Chapter 8 - Dare To Attack An M3 Firewall?

In Mo Jingshen's room, Lu Wanli looked especially frail on the bed with her legs folded into her chest.

She was having a dream or rather a nightmare because a layer of sweat could be seen on her forehead.

The room's temperature was warm but if one looked closely, they would realize that her body was shivering slightly.

In her dreams, she found herself standing in that familiar laboratory.

"Wanli, can you see? Lili had the best treatment and Brother Yifan spent many nights by her bedside."

Lu Wanli shook her head, looking at the room that had several colorful teddies but surrounded by glass walls, it felt like a showroom or a cage.

This was where Han Yifan had kept her daughter?

Shen Xinxin moved closer to her and grabbed her elbow. "Wanli, I always reminded Lili how much you loved her, it's just that you loved the drugs more so you couldn't come to her right?"

Lu Wanli shook her head fiercely and the scene before her eyes changed into another one where she was standing in a high end office.

"Lu Wanli, I'm pregnant for him, why would I let him keep some sickly bastard?"

"Wanli, you understand right? I was just doing it for the both of you."

"Wanli, now that Lili is gone, you shouldn't mind me being with brother Yifan right?"

"Wanli, I'm sorry, I just wanted to know what made you love him so much… I didn't think that I would want him for myself."

"Wanli, it's not Xinxin's fault, I always admired her from when we were students. It's just that, back then, you chased me so desperately and I didn't want to hurt you."

"Wanli, why aren't you saying anything?"

"Wanli wait!"

"Wanli!!!"

When she heard the loud blaring sound of a truck, Lu Wanli's small figure on the bed shook and then she suddenly screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Ah!"

Her body suddenly felt weak and she fell to the bed breathless like she had just run a marathon.

It felt like she had been transported to that time again.

That same feeling of her entire world being pulled away from her hands.

Lu Wanli laid there for another two hours.

Although her soul had been reborn, she still carried the wounds from back then.

Eventually, she sat up and took a deep breath.

"Lili, although I can't bring you back, mommy would get you the justice that you deserve!"

After that dream, she was unable to sleep back again, she laid in bed and simply allowed several memories from the past to play through her mind.

She used to be very wild and reckless but after she started dating Han Yifan, she changed several things about herself just to please him.

Although not all of the changes were bad, after all, she had just enjoyed looking for trouble just to get her parent's attention.

But she didn't change for herself either.

She just kept making several sacrifices after the other.

Everything she built was under his name and she didn't mind because they were a couple.

Unfortunately, when she became an addict because of Shen Xinxin's schemes, Han Yifan hadn't tried to help her in any way at all.

Instead, he had found one excuse or the other to avoid her.

He also took Lili from her because of the addiction.

Desperate and alone, she registered herself into rehab but when she came back, she found out that her daughter was dead.

Tears rolled down the side of Lu Wanli's face and fell on the pillows.

Han Yifan. Shen Xinxin.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a loud bell sound from her phone.

Without thinking, she reached for the phone that was under her pillow.

Outside the room, Mo Jingshen had stepped out of the study to grab some water but his steps slowed down when he heard that familiar tune.

People who didn't know anything would regard it as a typical bell sound or ringing tone but if you knew where it was from, the chances of making a mistake was rare.

Mo Jingshen was certain that the tone belonged to notifications from the Sky Empire, an app that gave certain people access to an ecvlusive part of the dark web.

But why would Lu Wanli have that type of access?

Although he had many questions, he wasn't sure if he should directly ask her or find a way to fish for answers.

Inside the room, Lu Wanli looked at the message that she was tagged to.

[@dancingintheflames, do you dare to attack a M3 Firewall?]

It was a virtual mission and because she had done several hacking jobs in the past, she wasn't surprised that she was tagged to the job.

The job had just been released but many people already reacted to it.

Sky Empire was like a refined dark web. It gave access to the main dark web if someone wanted some information but it also allowed its users to not have to meet or interact with sleazy people on the dark web.

Here, it was for the highly skilled and even orders and customers had to pass some sort of test before they could get access.

Before now, most of her pocket money came from here.

Lu Wanli read through the details of the job.

The reward for this job was $50,000. However it came with the condition that anyone who took it had to be able to deliver and some other details were added to let the person know what was demanded of them.

In fact, Lu Wanli remembered this job. In her last life, she had taken the job because of the high reward and it was only after she was done that she realized the risk she had taken.

If her memory served her well, this particular job was done to attack Mo Shaoting.

Because of his high political position and potential, his security and personal information was backed using a type of system that wasn't designed in the country.

Back then, she had taken on the job and because of the contract, she had no choice but to complete it.

However, three days after that, she had heard the news of Mo Shaoting's assassination attempt and the breach of his personal security.

She closed her eyes for a second then declined the job.

Anyone that took this job would have to delete their profile because the Mo family came hunting very quickly.

Because of that, she lost connection to many of her friends that she made from here.

Later, she had been too afraid to join again so she left it alone and focused on running the game company with Han Yifan.

This time, she was not going to take on such a job.
