Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: A Familiar Voice

Eve Sherman nodded, "Okay, President Sutton, I've got it."

Stellan Sutton sat in the back seat of the car, and Eve Sherman took out the hangover medicine she had prepared earlier from her bag. "I heard you drank a lot earlier. If you're not feeling well, why don't you take some hangover medicine first."

"No need."

Stellan Sutton turned his head to look at the neon outside the window, appearing somewhat cold and distant. Remembering how someone said he was in a bad mood earlier, Eve Sherman didn't say anything more and started the car.

"There's a charity banquet tomorrow night. You'll come with me."

Stellan Sutton suddenly spoke up during the drive.

"Got it."

Eve Sherman had attended a few small events with Phillip Langdon before, but Phillip would usually bring his wife along, and she was just doing miscellaneous tasks, assisting with exchanging business cards.

Could it be that she would finally meet the legendary wife tomorrow?

Although she wasn't one for gossip, the thought of it made her a little excited.

Forty minutes later, the car smoothly drove into Stellan Sutton's estate, where the butler hurried over and, noticing the smell of alcohol on Stellan Sutton, sighed softly, "Why did you drink so much!"

There were many servants here, leaving Eve Sherman with virtually nothing to do. She watched as the servants scrambled to help Stellan Sutton into the room before stepping away.

It was curious that President Sutton was drunk, yet his wife didn't come out to greet him.

It seemed like she wasn't living there.

Eve Sherman shook her head, feeling she was being overly gossipy, and quickly drove away.

The next day at the company, she scheduled a meeting with Stellan Sutton's exclusive lawyer as soon as she arrived. The lawyer arrived shortly, and Eve Sherman prepared tea before tactfully exiting the office.

Lucas was a bit perplexed and asked softly, "Why did President Sutton invite the lawyer?"

Eve Sherman shook her head, "I don't know, probably for company matters."

"Impossible, company matters are handled by the legal department. This is President Sutton's exclusive lawyer who only deals with his personal affairs, drafting private agreements and such..."

Eve Sherman didn't want to gossip about these things and pursed her lips in silence.

"President Sutton, please review the agreement contents, especially the property division section. Are you really going to give her millions worth of villas and emotional distress compensation?"

Stellan Sutton frowned, "Do you think it's too little?"

Lawyer Cole Grant chuckled awkwardly, "Of course not. You haven't seen her in the two years you've been married, nor had any marital relations. I'd say you're being exceedingly generous."

"Ending this relationship gracefully is all that matters. Money isn't the most important thing."

Stellan Sutton's gaze wandered over the draft divorce agreement. "Let's leave it like this for now. I'll contact her to see if she has any demands, then finalize it afterward."

"Alright."

Cole Grant packed up his laptop and stood up to leave.

Outside the office, he immediately took out his phone and sent out a message.

...

Near the end of the workday, Stellan Sutton asked Lucas to take Eve Sherman out to buy clothes for the evening. Lucas took Stellan Sutton's card with no reservations, pulled Eve Sherman into a luxury store, and went straight for the most expensive items.

Eve Sherman awkwardly declined, "I'm just tagging along; there's no need for something so expensive..."

"Who said that? You're President Sutton's secretary and female companion, representing President Sutton and Hess's image, so you must wear something expensive!"

Lucas picked out a heap for her to try on, and Eve Sherman frowned, puzzlingly asked, "I'm a female companion?"

"Yes." Lucas patted her shoulder, "Don't overthink it; being a female companion as an assistant is common. It's just part of your job."

Eve Sherman had many questions she wanted to ask, but respecting Stellan Sutton's privacy, she kept silent.

Lucas confidently used Stellan Sutton's corporate card without hesitation, and Eve Sherman watched from the side, her heart aching at the expense, even hesitating to cut the tags while dressing.

At seven o'clock, they officially set off.

Forty minutes later, they arrived at the charity banquet.

The huge venue was crowded, graceful and elegant music echoed in the hall, and there was a pleasant yet slightly intoxicating aroma of wine and perfume in the air.

Stellan Sutton wore his customary black tailored suit today, and due to his striking appearance combined with his recent prominence in Ardane, as soon as he appeared, many people approached him with champagne.

Eve Sherman followed closely behind Stellan Sutton, keeping a respectful distance, receiving champagne for him while efficiently accepting business cards offered by others and placing them in her handbag.

"Hello, President Sutton!"

As she accompanied Stellan Sutton weaving through the crowd, suddenly, a familiar voice rang out.

Eve Sherman tensed up.

Mrs. Shaw and Rory Shaw!
