Chapter 25 - Conversation

"No problem. Under normal circumstances, it would take a long time for the orks to break through the Imperium's defenses."

Noah answered the question while secretly observing the Archmagos opposite him.

But when he was kidnapping people, he hadn't taken this Archmagos.

After all, according to Noah's thinking at the time, wasn't the Adeptus Mechanicus just a sect? There was also the Ecclesiarchy.

Why bother kidnapping the Adeptus Mechanicus? It would be better to just take the Ecclesiarchy.

That was Noah's thought at the time, so among all the high-ranking Imperial officials, this Archmagos escaped a calamity, but now he had brought Noah to him, inviting his own doom.

"Archmagos, why are you suddenly concerned about the orks?" After answering the other party's question, Noah in turn asked him a question.

This was not just asking a question; Noah also quickly walked a few steps forward, preparing to see what this mechanical, neither human nor ghost-like thing opposite him actually was.

When they met, Noah had naturally scanned him with a soul scanner.

He could confirm that the guy opposite him was human, but his bionic modifications were simply too ugly, and at the same time, the fleshy parts of his body were too few.

To put it bluntly, if you said he had achieved mechanical ascension, his mechanical ascension was not thorough, as he still had so much flesh and blood on his body and had not transferred his soul into machinery.

If you said he hadn't achieved mechanical ascension, you couldn't say that either.

After all, this guy had indeed equipped himself with all sorts of messy things, making him look like a monster.

So, such behavior naturally made Noah a little curious, and he took this opportunity to quietly approach the Archmagos in front of him.

He had been on this planet for a year, and during this year, Noah had not been idle. Although he hadn't figured out why this interstellar civilization, known as the Imperium of Man, was so slow in providing support, this was also good news.

It showed him a relatively quick path.

That was to directly replace all the real power figures on this planet, just like he dealt with that Inquisitor, and then bring this planet under his control.

This was a peculiar Imperium of Man.

Even their troop movements were so slow in the face of war, so if he replaced this governor, the Department of the Interior would probably take a long time to even notice, right?

Or perhaps, given their absurd efficiency, even if Noah served as governor here for 1,000 years, they might not be able to figure it out.

That was Noah's current thought, so his current approach to this Archmagos was partly out of curiosity.

And partly to understand him, then create a similar person to replace him.

As Noah stepped forward, the hem of his robe swept across the metallic floor inlaid with binary scriptures. His psionics tendrils quietly extended, like invisible probes, piercing into the Archmagos' semi-mechanized body.

"orks are enemies of the Emperor, and it is the duty of the Adeptus Mechanicus to study xenos technology." The Archmagos's synthesized mechanical voice carried an electronic hum.

A brief moment later, all his reactions disappeared. psionics began to invade his brain, and at the same time, the sentient ai of Noah's quantum computer also began to invade the entire machinery of the Archmagos.

The Archmagos initially tried to resist, but after a few seconds, he lost all resistance.

After dealing with this Archmagos, Noah took out a sentient ai archive from his pocket and injected it into the Archmagos' head.

The replacement was complete—

The esteemed Archmagos had, from this moment on, become Noah's subordinate.

Noah, still disguised as the Inquisitor, then walked out of the Archmagos' territory.

Alright, next, I'll go find the governor and ask him why the Imperial reinforcements haven't arrived yet.

If the Imperial reinforcements couldn't arrive soon, then he would have to replace this governor.

Although his lifespan was almost infinite, a full 100,000 years, giving him enough time to wait for technological development.

But Noah was also unwilling to waste his time; he had already waited for a year.

In one year, the people he had cultivated were already capable. As long as the governor was replaced, his administrative staff could take over the entire planet.

Directly acquiring a ready-made planet would surely be faster than developing it little by little, wouldn't it?

Noah stood before the gilded bronze gates of the Governor's Mansion, his Inquisitor's robe flapping in the cold wind.

The Gothic building's surface was adorned with countless statues of saints, but through his psionics vision, he could see surveillance cameras and automated turrets embedded within the walls.

"Your Excellency, Inquisitor." The captain of the Governor's Mansion guard knelt on one knee, the joints of his power armor creaking under the strain, "His Excellency the Governor is currently presiding over a military meeting, I'm afraid..."

"What, are you defying the Inquisition? Or do you think the Inquisition has no right to interrupt a governor who is in a meeting?"

"Or do you think the governor is doing something blasphemous, and he dares not see me?"

Living on this planet for a year had made Noah realize something.

That was, to flatter someone, especially when it concerned faith, using the identity of the Inquisition to flatter them, then anyone would back off.

"No, His Excellency the Governor is absolutely not such a person, Your Excellency Inquisitor, please enter—" The captain of the Governor's Mansion guard immediately stepped aside.

"Lead the way." Noah's voice was like an ice blade scraping metal.

After passing through three encrypted gates, Noah was led into a circular council chamber. governor Cass Wall was roaring at the officials and generals below him.

"When will the Departmento Munitorum's support arrive? We have waited for a year, why have no other Astra Militarum come to support us except for a few Krieg soldier Astra Militarum!

If this drags on, the entire star system will be overwhelmed by the orks!"

Facing the governor's roar, completely disregarding aristocratic etiquette, the general was forced to stand out and answer his superior's confusion.

"Four months ago, we received a reply from the Departmento Munitorum. The Departmento Munitorum has told us that they do not have more troops to deploy to our star system. The Chaos invasion in the Cadia Sector is more severe.

If it weren't for our representatives arguing strenuously there, plus our family having some connections in those places, and after spending some Imperial Aquila and a massive amount of resources, I'm afraid even the Krieg soldier here would have been transferred away."

How could the governor not know everything the general said?

He just wanted to vent his anger and anxiety.

The orks' growth had reached a point where they could no longer sustain it. Before long, these orks would engulf the entire planet like an ocean.

After submerging the planet, these orks would rush out of the planet, then reach space, and then directly take over the entire star system.

He knew all this, he knew it all.

He just... he just didn't want to give up. This was the world their family had guarded for generations.

Their family had sworn to protect this world of the Emperor when they first arrived on this planet, and now this world was about to be lost from his hands... The governor could no longer hold on this time. He knelt on the ground without any regard for his image, then prayed to the Emperor's holy effigy.

"Great God-Emperor, can you bless your people? Your people are suffering an invasion by beasts."
