Chapter 141: T-Girl
"Took the stairs?"
Captain Black's serious face instantly collapsed. He looked incredulously at the alloy door—specifically designed to withstand a nuclear strike—and then at the innocent-looking Jade.
"That's impossible! Section 13's stairwell has triple biometric locks and an infrared sensor grid!"
"Maybe you guys should fix that sensor web. I crawled in through the second-floor vent; only a few rats saw me."
Jade spread her hands with nonchalance, then darted over to Gion's side like a nimble monkey, her eyes gleaming as she stared at Konpira.
"Hey, big sister, is that sword real? I mean, the kind that can actually cut through steel?"
Gion looked down at the little girl who barely reached her waist.
In those large, curiosity-filled eyes, she saw not a trace of fear toward a powerhouse, but rather pure excitement.
Interesting.
In the world of pirates, what ordinary civilian wouldn't be trembling in fear upon meeting a Marine Vice Admiral, terrified of offending a big shot?
"Don't touch that, kid."
Gion extended a finger, pressing it lightly against Jade's forehead just as she reached for the hilt, pushing her back half a meter.
"This isn't a toy. It kills people."
"Cool!"
Jade wasn't scared off in the least. Instead, she became even more excited, turning her head to look at the frantic Jackie.
"Uncle Jackie! Did you see? She must be an ancient knight from the East, or maybe a martial arts master from the Jianghu!!"
"Jade!"
Jackie covered his face in agony. He rushed forward in a few steps, grabbing Jade by the collar and lifting her up like a baby chick.
"Listen to me! This isn't a playground, and it's not one of your wacky ninja fantasies! That... that big guy earlier? You saw him. That was a real demon!"
As he spoke, Jackie began pushing Jade toward the door, his tone anxious.
"Captain Black has fully armed agents. Ms. Gion... has that scary sword. And you? You have a math test tomorrow!"
"I don't need agents! And I'm not afraid of a math test!"
Jade clung tightly to the doorframe, her feet kicking in the air, her protests making the interrogation room buzz.
"You guys can't handle this without me! Who helped you find the Talismans last time? Who pantsed Valmont? Me! T-Girl!"
"That was just luck! And it was an accident!"
Jackie was in the middle of a tug-of-war with his niece when he suddenly felt a chill on the back of his head.
Smack!
A crisp sound echoed through the room.
Two withered but powerful fingers struck Jackie's forehead without mercy.
"Ow!"
Jackie cried out in pain, instinctively letting go.
Jade took the opportunity to land, scurrying behind the figure that had suddenly appeared and making a funny face.
"Uncle!"
Jackie rubbed his forehead, looking aggrievedly at the skinny old man who had appeared behind him at some point.
"Why are you here too? Aren't you supposed to be watching the antique shop?"
"Watch the shop? One more thing!"
Uncle, wearing his signature yellow vest and small round spectacles perched on his nose, brandished a dried gecko in his hand, pointing aggressively at Jackie's nose.
"You left Uncle alone in the shop and didn't even brew the tea properly! And—"
Uncle paused, the dried gecko in his hand suddenly pointing in Gion's direction. A sharp glint flashed behind his lenses.
"There is a very heavy killing intent here. And a... strange smell."
Gion frowned slightly.
This old man, who looked like a stiff breeze could knock him over, gave her an inexplicable sense of pressure.
It wasn't a pressure of physical strength, but a transparent sensation, as if her soul were being seen through.
Her Observation Haki told her that this old man had barely any energy reaction in his body; he was as weak as a chicken.
But what was this intuition?
"Uncle, this is Ms. Gion."
Jackie hurriedly tried to smooth things over, shielding Jade behind him.
"She's... uh, here to help deal with Shendu."
"Help?"
Uncle pushed up his glasses. With steps that looked like he might fall apart at any moment, he tottered in front of Gion.
He looked the Marine Vice Admiral up and down, his gaze finally resting on Konpira at her waist.
"Only magic can defeat magic."
"Magic?"
Gion repeated the word, her tone carrying unconcealed skepticism.
Her slender fingers rested on Konpira's hilt, gently caressing the ancient patterns upon it.
A completely new power system?
"Old man, I don't know what this magic you speak of is, but I trust the sword in my hand."
Although the previous battle had been a setback, Gion didn't believe she had lost in terms of power.
That monster named Shendu merely relied on some bizarre self-healing ability.
If she cut off his head, or minced him into meat paste, she didn't believe the guy could still come back to life.
"Aiya! Young people these days are truly stubborn!"
Uncle hopped in anger, backhanding another finger-flick onto Jackie's head.
"Ow! Uncle, what does this have to do with me?"
Jackie clutched his head, looking wronged.
"Because you didn't explain the principles clearly!"
Uncle glared at his nephew, then turned back to Gion, his withered finger tapping the air.
"Do you think that is a generic lizard? That is Shendu! The Demon Sorcerer who once ruled all of Asia! His power comes from the twelve Talismans. That is the power of rules and order, not something that can be broken by brute force."
Captain Black chimed in at this moment.
"Although it sounds crazy, Ms. Gion, Uncle is right. We've used bazookas, laser weapons, even chemical toxins. Nothing worked on Shendu. He is... a supernatural existence."
Just then, the screen in front of Captain Black suddenly flashed red, and a piercing alarm resounded through the underground base.
"Captain! Satellite detects a high-energy reaction!"
A technician shouted in panic.
"The target is crossing the Pacific at supersonic speeds. Estimated arrival over Hong Kong, China, in twenty minutes!"
Black's face changed drastically as he quickly pulled up the satellite imagery.
On the screen, a crimson meteor tore through the night sky. Wherever it passed, the cloud layers were violently ripped apart, leaving a vacuum trail that lingered for a long time.
"So fast..."
Gion's pupils constricted slightly.
This kind of long-distance travel speed... even Marine Admiral Kizaru was only about this fast.
"Bad! This is very bad!"
Seeing the destination on the map, Uncle's face instantly turned pale, and he even dropped the dried pufferfish he was holding onto the floor.
"What's wrong, Uncle?"
Jade leaned in to ask.
"Hong Kong... that is where Shendu's palace used to be!"
Uncle took off his glasses and wiped them frantically, his voice trembling.
"He is going to resurrect his army! If we do not stop him, once he opens the Demon Gates and recalls his dragon army, the world will return to a rule of darkness!"
"Dragon army?"
Gion keenly seized upon the keyword.
"You're saying a monster as strong as him... has an entire army?"
"Worse than that!"
Uncle put his glasses back on, his expression more serious than ever before.
"If we don't stop him, shadows will cover the earth, and humanity will be reduced to slaves. This is not alarmist talk; this is a prophecy written in the ancient scrolls!"
