Chapter 7 - Dinner

"Since we've circled the island so quickly and ended up back here, this must be a rather small island."

Ra shifted her gaze back toward the distant ocean as she spoke.

"And it seems to be completely uninhabited. We didn't see a single sign of human activity along the shore," Obelisk added.

"The weird part is that the animals on the island seem to be avoiding us. We saw footprints along the way, but not a single living creature—just a few crabs on the beach. Creepy."

Osiris joined in. "Anyway, my stomach's starting to growl. What about you, Ra-jie?"

"No. I don't feel hungry at all."

"Eh? But you've been awake the entire time and walked farther than we did. You should've burned more energy than us—how can you not be hungry?"

When it came to food, Osiris's mind worked faster than ever.

"This body is sustained by divine power. Theoretically, I shouldn't feel hunger at all, nor need to eat. The same applies to you two—you just haven't mastered it yet."

"Then why am I hungry?" Osiris pouted.

"Because you're greedy, obviously~" Obelisk muttered, clearly irritated.

"How dare you talk to your elder like that! No manners whatsoever, you brat!" Osiris right away picked up her ceremonial weapon—her mouth.

"You—!"

"The divine power in my body flows like blood," Ra interrupted before they could start again, "it circulates throughout every part of me, forming a complete system.

"But the power within your bodies is still dormant—static. That's why you need to draw energy from the outside world. Once you learn to control that inner flow, you won't need to eat anymore."

"I see. No wonder you always look so calm and radiant, Big Sister."

Obelisk nodded. She appreciated explanations that made sense logically.

"So what now? The more we talk, the hungrier I get. I could kill for some grilled chicken wings~ Should've never played Yu-Gi-Oh!"

The signs of Osiris's inner couch potato began to show. "C'mon, Ra-jie! Use your almighty power as the Sun God and help meee!"

"Don't bother Big Sister," Obelisk sighed. "We haven't seen a single feathered creature on this whole island. Where do you think she's going to find chicken wings? We could at least check the beach for more crabs."

Still, her stomach gave a quiet rumble—so she wasn't exactly against the idea of food either.

Ra thought for a moment, then said, "I'll go into the forest and look for wild fruits or edible plants. You two stay here and wait."

"Let me come with you, Big Sister. The forest might be dangerous," Obelisk offered.

"There's no need. I happen to have a theory I want to test.

"You two behave and stay put. If I'm right, I might bring back a little surprise."

With that, Ra refused Obelisk's company and began walking toward the woods on her small, steady steps.

After a few paces, she paused, turned, and added, "Don't wander off—and no fighting."

"Okay~!"

Satisfied by their obedient nods, Ra turned back and disappeared among the trees.

Half an hour later, near the center of the forest, Ra indeed found what she was looking for—a large gathering of animals huddled together beneath a massive tree.

*[There are both carnivores and herbivores here, yet they're all gathered in one place…

So that's it. They're hiding—from Osiris and Obelisk. Their predatory instincts have been overwhelmed by pure survival instinct.]*

Her deduction was spot on. Neither Osiris nor Obelisk could yet control their divine aura.

Even though they couldn't consciously use their power, the pressure of their presence—the might of the Egyptian God Cards—was flooding outward uncontrollably, terrifying every creature on the island into hiding together for safety.

That also explained why, when the three of them first arrived unconscious, they hadn't been attacked.

Not that it would've mattered—Ra had already tested this body's physical durability. Even without using divine power, her body alone was terrifyingly strong; no beast could have pierced her skin.

The animals barely reacted to Ra's approach. To them, she wasn't one of the three terrors that had fallen from the sky. They simply assumed she was another creature seeking refuge.

Moreover, Ra naturally suppressed her aura when she awoke—and though she didn't yet realize it, she carried an aura that radiated goodwill toward all living things.

A panda-like creature even shuffled aside to make room for her.

Unfortunately for them, Ra wasn't in the mood to make friends.

Her golden eyes swept over the gathered beasts—tigers, deer, wolves, goats—before settling on a target.

Extending one finger, she summoned two faint, flame-like wisps. The golden fire drifted toward a pair of chicken-like birds, at once burning away their feathers.

Once the plucking was complete, the fire thickened and expanded, enveloping the birds completely. Within moments, their skin turned a perfect golden brown, while their insides were reduced to ash.

Ra's control over flame was improving rapidly—she could now precisely modulate temperature even within a small fireball.

Under the trembling gazes of the rest of the animals, Ra calmly walked up and picked up the two freshly roasted birds.

"The wings are a bit small… probably from lack of flight since there's no wind here. Hopefully Osiris won't complain."

Leaving the terrified creatures behind, Ra gathered some wild fruits as well—each one personally tasted and selected for flavor.

As for whether they were poisonous… she didn't bother checking. At this point, any natural toxin would probably serve only as a mild seasoning for them.

Finally, she plucked two giant leaves and crafted a pair of bamboo-like flasks filled with mountain spring water. With her skirt now full of food, she headed back toward the shore.

"Waaah~ amazing, Ra-jie! You actually found food! And roasted chicken too! Yay!"

Back at the beach, Osiris—who had been lying in the sand groaning dramatically—sprang up like an excited kitten at the sight.

Ra crouched down and began setting everything neatly onto the broad leaves.

"Osiris, sit down and eat slowly—don't gulp it all down.

"There's water in the bamboo flasks; drink if you start choking.

"The fruits on your left are sweet, and the ones on the right are sour—don't mix them up.

"And the second bird's for Obelisk, so don't eat both… Obelisk, you come sit too."

"Got it," Obelisk said, sitting down beside her.

But instead of eating, she tore off a drumstick and handed it to Ra.

"Big Sister, you should eat too."

"Oh, right! Ra-jie, come on, eat with us!" Osiris quickly followed, tearing off a wing to offer her as well.

Ra had been about to decline, but seeing the expectant look in both their eyes, she smiled softly and accepted the food.

And so, the three of them sat together, side by side, sharing the first meal of their new world.
