Chapter 7 - Chapter 7: She Got Married, but Can't Even Find Her Husband

Eve Sherman awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth.

Indeed, it's been two years since the wedding, and they haven't even met, so it's normal for Skye Sherman to feel uneasy.

But, where could she contact that person?

She didn't even have any contact information! She once added a WeChat, and now she has no idea where it went.

"Recently, the Shaw Family... I mean, your parents, they haven't come to find you, right?"

Upon hearing this, Eve Sherman shook her head, "No, why would they look for me?"

Skye Sherman sighed in relief, "That's good, nothing major then."

It had been a while since she returned, so Skye Sherman bought lots of groceries. After chatting for a bit, he went to help in the kitchen, while Eve Sherman leaned against her grandmother's hospital bed, scrolling through her old WeChat contacts list on her phone.

Over a thousand contacts, and still no sign of that person even after the meal was ready.

In retrospect, it was almost laughable.

She was married and couldn't even find her husband.

...

The next day, Eve Sherman got up early.

Today, Stellan Sutton was going to Marinus next door to discuss a contract, and Lucas was going to Sterling to follow up on progress, leaving Eve Sherman temporarily in charge of Stellan Sutton's outing.

This was also her first time handling Stellan Sutton's outing by herself, as usually Lucas, the veteran, would be there to help.

Suddenly, she felt a much heavier burden on her shoulders.

However, just at crucial moments, her body would fail her. Before even leaving, she discovered her period had arrived three days early.

For years now, due to work pressure, she had developed severe menstrual cramps at some point.

Before heading out, she swallowed two painkillers before picking up Stellan Sutton and setting off for Marinus together.

When they arrived in Marinus, people were already there at the airport to greet them.

Stellan Sutton walked briskly, and Eve Sherman had to jog to keep up. After he greeted the others, she too shook hands with them deftly, and then followed Stellan Sutton into his private car.

The schedule was packed; after inspecting the factory with those in charge, Stellan Sutton rushed straight into a meeting, keeping Eve Sherman busier than ever, with no time even to drink water.

Wearing the standard work uniform today, her shoes were a bit higher than usual. Throughout the meeting, she stood just behind Stellan Sutton on his side; it felt like she was stepping on knives, the pain was excruciating.

The medication's effect wore off quickly, and an excruciating pain from her abdomen felt like an excavator churning inside, causing her to break into cold sweat all over.

She gritted her teeth and endured until the meeting ended, with the other party inviting Stellan Sutton for dinner that evening as a gesture of goodwill.

Typically, this sort of social engagement just goes through the motions, and Stellan Sutton readily accepted.

Eve Sherman entered the elevator to go downstairs and leaned against its side, panting quietly.

Stellan Sutton noticed something wasn't right and turned to her, "Are you unwell?"

Eve Sherman didn't want her period to interfere with her work, so she immediately straightened up and shook her head, saying, "I'm fine, President Sutton."

Stellan Sutton's eyes scanned her sweaty face, "You don't look fine to me."

Then he added, "The schedule here is quite tight, can you manage? If not, you can rest at the hotel, the main matters have been discussed anyway."

Eve Sherman shook her head, "I'll escort you to the hotel first."

She insisted, so Stellan Sutton didn't say any more. Once they got in the car, Eve Sherman sighed with relief, and while rummaging through her bag for more painkillers, someone touched her shoulder.

Turning her head, she saw Stellan Sutton holding out a dark gray thin blanket, "This might make you feel a bit better."

Eve Sherman didn't expect him to notice; she awkwardly accepted the blanket, "Thank you, President Sutton."

"Hmm," Stellan Sutton nodded and instructed the driver, "Set the air conditioning to 27 degrees."

It was very hot today, and even hotter in the car.

Eve Sherman knew that he was entirely considering her as his subordinate.

She felt nervous yet grateful in her heart.

The car drove steadily, Stellan Sutton looking down at his tablet, said in a deep voice, "Special Assistant Sherman, I'm planning to propose a one-day menstrual leave each month for female employees in the company, what do you think?"

Eve Sherman blinked in surprise, "Are you serious?"

"These are things that should be done, after all." Stellan Sutton said, looking up at her, "I see you all seem to be quite uncomfortable."

Eve Sherman wanted to say more, but Stellan Sutton had already instructed, "Arrange a meeting to discuss this matter when we get back."
