Chapter 4 - Anomaly

Drawing the other two's attention, the golden You Ling slowly extended her left hand.

Her fingers were slender and graceful, like the tender bloom of an orchid—elegant to the point of sanctity, reminiscent of the goddess's hand painted upon an ancient temple wall.

Her pale skin shimmered faintly with a golden radiance beneath the light, exuding a sacredness that forbade profane thought.

Even if the two smaller girls weren't hand fetishists, they still found it hard to look away.

Truly a Kira Yoshikage creation machine…

And just as the two were staring, entranced, tiny motes of light began to form above the golden girl's palm. At first, they were no more than drifting stardust—but in the blink of an eye, they ignited into flickering golden flames.

That wasn't the end of it. With a subtle flick of her finger, the flame twisted and reshaped itself into a golden eagle spreading its wings.

Every feather of that fire-born creature gleamed with definition, and when its beak opened slightly, a crisp, ethereal cry rang out.

The fiery eagle circled her three times before settling obediently upon her fingertip—then scattered into a shower of golden starlight.

"Holy crap! That was epic! Are you doing magic or something?!"

"That's impossible! It's not scientifically feasible!"

The red and blue girls exclaimed in perfect unison.

"This should be our so-called 'golden finger,' the power we inherited from the Three Egyptian Gods," said the golden You Ling evenly.

"If I'm right, each of you should possess a corresponding divine force within you.

Try using it to create some clothes—there may not be anyone else around, but it's still rather improper to stay naked."

"?!"

The air froze for a moment.

"Aaaah! Why are you just now bringing that up?!"

The two right away snapped out of their awe and realized their inappropriate situation again. The red You Ling, blushing furiously, flailed helplessly—unsure of what to cover first.

...

2000 Tears Later…

"Haa… haa… How… how is this possible?! It's not working!" The red-haired girl lay sprawled on the sand, limbs spread in defeat.

"I've chanted forty-eight different mantras! Heart Sutra, Tao Te Ching, even Eternal Blossom—Gokuraku Jōdo! Three times!"

She flipped over and slammed the ground. "Is this damn divine power deaf?!"

Beside her, the blue-haired girl sat hugging her knees, gazing at the sky and muttering under her breath.

"If divine power operates under quantum observation principles… perhaps there's a specific activation condition…"

Around her were dozens of complicated mathematical formulas, physics symbols, and enough equations to cure insomnia on sight.

[Hmm? That shouldn't be possible…]

Watching the two struggle, the golden You Ling was genuinely puzzled.

She could clearly feel the power surging inside them—the storming wrath of thunder, the raging force of destruction—energies that coursed through their blood like caged beasts seen through frosted glass: mighty, but untamed.

[Could there have been an error during the soul's division? If so, that could be troublesome.]

Recalling how long it had taken the two to regain consciousness, she couldn't help but suspect the worst.

Still, her face betrayed no emotion. Hypotheses were only hypotheses. For now, she would test whether external intervention could help them awaken their divine powers.

Channeling her own energy, the golden You Ling walked forward and placed her cool palms upon their foreheads.

Golden light seeped into them like flowing water. In an instant, three divine auras intertwined, forming the ethereal outlines of ancient gods in the air.

"Wait, this feeling—could it be—"

"It's coming! It's coming!"

Before the words were finished—

Scarlet lightning and azure gales exploded at once!

A shockwave tore through the sand, sending both girls flying like cut kites, leaving only the golden You Ling standing calmly at the heart of the tempest.

She brushed her windswept hair aside and gazed at the charred earth thoughtfully.

"Their souls are fine. It's their control that's practically nonexistent."

During the brief connection, she had clearly sensed that their souls were stable and aligned—there was no discord or damage. Their inability to wield power was purely a matter of mastery.

If the two of them weren't the problem… then that meant—

...

The two had been blasted far away, and it took some time for the golden You Ling to retrieve their soot-covered forms.

After confirming that neither was seriously hurt, she dusted them off, and a layer of golden flame rose around them. In an instant, the two were clothed in matching white dresses.

Seeing that they wouldn't wake up for a while, she laid them side by side and sat beside them with her knees drawn up, keeping watch to ensure no wild creature tried to drag them off.

The golden-haired girl sat silently, crimson eyes gazing toward the distant blue sea, lost once more in thought.

[Compared to them, I can handle my divine energy effortlessly… but emotionally, I'm clearly lacking.]

Having the other two as points of comparison made it obvious—she was the one who was "off."

[Why do I remember the moment of the soul's division? Why did I awaken first? Why can I control my power so easily? Why… am I missing emotion?]

[Gold↑ You Ling↓]

Shaking her head to clear the strange thoughts that followed, she ignited a soft golden flame in her palm again.

Cradling it gently, she closed her eyes and began a deep dive inward—down the path of that divine fire toward the very depths of her soul.

Time trickled by, each second stretching endlessly. The process was longer and harder than she expected; even for her, it was a grueling journey.

A butterfly of flame fluttered its wings, pushing upstream through a dark river, tracing it to its source…

...

No one knew how much time had passed before her crimson eyes slowly opened again.

The fierce flame in her palm had softened, its violence transmuted into gentle light that slipped through her fingers like water.

[Light—pure light… The Holactie the Creator of Light. So that's the reason.]

The Holactie the Creator of Light—the highest-ranked deity in Yu-Gi-Oh! lore, one who transcended the rules of the game itself and guaranteed instant victory.

In ancient Egyptian myth, Holactie the Creator of Light represented the union of the morning, noon, and evening suns—a supreme form of Ra.

[So this body's true essence… is the divine nature of creation itself. I wield the lesser power of the Sun God, but my soul holds the authority of the Creator. No wonder it feels effortless.]

Like the KGB tapping MI6—child's play…

[And my emotional numbness—so it's the consequence of divinity suppressing humanity.]

If she hadn't seen her own human soul still anchoring her within that divine light, she might have suspected she'd been overtaken entirely by the god itself.

In the anime, Holactie the Creator of Light embodied light and life, yet her essence was beyond good or evil—pure illumination, unmoved by mortal sentiment. The sun, after all, does not rise in the west simply because humans wish it to.

That neutrality now reflected in You Ling's being: the greater her godhood, the dimmer her humanity.

Call it arrogance, or call it detachment—either way, she often found herself viewing things from above, through the lens of reason rather than emotion.

Logically, it wasn't a flaw. To remain calm and objective, unshaken by feeling, was something many people spent their whole lives striving for.

But she didn't like it.

The human part of her soul whispered that much clearly.

Having identified the cause of her "anomaly," she felt a faint, if weary, relief. There was no solution yet—but at least she knew the truth.

[Though Takahashi-sensei once said Holactie the Creator of Light also symbolizes the light of life and motherhood…]

The golden You Ling lowered her gaze to the two small figures sleeping side by side beside her.

[Let's hope that's not foreshadowing…]

Now that she understood the root of her abnormality, she turned her thoughts once more to the memories before her transmigration.

The Egyptian Gods had appeared. The Creator God as well.

What came next would surely be—
