Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Starting Today, You're Fired

Stellan's gaze fell on them, and when he saw Phillip Langdon holding her hand, a cold gleam flashed in his eyes.

Then, he leisurely stepped forward and stood in front of Phillip Langdon.

Lucas, beside him, introduced, "This is the general manager of Sterling, Mr. Phillip Langdon."

Stellan responded coldly with a "hmm," his gaze locked onto Phillip Langdon's face, "Does Mr. Langdon know my associate?"

"Her?" Phillip Langdon took the opportunity to affectionately stroke Eve Sherman's waist, smiling broadly, "President Sutton, she used to be my assistant. We are very familiar with each other! Moreover, her advantages, which are quite apparent, she's beautiful and capable..."

Phillip Langdon's words were quite suggestive; anyone would think along those lines.

Stellan gave Eve Sherman a glance, then looked at Phillip Langdon.

"Mr. Langdon, Assistant Sherman is now under my wing."

His expression was impassive, his gaze cold enough to make one suffocate.

Phillip Langdon, usually overbearing, was actually subdued by just one look from him.

Reluctantly, he lowered his head, awkwardly smiling, "Yes, yes, President Sutton, please, the conference room is upstairs?"

Eve Sherman retreated to stand behind Stellan, following them into the elevator.

After Sterling's bankruptcy, the president fell ill. Today, Phillip Langdon led a group of executives to negotiate with Stellan, hoping for leniency and to save Sterling.

Lucas noticed that Eve Sherman didn't seem well and asked with concern, "If you're not feeling well, would you like to rest first? Leave the rest to me."

"No problem."

Eve Sherman was indeed disgusted by Phillip Langdon earlier, but now, with Stellan around, she felt much more secure.

Stellan turned to glance at Eve Sherman.

She pressed her lips tightly together, her eyelashes lowered, silently taking deep breaths.

He had some insomnia last night, his mind echoing with calls of "darling" before he finally fell asleep after midnight.

The morning was consumed with meetings, not leaving him with much thought beforehand.

Only just now did he realize that Eve Sherman had been transferred over from Sterling.

Seeing her state, she must have suffered quite a bit.

The meeting was grand, with the large conference room filled with people. Eve Sherman and Lucas sat slightly behind Stellan, listening to the executives' statements and gauging Stellan's mood.

His face was calm, eyes indifferent, betraying no emotion.

"President Sutton, the factory has over a thousand workers, many depending on this job to support their families. We urge you to reconsider the decision to lay them off..."

Stellan looked down at the documents, asking blandly, "Does Mr. Langdon know the reason for Sterling's continual losses over the years?"

Phillip Langdon sighed heavily, "The cosmetics market is now saturated, with more and more low-cost competitors. Traditional companies like ours are marginalized and struggling to survive..."

"You know the problem but refuse to find a solution. After being acquired by Hess, you've still recorded losses for eleven months."

Stellan briskly closed the file, "I have already given Sterling a chance. Please cooperate with Hess and handle the aftermath properly."

"This, this..."

Cold sweat dripped from Phillip Langdon, the executives exchanged glances, unable to utter a word.

"By the way, I will arrange for headquarters to send someone over to follow up on this matter. Phillip Langdon, as of today, you are dismissed."

Phillip Langdon was dumbfounded, "What? Why? I am the general manager of Sterling! Without me, the subsequent operations of Sterling can't proceed!"

"Is that so?"

Stellan coolly pocketed his gold pen, "I don't think a general manager who only harasses female employees would negatively impact Sterling."
