Chapter 49 - Supreme Doom

Hyve looked toward Laufey, but she still did not retreat.

"You may be scared, but you are suggesting we abandon my children. Laufey, I thought you had some courage, but I see you are just like the others—loud behind the enemy's back, but in reality, you are just a coward."

Laufey assessed the situation, looked at Hyve one final time, and then disappeared from Midgard.

Hyve watched Laufey flee, then turned her gaze toward the Avengers slaughtering her children. A sudden rage overtook her, and her eyes fell upon Mosi.

Without hesitation, she appeared directly behind Mosi. Engaged in battle with Hyve's children, Mosi did not sense the enemy at his back.

Just as Mosi felt a presence, a sword pierced through him.

"Die, mongrel, for killing my children."

Hyve stabbed him twice before vanishing.

Firehair, hearing Hyve's words, looked toward Mosi. A torrent of fire erupted from her, launching toward Hyve and her remaining offspring.

Seeing Firehair's rage, the other Avengers began exerting their full strength. The death of one of their own had angered them all the more.

Odin also observed the situation. Though he did not feel the same grief as the others, the loss of an ally angered him deeply.

This time, Odin aimed directly for Hyve. Sensing the imminent threat, Hyve looked at the corpses of her children.

"I will return to avenge my children. When the time comes, you will pay a thousandfold for what I have lost here."

Watching Hyve's disappearing figure, Firehair moved to pursue, but Odin stopped her.

"Firehair, you must not enter the Negative Zone. It would only ignite a full-scale war—exactly what they want. Do not fall into their trap."

Firehair trembled with anger but remained. She turned her gaze to Hyve's surviving children and began slaughtering them once more.

"Agamotto, try to calm her, or she may become more dangerous than you can imagine."

Agamotto looked toward Firehair as the other teammates finished off the remaining creatures.

After battling for over seventy days and slaughtering billions of creatures, even Odin was exhausted. He surveyed the corpses scattered across the world, then looked at Mosi's lifeless body.

"Though he was mortal, he was a truly powerful warrior. He impressed me as a champion of his kind."

Everyone was somber over the loss of their comrade.

In another world...

Sigurd watched Chloe sitting across from everyone, pointing at Lucifer.

"You all have quite a unique circle—god, devil, and demon—vacationing together."

Then she looked toward Amenadiel.

"The most surprising thing I've discovered is you. As an angel, you should be his enemy, yet I see you helping him every time his identity is exposed."

Amenadiel looked at Chloe helplessly.

"I have no choice in the matter, Chloe. Mortals were never meant to know of us, so I must do what is necessary."

For months, Chloe had been wrestling with a whirlwind of emotions, unsure how to process all she had learned. She had even confided in a priest about Lucifer's identity, which caused some complications, but she still could not see a clear path forward.

Sigurd could only sigh. This wasn't his problem, but his mind raced with thoughts of what would be best for the future.

Hippolyta, sitting beside Sigurd, was lost in her own thoughts. The prospect of meeting Sigurd's parents weighed heavily on her, occupying her mind entirely.

Hela watched the people in the room grappling with their emotional struggles, not understanding any of it. She turned her attention to the television, where various programs played.

Sigurd looked at Hela and knew she was already bored with this world. Staying here would offer her nothing new, so he planned to return first to Hippolyta's world, then to his own.

An unknown time period, in a vast hall...

A green-hooded man wearing a mask sat solemnly, while another figure sat opposite him.

"Mephisto, you should not come to me with matters that hold no value."

Mephisto studied the green-hooded man, contemplating the power he wielded.

"Doom, you have achieved supremacy in this reality, but you must have sensed the disturbances in the multiverse."

Supreme Doom regarded Mephisto coldly.

"Speak plainly. I am not some minor demon from your underworld to be addressed in riddles."

Mephisto met Doom's gaze.

"There exists a timeline in the multiverse where a powerful group of Avengers could alter the history of our reality if they are not eliminated. You have built a formidable kingdom, but if they rise, your fall would be certain."

Supreme Doom considered this.

"To which time period do you refer?"

Mephisto replied,

"The prehistoric era."

Supreme Doom looked at him with skepticism.

"Those ancient relics could survive so long?"

Mephisto shook his head.

"Do not underestimate them. Even together, we may not be able to handle them."

Hearing this, a flicker of emotion crossed Doom's eyes.

"What, then, do you propose?"

Mephisto leaned forward.

"You must find allies powerful enough to confront them. Travel across different universes and timelines—assemble a team of the strongest beings the multiverse has to offer."

Supreme Doom studied Mephisto.

"Which reality is our target?"

Mephisto's voice lowered.

"Earth-616. But before you go there, other realities must be dismantled."

Doom inquired further, but Mephisto offered no additional reason.

"That is our arrangement. Succeed, and we both benefit."

Hearing this, Doom nodded, and Mephisto departed.

"So, I have finally uncovered the truth. That fool actually believed he could manipulate me."

Doom's laughter echoed through the empty hall.
