"Omega Cannon!"
Catching a brief opening as he dodged, Omnimon fired an Omega Cannon that slammed into Moon=Millenniummon's body—but the blast was blocked almost at once. A huge claw shot in from the side and seized Omnimon in its grip.
Tai immediately moved to rescue him, but Moon=Millenniummon's other three claws came slashing toward him. He was forced to brake hard and fall back; if he charged in now, he'd only get himself caught along with Omnimon.
Omnimon hacked away at the claw holding him with the Omega Blade over and over, but there was no room to swing in such a cramped space. He could only carve shallow wounds into Moon=Millenniummon's chrome digizoid talons, his efforts basically wasted.
While Tai was being pinned down by the three attacking claws, the Infinite Cannons on Moon=Millenniummon's back swung toward Omnimon and began to charge, clearly preparing to finish him in one blow.
"Super Infinite Cannon!"
An unimaginably thick hyper–mega energy beam roared straight toward the immobilized Omnimon. Judging from the sheer power gathered at the muzzles, Moon=Millenniummon was willing to sacrifice one of its claws if it meant taking Omnimon down with that shot. Just as the beam was about to hit—
"Shining V-Force!"
A V-shaped wave of light slammed into the incoming beam and erased it on contact. Moon=Millenniummon froze, momentarily stunned.
"Dimension Scissor!"
A massive silhouette shot past, sweeping across one of Moon=Millenniummon's claws. Moon=Millenniummon howled in pain—the newcomer had sliced straight through its chrome digizoid limb, neatly cutting the claw right off. Omnimon took the chance to wrench himself free.
Tai focused on the two Digimon that had just arrived. One was wrapped in a suit of blue digizoid armor, a pair of enormous wings spread from its back. The other was covered head to toe in black chitin, huge claws gleaming with a razor edge, with four great wings unfurled behind it.
"And you are…?" Omnimon asked curiously.
"I am UlforceVeedramon."
"And I am GrandisKuwagamon."
UlforceVeedramon is a legendary Holy Knight–type, Vaccine-attribute Mega Digimon, said to have inherited the "power of the future," passed down from the ancient Digital World and appearing only in a certain "prophecy" that speaks of the guardians of the Network World—the Royal Knights. According to that prophecy, these Digimon known as "Royal Knights" will gather when the Digital World faces its greatest crisis. Even among the Royal Knights, UlforceVeedramon possesses godlike speed; there's said to be no one who can keep up with its movements. Its body is clad in "Blue Digizoid," an extremely rare form of Digizoid related to time itself, forged into a holy armor that can split the sky and sunder the earth. From the V-Bracelets on both wrists it can deploy weapons and shields at will. Its signature attack is the beam fired from the V-shaped crest on its chest, Shining V-Force.
Shining V-Force (閃光V能力 / Shining V-Force) – A V-shaped blast of light fired from the chest armor.
Ulforce Saber (究極力之劍 / Ulforce Saber) – A sword of pure Ulforce energy drawn from the V-Bracelets.
Tensegrity Shield (張拉整體盾 / Tensegrity Shield) – A deployed barrier-shield that redistributes force throughout its structure.
GrandisKuwagamon is a Mega-level, Insectoid, Virus-attribute Digimon. Its existence is shrouded in mist; it's an extremely rare species said to be a powerful evolution of certain GranKuwagamon individuals. Another theory claims it evolved from the Ultimate-level Digimon Okuwamon, whose hardened shell it resembles. It's said the "Grandis Scissors" on its arms can crush any armor or metal, biting down until they pierce right through the enemy.
Special techniques:
Dimension Scissor Arm (次元剪刀臂 / Dimension Scissor) – Attacks with its twin "Grandis Scissors," cutting not only the enemy, but the surrounding space itself.
Grandis Scissor (格藍迪剪刀 / Grandis Scissor) – Uses the massive pincers on its head to clamp down and slice the enemy apart.
Gran Killer (究極殺手 / Gran Killer) – Rips enemies open with the bladed claws on its forearms.
"Moon=Millenniummon, prepare yourself. It's time you went back to the darkness where you belong," UlforceVeedramon declared. He stretched out his right arm and a sharp, gleaming sword sprang from the V-Bracelet on his wrist. Then he charged straight at Moon=Millenniummon, GrandisKuwagamon surging forward right behind him, unwilling to be left out.
Omnimon and Tai exchanged a look, then nodded. Together, they rushed in after UlforceVeedramon and GrandisKuwagamon, all four converging on Moon=Millenniummon.
Moon=Millenniummon roared, unleashing everything it had—Infinite Cannons and its remaining three claws all attacking at once.
GrandisKuwagamon's huge spikes slashed right through a hyper–mega energy wave coming at him.
"Gran Killer!"
He caught one of the incoming claws with his massive arm-spikes and locked it in place.
"Ulforce Saber!"
UlforceVeedramon's sword flashed, neatly slicing another claw in half.
Omnimon twisted his body to evade one lunging claw, braced the Omega Blade against it—and fired an Omega Cannon at point-blank range from the Omega Cannon on his left arm.
The resulting explosion swallowed Omnimon in fire and smoke, but he soon burst out of the blast, the shockwave sweeping the smoke aside. The chrome digizoid claw that had grabbed him was now blown clean off.
On Tai's side, the Genesis Blade stabbed into the center of another claw. The Digicode on the blade flared with light, and with a hard shove, Tai sliced that claw neatly down the middle.
Tai, Omnimon, GrandisKuwagamon, and UlforceVeedramon took up positions at four points around Moon=Millenniummon, enclosing it in a tight ring. Moon=Millenniummon stared at the four of them, hissing and growling nonstop.
"Infinity Cape!"
"Infinite Cannon!"
"Exploding Missiles!"
The Infinite Cannons on Moon=Millenniummon's back went berserk, spewing out beams and projectiles of every color. Energy blasts swept wildly in all directions as it unleashed every kind of shot it had at maximum rate. Tai and the three Digimon darted through the air at top speed, weaving around the torrents of fire. Moon=Millenniummon showed no sign of stopping—it kept firing without regard for the strain on the cannons, pushing them far past their limits.
The fire rate of the Infinite Cannons had already surpassed twenty shots per second per barrel. Tai could clearly see the cannons on Moon=Millenniummon's back glowing red-hot, the air around them warping from the heat, but Moon=Millenniummon didn't care at all. It just kept firing like a mad beast.
Everyone knew this barrage was little more than its death throes. Once the Infinite Cannons reached the point where they couldn't fire anymore, that would be the moment to counterattack.
Right then, the not-so-fast GrandisKuwagamon was struck by one of the blasts. His rhythm faltered, and several more shots were about to slam into him—
"Tensegrity Shield!"
The V-Bracelet on UlforceVeedramon's left wrist unfolded into a massive shield, interposing itself in front of GrandisKuwagamon and blocking the incoming shells.
High above, Tai shot straight upward, several energy blasts chasing along his path. Then he suddenly dropped, boots scraping the ground and throwing up a cloud of dust where he skidded to a halt.
"World-Annihilating Slash!"
With a sweeping arc over his head, Tai brought the Genesis Blade down in a devastating strike. A titanic blade of annihilating light roared toward Moon=Millenniummon's chest and carved open a huge gash. Moon=Millenniummon screamed in pain. The Infinite Cannons on its back, which had been firing nonstop a moment ago, finally skipped a beat. Seizing the opportunity, Omnimon and the others launched their own attacks.
"Shining V-Force!"
A beam of light lanced out from the V-shaped crest on UlforceVeedramon's chest, slamming into Moon=Millenniummon.
"Dimension Scissor!"
"Omega Cannon!"
"World-Annihilating Slash!"
Tai and the three Mega Digimon all unleashed their strongest attacks at once, targeting the greatest threat: the Infinite Cannons mounted on Moon=Millenniummon's back.
The barrage smashed home with a series of deafening explosions. With no way to evade, all four cannons were hit squarely. When the flames cleared, the Infinite Cannons were nothing but mangled wreckage, completely incapable of firing again.
"Haa… haa…" Moon=Millenniummon panted, its gaze darting around in panic as if searching for some new way out.
Then a sharp, shrill cry rang out, forcing Tai and the others to clap their hands over their ears.
At that exact moment, the top of Moon=Millenniummon's head suddenly opened. A small, two-headed Digimon burst out of it and shot away, slipping out of the encirclement before anyone could react.
"Death Crystal!"
Red light flared in Moon=Millenniummon's eyes and shot straight into UlforceVeedramon's chest. UlforceVeedramon froze for a heartbeat, then his eyes began to glow a menacing crimson.
Taking advantage of the confusion, Moon=Millenniummon's main body raced toward the horizon, trying to escape.
"Rrrgh!"
UlforceVeedramon suddenly swung his sword at GrandisKuwagamon beside him. GrandisKuwagamon, startled, hurriedly crossed his massive arm-spikes to block the blow, but the impact still sent him crashing into the ground, gouging out a huge crater and kicking up a cloud of dust.
"UlforceVeedramon, what's wrong with you?! He's an ally, not an enemy!" Ryo shouted from the sidelines. He didn't understand why his partner was attacking their comrade, but he knew it had to be connected to that red light from earlier.
"Damn it, I won't let you get away. Omnimon, destroy Moon=Millenniummon's empty shell. I'll go after the real body," Tai said, then shot off in pursuit of the fleeing Moon=Millenniummon.
Hearing the human voice, UlforceVeedramon, eyes glowing red, turned his head toward where Ryo stood.
"Look out!"
Omnimon leapt up again, catching UlforceVeedramon's sword between GrandisKuwagamon's huge arm-spikes once more. "Get out of here, now!" he shouted to the two boys.
Meanwhile, Tai had already pushed his thrusters to maximum output. Before long, he could see Moon=Millenniummon's small figure ahead of him.
"You're not getting away."
As he spoke, a blade of light extended from the Genesis Blade in his hand, slicing cleanly across the point where Moon=Millenniummon's two heads joined together.
Moon=Millenniummon let out a shriek and traced a parabolic arc as it tumbled toward the ground.
Tai hovered above it, lifting the Genesis Blade high. The Digicode carved into the blade flared as he poured his power into it.
"Ultimate Slash!"
A column of light like a blade from heaven came down, striking Moon=Millenniummon squarely at the crown of its head.
There was a sharp, glasslike crack. Moon=Millenniummon's body crumbled like sand, scattering on the wind.
Tai exhaled in relief and turned to leave—
A streak of red light shot toward him. He twisted aside in a hurry, but it still grazed his left shoulder. Tai clutched the wounded shoulder and looked back, only to see Moon=Millenniummon, who should have been dead, standing there once again in its original spot.
