Chapter 38 - The Battle Of The Fog
She flinched away from him, her gaze shifting sharply to Arik who was still in the cot and was now waking up for his nightly feeling.
Her legs swayed underneath her as they hit the floor with a weird sensation, and she staggered, her throat tightening.
"Are you alright, Julie?" She could hear an echo from the back of her mind, as he had spoken from a good distance away.
The room whirled around her and she just couldn't get to Arik's cot no matter how hard she tried. It wasn't that far. It was somewhere close to the sofa. Why was this that hard?
He would soon start crying. His sleep these days has not been as long as it used to be.
She felt the Prince turned her to him and she coughed. Blood spluttered from her mouth, staining his white blazer.
She tasted her blood again, only this time with the drink and something very bitter.
