Chapter 135: The Reason for Joe's Broken Legs
After Chris said he had a solution, Joe excitedly picked up Bonnie and shouted, "Did you hear that, Bonnie? I told you Chris would have a solution."
"Yes, Joe. I heard it." Bonnie hugged Joe's head and sobbed softly.
Only this time, unlike before, it was out of joy and excitement.
Unable to stand the couple's public display of affection in front of him, Chris took out a genuine dragon blood serum stored in his wristband.
He placed it on Joe's numb leg, then helped Joe turn his wheelchair around and gently pushed it toward his home.
"It can be taken orally or applied topically. But I recommend you realign the bones and muscles before using it, otherwise the recovery will be very slow."
Watching Joe wheel himself into the house, Chris turned to look at Peter, who still hadn't gotten up, thought for a moment, and then walked toward Quagmire's house.
The guys were all one unit; except for Cleveland, who would temporarily leave the small group for special reasons at times, the four of them did everything together.
So since Joe was unwilling to speak, and that moron Peter wouldn't honestly confess, Chris decided to start with Quagmire.
Arriving at Quagmire's house, Chris first sensed if there were any inappropriate scenes inside, then knocked on the door.
Knock knock knock!
Just as he knocked, Chris saw the door open, and then a dazed Quagmire walked out from inside.
"Oh, it's Chris!"
Seeing Chris arrive, Quagmire's spirit lifted. He then reached his arm behind the door, pulled out a bottle of dragon blood energy drink, and chugged it.
"Whew! This feeling is amazing! Dude, I love this drink you developed."
Quagmire, who'd downed the drink, was visibly more energized. He tossed the empty bottle behind him and then invited, "Come in, the room might be a little messy."
Chris followed Quagmire into the house, only to find it wasn't just a little messy; it was no different from a strip club.
Sticky floors, discarded adult items everywhere, and visible suspicious stains.
Noticing Chris's resistance, Quagmire said awkwardly, "Haha, I'm really sorry. I've been doing special training recently, trying to test the limits of human endurance, so I haven't had time to clean up."
Seeing Chris's extremely shocked expression, Quagmire emphasized, "This is all thanks to you, Chris! If it weren't for the energy drink you developed, I wouldn't dare to do this kind of experiment. After all, one wrong move and you could literally die."
What a disaster!
Chris cried out in his heart. If this got out, how would others view him?
Wouldn't he be worshipped by those sleazy middle-aged men who regained their mojo thanks to the dragon blood drink?
Thinking he might occupy a place in the hearts of those men, Chris was glad he hadn't widely publicized the news that he was the owner of Debraude Company.
But now it seemed he couldn't publicize it in the future, and even had to separate the dragon blood drink business from his other industries, so things that could damage his image wouldn't be exposed.
Quagmire didn't know what Chris was thinking. He cleared a space on the sofa, making room for someone to sit down.
"Chris, let's sit and talk."
He gestured for Chris to sit down, then Quagmire turned and walked toward the kitchen.
Soon, he came out with two teacups. He placed one in front of Chris and said with a smile, "Try it, this is Earl Grey I got from Britain."
Chris looked at the tea leaves floating in the teacup, picked it up, and took a big gulp.
He smacked his lips, but Chris didn't taste anything special.
But out of politeness, Chris still showed a satisfied expression, and after a moment, said, "Smooth and sweet, it's good tea!"
Seeing Chris's expression and evaluation, Quagmire showed an excited expression.
Did he know how disappointed he was when he let Peter and the others taste his precious good tea, only to receive terrible reviews?
And now, there was finally someone he didn't hate who could appreciate his collection. Quagmire was so excited that a tear even fell.
He reached out to wipe away the tear, suppressing the urge to get emotional, and said with an excited expression, "I have other good teas here. If you like it, you can always... I mean, we can find time to taste tea together."
Quagmire was about to say Chris could come to him anytime to talk about drinking and tasting tea, but he changed his tone and altered his original statement.
"Wow! This is really..."
Chris played along with Quagmire's words, responding with genuine emotional performance.
Although he wasn't interested in drinking tea, just for Quagmire's warm hospitality, Chris had to give enough appreciation.
After some small talk, Chris stopped Quagmire from continuing to refill his tea and got straight to the point, "Quagmire, we've had enough to drink, it's time to talk business."
"Oh?" Quagmire looked surprised. He only then remembered he didn't actually know why Chris had come to see him.
He awkwardly rubbed the back of his head and asked with a sheepish smile, "I forgot to ask, is there something you needed me for? I hope I haven't wasted your time?"
"How could that be? Being able to drink tea and chat with you, Quagmire, how can that be called wasting time?"
Chris shook his head, denying it, then explained his purpose, "It's like this—Joe's legs are broken again, and I feel like Peter caused it. But Joe doesn't want to say much, so I wanted to come and ask you."
"Well..."
Quagmire's face showed difficulty. As a ladies' man who could navigate relationships without getting caught up, Quagmire's intelligence and emotional intelligence were the highest among the guys.
So as soon as Chris said this, he immediately guessed Joe's thoughts and understood Joe's concerns.
Chris saw Quagmire's expression and immediately confirmed Joe's broken legs were related to Peter, and might even have been caused by Peter himself.
The thought of that idiot doing such a thing to a friend and getting away with it made Chris furious.
Because it was costing him a favor!
Joe and Quagmire were clearly not punishing Peter out of respect for Chris.
And judging by Lois's oblivious demeanor, Joe and Quagmire obviously hadn't told Lois about it either.
Chris absolutely could not tolerate such enabling of Peter's moronic behavior.
"Tell me, Quagmire. You and Peter are friends, but isn't Joe your friend too? Tell me the whole story, and I'll give you a proper resolution."
Looking at Chris's serious expression, Quagmire recalled Joe's painful appearance when his legs broke again, and Peter's careless attitude afterward. He, too, was seething with anger.
"All right, Chris. I'll tell you everything that happened."
Quagmire sighed and slowly said, "It all started when I rented a plane..."
