no recollection of your previous lives."

Lives, he says. Now that was something interesting.

"It is interesting. In total you have lived around three life(s) although you won't remember all your life(s). You will eventually remember it and that's it.)"

'He can read my mind? Of course he can.'  I answered my own question.

"And that's it!"

The Angel's excitement was visible but..huh?

I blacked out.

"Sarutobi Jin."

A faint smile touched the woman's pale, sweat-covered face. The pain and stress of pregnancy had her tired, but she still held on.

"Your father would be so happy if he were still here with us" she whispered, cuddling the baby close. But her arms began losing its strength.

The midwife, watching the touching scene, noticed it right away and stepped forward.

"Akemi, you should rest now. Let me take the baby."

Akemi nodded weakly and handed the newborn over. The midwife smiled softly as she gazed at the sleeping infant.

'I hope you grow up to be a wonderful man, Jin.'

---

Sarutobi Jin was a peculiar child. That was what everyone said, and it was true. Afterall, how could a reincarnated man not be a peculiar child.

Reincarnation was not a new concept for Jin. He had already been reincarnated.

"It has already been three times."

Jin looked at his face in the mirror that hung in the wall. It was the same face. Even though he was a child he knew what his face would look like in the future.

'It seems my weapons and powers have not returned with me this time around or is it somewhere else?'

But Jin was not worried about it. He was more worried about where he had ended up. A fictional world he had watched in his first life.

'Naruto, wasn't it?'

'To think I reincarnated here but this might be the best place for me to try and break the chains. The chains of fate.'

Jin came out from his thoughts and looked around. This was his room. Although he had only turned three, two months ago, he already had his room.

It was not strange in this world.

"And it's much better than living in the wild."

Jin with a smile in his face got out of his room. His house was not big, but it had more than enough space for two people. Him and his mother.

"Mom!" Jin called out and in the usual manner she replied.

"Good morning, Jin."

"Good morning, Mom." Jin sat down at the table in the kitchen. His mother was cooking him some breakfast.

"I made sure to cook your favorites since today is the first day of your training in the clan."

Jin nodded with a smile. It was his first day of his training and the clan had forbid parents from teaching any techniques to children since it could hamper the growth or something like that. Jin was not too sure.

"Do you know what they will teach us at the training?" Jin expectedly looked at his mother, and she nodded her head.

"Well, all members of Sarutobi Clan have to go to the clan training even if they don't want to become a Ninja. So, it's nothing too serious. They will teach you some chakra exercises and the Sarutobi Fighting Style."

Jin nodded his head, but he knew there were more things his mother had to say.

"I also learned them but since I did not want to become a Ninja I only had two weeks of class but after that those who want to become Ninjas have two weeks of regular extra class and after that two days of training per week till they go to the Academy."

Jin nodded once again. Chakra exercises and a fighting style. He would need the chakra exercises to grasp the concept of Chakra since it's a different energy, but he knew there was no way any fighting style he learned from them would even amount to what he knew.

Or rather suit the fighting style he knew.

With his thoughts Jin anticipated the upcoming training, but his thoughts quickly subverted when he looked at the delicious fruits his mother had placed in front of him.
