Chapter 9 - Breaths Behind the Door

Night still hung over the city like a weight pressing down from above.

The air was cold, the streets silent, houses swallowed by a thick curtain of sleep.

But three people… were not sleeping.

Ren.

Mina.

Yuna.

They were awake at the same hours, but no longer in the same world.

Each of their minds was stepping into a different kind of darkness.

---

Ren – On the Road Back

After finishing his morning training with Sam, Ren headed into the streets.

His muscles still trembled—not just from exhaustion… but from anger, expectation, and the darkness he could no longer control.

He watched the sky change color.

As the pale pink of dawn spread across the rooftops, Ren's thoughts fixed on one thing:

The crack in Mina's voice.

Her breathing through the night…

Her trembling thoughts…

Her whispered words to herself…

All of them etched themselves into Ren's mind.

"Was it really this easy?" he thought.

"To make her like this… does she break this fast?"

But then he shook his head.

No.

Mina wasn't someone who broke easily.

This was only the beginning.

Under the breaking… was attachment.

A dark smile crept onto Ren's lips.

"She'll cling even more…"

As he walked across the asphalt, the veins on his arms swelled ever so slightly.

He was getting stronger.

Little by little, every day.

And two women… were collapsing because of him.

One covered in blood.

One craving him to the point she could barely breathe.

For Ren… this was a strange kind of satisfaction.

He took another step.

Approached the house.

But before he even touched the door—

He felt something.

A presence.

A breath.

A window slightly open on the upper right floor.

And there—

Yuna.

Watching him from the window.

Her hair a mess, the shirt she wore looked like one of Ren's school colors.

Her arms rested on the window frame, her head tilted slightly.

Her eyes… were pure obsession.

Ren: "Does this girl ever sleep?"

He opened the door and walked inside.

But the shadow at the window didn't move.

Yuna was still watching him.

Her eyelids heavy.

Her lips bitten.

A strange excitement glowing on her pale face…

"Ren…" she whispered through the glass.

"I think… I'm becoming addicted to you…"

But Ren didn't hear it.

Or even if he did, he wouldn't care.

---

Mina – The Scent of Blood

As Ren entered the house, something filled the air:

Mina's scent.

Blood…

Glass dust…

A suppressed scream…

As he walked past her door, his earpiece vibrated lightly.

Mina was breathing.

But out of control—deep and uneven.

Ren didn't look toward the door, but turned on the listener.

> Mina (to herself):

"Ren… why do you do this to me…

Why do I feel like this…"

Ren sat on his bed and kicked off his shoes.

He listened to every word.

> Mina:

"Yuna… why did she look at him like that… why did they kiss…

Ren… Ren… no one else… no one else can…"

Her sentences were broken, but full of dark dependence.

Ren leaned his head back.

"She's attaching."

The knowledge settled on his shoulders like a newly forged weight.

Her steps away from him…

Her attempts to keep distance…

All of it made her cling to him more.

But then Mina's voice changed.

Lower.

More shattered.

> "Come… come to my door…

Ren, please… let me talk to you once…"

Ren closed his eyes.

This was dangerous.

This… was the edge of obsession.

When someone starts calling out,

they soon start screaming.

If they scream, they reach out.

If they reach out… they don't let go.

But Ren…

did not go to that door.

He lay down and whispered to himself:

"Not yet."

---

Sam – Suspicion

After leaving the gym, Sam found himself thinking about Ren.

He was hitting too hard.

Too controlled… but with a kind of fire that didn't feel natural.

He'd trained countless students.

Some were full of ego.

Some overly ambitious.

Some hated being weak.

But Ren… was different.

Driving, Sam frowned to himself:

"What if this kid… is planning something bad?"

And the question refused to leave his mind.

---

Yuna – Breath on the Glass

Yuna hadn't left the window all morning.

Even after Ren walked inside, she stayed.

Head against the curtain, eyes unfocused.

She replayed the night over and over:

The way Ren held her hair…

How he approached her…

That cold stare…

The warm, dark breath against her lips when he kissed her…

Yuna touched her lips with her fingers.

"I want more…" she whispered.

Without hesitation…

She left the window and walked toward Ren's door.

Her steps slow, heavy from lack of sleep, but her mind razor sharp.

She reached the door.

Raised her hand.

Knock.

Knock knock.

No answer.

Yuna smiled.

"You must be asleep…

That's okay."

She leaned her back against the door and tilted her head up.

And waited.

Minutes passed.

Yuna waited.

Hours passed.

Yuna waited.

Obsession… turned people into this.

---

Ren – Awakening

Ren slept for two hours.

His eyelids were heavy, but his mind was awake.

When he opened his eyes, it was 10:13.

Someone was at his door.

A quiet breath.

A fragile presence.

Ren activated the listener:

> Yuna's thoughts:

"Please open… please…

Let me see your face again…

Let me feel your scent one more time…"

Ren exhaled slowly.

"She's attaching too fast."

He went downstairs.

Walked to the door.

Yuna straightened the second she heard footsteps.

The door opened.

Ren stood before her.

Yuna's eyes trembled.

Yuna: "R–Ren… I needed to see you…"

Ren studied her.

Hair messy.

Eyes tired yet burning.

Shirt slipping off her shoulder.

Breath shaking.

Pure obsession.

Ren: "Why are you here?"

Yuna: "I missed you. Since last night… I can't breathe.

After you kissed me… something's burning inside me, Ren."

Ren said nothing.

Yuna reached out with trembling fingers, touching his arm.

"Please… kiss me again."

Ren raised an eyebrow.

"She wants to see how far she can go…" he thought.

Yuna's pupils widened.

Ren: "Yuna."

"Y–yes?"

Ren: "If I kiss you again… you'll belong to me.

You won't be able to go back."

Yuna's breath stopped.

But her answer came instantly.

"I already belong to you."

Ren stepped closer.

Lifted her chin.

Looked into her eyes.

But didn't kiss her.

He leaned to her ear.

"First… I'll test you."

Then he pulled back.

Yuna's legs nearly gave out.

"Ren… Ren wait… don't leave me like this…"

Ren closed the door.

That was it.

Yuna stayed there.

Didn't move for a long time.

Then she smiled.

"You can't escape me…"

---

Mina – From Silence to Scream

Mina finally left her room.

Her foot was bleeding, but she didn't care.

She walked toward the door.

Reached out.

But a slap-like truth appeared before her:

Wet footprints from Yuna…

A breath mark on the fogged glass…

Warmth still lingering on the door handle…

Mina's eyes widened.

"M–Mina was here?"

Her heart slammed against her chest.

"Ren… did he open the door for her?

Did they talk?

Again… that girl…"

A sharp pain stabbed her chest.

Mina clenched her fists.

Fire lit behind her eyes.

"I have to keep Yuna… away from Ren."

---

Ren – In Front of the Mirror

Ren stood before the mirror again.

Lifted his shirt.

His abs were sharper than they were last night.

His arms fuller.

His posture stronger.

But there was another change on Ren's face:

The darkness in his eyes had deepened.

He stared at himself for a long time.

"Where is this power leading me?" he murmured.

But the answer was obvious.

Control.

Dominance.

Obsession.

Submission.

Passion.

And eventually…

Breaking.

Ren touched the mirror.

"We're just getting started…"

---

New Danger – The Mysterious Text

Right then, his phone buzzed.

Unknown number:

"Ren. Be careful with Sam."

His veins tightened.

> "He's watching you.

He knows more than you think."

Ren frowned.

Who was this?

Who was watching him?

What did Sam know?

The phone buzzed again.

> "And Mina…

You're about to lose her.

She'll do something soon."

Ren's eyes narrowed.

"Who… are you?"

No reply.

But the last line chilled him more than anything:

> "Be careful with Yuna…

She's much more dangerous than you think."

Ren lifted his head.

Took a deep breath.

Then whispered:

"Good."
