Chapter 2 - The Usurper Falls

A man runs for his life barely hanging on a thread. It is near he said calmly as if luring something into a trap. He continued to run as far away as possible carrying a billet towards a forge...

In a mountain lies a peaceful village established by its agriculture for generations of cultivating a herb called Vita Flower or otherwise known as the flower of life. The herb was falsely labeled as flower of life by the belief that it could cure any disease, in actuality it is just herb used in soup for a rich flavor unique only to the herb. The village beside the mountain was called Mt. Flora Town for its abundant amount of flowers growing beside the village. Though the scenery was seemingly harmless, the mountain itself holds a terrible secret unknown to the people of the village...

At night a man was growing restless as he felt something was off with the mountain. He noticed the day by day the stone fell off the sides of the mountain and what he saw underneath resembled scales? No.. that can't be right, can it? is it just a coincidence? the man said in his room trying to comprehend what was happening to the mountain by comparing photographs on different angles of the mountain. He quickly noticed at all angles there was a scale pattern, almost lifelike...

Then one day... The mountain began to shake violently as dust plagued the landscape causing a sandstorm. Rubble and debris landed down the rivers and plains, the village fell down along with its foundation luckily with few casualties. A massive eye began to twitch from the side of the mountain as the rest of the mountain turned to a pile of boulders and dust.

The man quickly grabbed his billet from the shelf of his storage room and ran away from the mountain and into the plains where a forge laid dormant. He kept falling from the crumbling foundations of Mt. Flora Town until he landed on the riverside, he was injured but his undying resolve to carry the billet into the plains was solid as steel. He swam across the river into the plains and began to run once more, he wanted to reach the forge as soon as the mountain fully crumbled.

A massive roar can be heard across the whole province. The man was losing hope as he realized the gigantic dragon awakened and emerged with its wings destroying the remaining stone left from its constraints. He finally reached the forge and quickly began to create a blade from the billet. He knew it was special but he did not know why he had the idea to forge it now when there is a dangerous beast out on the loose. His hammer quickly strikes the hard metal shaping it into a blade. He then quenches the blade in oil and assembled it in a rush. The man finally finished the blade and ran towards the direction of the beast.

The man screamed "You beast... You shall never harm my people for this blade will be your prison!" the blade glows in his hands as he chanted a spell "Cast aside the flesh and bone, engrave the soul into this vessel, seal its power never to harm an innocent!" The massive dragon stabs the man in the heart spilling blood on the blade. It glows one last time and absorbs the dragon into the blade.

Rain poured into the ruin of the mountains, as the body of that man kneeled still gripping the blade...

The knights came to the now destroyed mountain seeing the man in his sacrifice sealed the dragon inside the blade...

They knelt before him, crying in deep sadness and admiration, thanking him for his sacrifice. In their time of being knights they had never seen a man brave enough to give up his own for everyone even if he was a stranger to them. The day came where his funeral was held, his name was written in stone as the first Everknight. Those who came from the village recognized him as the simple young man living who was caring, helpful, and kind. They brought the flowers that remained in the ruin of the mountain and planted it near the mountain where he died, and where he is now buried...

The legend did not end with him as many others came and gave their lives for the safety of the people. All who held the title Everknight was buried on the mountain which now home to The Flowering Ruin.
