Chapter 28 - "Battle of Mind Games"

Quilia started heading towards the car where Antokio was taken out, perhaps in a deep sleep or taken out by chloroform.

She started jerking Antokio so that they could get back to Cleyn who was already closer to the ghost town.

"Get up moron. We are getting late." Quilia started, pushing Antokio harshly on the seat.

"What happened? Uhh..." Antokio said in mid sleep, he was feeling dizzy.

"We would get late you idiot. Cleyn needs us." Quilia started with red hot expressions.

"Watch your mouth ma'am. And yeah get in lets leave." Antokio said in a fury, sitting directly and started the car.

"I am your senior and you are not supposed to respond back to my orders." Quilia started aggressively opening the door and sitting.

Antokio wanted to respond but he kept the training of Cleyn in mind and stayed quiet.

The car started going slowly and gradually with them staying off silently which seemed pretty odd.

Normally, they both used to dig in a deep conversation. Antokio used to ask her about managing domestic life, job and being an activist so perfectly simultaneously.

On the other hand, she used to give him tips to impress his wife with the type of gifts and surprises woman usually preferred.

They used to share a good bond.

Antokio felt like she was just having a bad day which was completely normal for the kind of work load she used to handle everyday.

After moving a few km ahead, Antokio was getting fatigue again as he always used to have a sleep problem.

He looked around just to see Quilia asleep.

He stopped the car when he saw a black figure approaching them. He wanted to get a closer look but after one blink, the figure disappeared.

He got scared a bit and wanted to speed up the car which wouldn't do so.

The car wouldn't start again. Antokio didn't knew what to make of it.

He decided to wake Quilia up.

When he looked around, even she wasn't present there.

He looked forward.

The shadow was approaching him, often coming in patterns and getting disappeard midway.

Antokio realized he has thrown himself to the wolves.

He closed his eyes waiting for these incidents to stop.

After a matter of 5 minutes, he opened his eyes to see an even more horrific sight.

He saw that the car was on the edge of falling into a lava pit. He tried starting it and taking reverse but all went in vain.

He looked to his right to find Quilia completely blood soaked with a smile turning to a loud cry.

"It's all your fault. ALL YOUR FAULT." Quilia started crying loudly.

Antokio realized that it was really the end of the world for him.

He closed his eyes and faded out.

......................

At around 4 pm, Cleyn arrived closer to the ghost town in a public transport.

The bus driver left him at a town a few km away from the ghost town.

It was the place where Blayne's older cousin Jack Jacobs used to live now it belonged to a bunch of people who used to do their farming acts or live their old age in peace.

He never visited the infamous ghost town but heard rumours circulating around it.

He felt excited to head there but the thoughts of that shape shifting event was not leaving him alone.

He was there almost five years ago for a certain type of mysterious case so this felt as a deja vu for him.

He saw nowhere in the town.

He realized that it was quite a nap time for the old heads.

He silently decided to walk ahead and headed straight to the ghost town.

After walking around 6-7 km, he reached almost close to the ghost town.

The time was not certain but the dusk gave him quite a good answer.

The weather became colder than usual.

The roadway started covering itself in a mist and a white fog.

It felt like there was a hot shower going on with the reference of the fog.

Heading closer and closer to the ghost town, he was clearly hearing loud crying and shouting to his lefts and rights.

"Help me."

"Please let me out."

"This is getting suffocating."

Voices like these were echoing repeatedly in patterns around him in devilish tune.

He paid less heed to all those and went ahead.

His intentions were clear.

He had two aims in mind, finding Blayne and solving the mystery of this town.

He reached to the town gate almost 40-45 feet in height.

It was guarded by a large lock.

There were two large steel gates with sharp hooks on the top often avoiding trespassers.

Cleyn started looking for a way inside but he didn't find a way inside.

He couldn't enter somehow so he just just decided to climb his way inside.

The fog kept increasing hitting him right and left on his face.

The weather started to become harsh. It was getting windy all of a sudden.

Cleyn slowly and gradually climbing the gate which felt more tougher than climbing a mountain for him at that moment.

Due to the extreme wind, Cleyn hit his head and knees again and again on the steel but he never left the grip.

After reaching the zenith of the gate, he sat there in an unusual posture taking some rest.

He was avoiding slipping hard from a height of 40 feet as well as avoiding himself from getting hurt by the sharp hooks.

Somehow, he was lucky enough to do so for a while but when he was descending down towards the other side, he saw a bunch of figures slowly appearing through the fog.

This didn't scare Cleyn, not even a bit but he had questions in mind as usual.

On one side, he was now rethinking of jumping over and seeing who they were but on the other side, he wanted to move ahead and don't delay the search he was out there for.

The figures started approaching him, coming closer and closer.

Cleyn wasn't paying any attention to that.

As he was 15 feet closer to the ground, a horrific face approached him, soaked in blood.

It said; "Prepare to join us. You will pay a huge price for coming here." The face said with a laugh appearing in between a bloody face.

This sudden interaction made Cleyn flinch a bit not because he was scared but got shocked. This was because all he heard till now was the sound of the unpredictable nature.

He hit the floor hard on the back.

He looked there from where the face appeared.

Suddenly nothing was visible there.

The windy weather changed back to normal but the fog was consistent.

Cleyn questioned what he just saw but he wasn't allowing another thing to hit him more badly.

He started going ahead into the town.

The town seemed dead.

There was no motion.

Not even a single bulb or light in sight.

Suddenly, Cleyn heard the giant steel door open with a loud tuning sound.

It felt like it was hit by a tuning fork.

The man in the three piece suit appeared on the door, approaching towards him with a red rose in hand and a red smile on his pretty face.

The man was none other than Fletcher.

"Hi gentleman." Fletcher said, holding his hands back the back.

"Hi there but you seem to be the gentleman right now." Cleyn said taking a sigh of relief.

"Quite a funny response to be honest but I am genuinely concerned about you." Fletcher said, standing cross legged.

"Nothing much, I came here searching for a friend." Cleyn said, dusting himself off.

"I wonder whatever we search for, we end up searching something better or worser." Fletcher said, taking a step back.

"Hmm..quite philosophical." Cleyn said twisting his head.

"Be really careful around the nature. Sometimes, it offers you the best surprises or the worst nightmares." Fletcher said, with a silent laugh.

"Alright sir. I understand. Do you know any guest house here, Mr Philosophy?" Cleyn said, looking directly at Fletcher.

An unusual expression came on Fletcher's face but he hid it immediately.

"Yeah follow me. You can stay at my palace." Fletcher said putting a hand on Cleyn's shoulder.

"Thank you blud & sorry to ask you this late. What's ur good name?" Cleyn said, putting his hand on Fletcher's shoulder as well.

"My name is Fletcher Fleet Flichwood Fron-III but you can call me Fletcher" Fletcher said with a smile.

"Alright buddy." Cleyn said, with a smile as well.

Both started heading towards the palace of Fletcher, disappearing into the fog.

......................

On the other side, when Quilia opened her eyes after that small talk with Antokio. She found herself at the entrance of the ghost town.

The clock was hitting close to 2 am.

She stood there sitting alone in the car.

Antokio was nowhere to be seen.

She quickly left the car and started looking around for Antokio.

After a small search and shouting Antokio's name repeatedly, she felt a presence behind her.

There was a man standing there on the entrance of the ghost town in a black three piece suit.

It was indeed none other than Fletcher.

They was a small smile on his face as he saw that it was the latest victim but sadly it was a woman so she couldn't be killed.
