Chapter 12 - Pretending to be a charlatan

However, the shore defense cannons deployed along the coastline had all been destroyed by the wind, not a single one left. This undoubtedly proved one thing: Dragon's control over his power had reached a terrifying degree. Even revealing just the tip of the iceberg made Luo Yan feel fear.

Before long, the gale subsided, and the heavy rain began to fall again. Luffy and his crew, however, had already set sail, taking advantage of the wind.

Smoker watched the Going Merry's receding back, his expression constantly changing. Suddenly, he thought of something, and his face immediately changed drastically. At this moment, Dragon's slightly arrogant voice rang out from the rooftop beside him:

"Hahaha! Go! If that's how you do things!"

"Why? Why help that man?"

Smoker questioned loudly, but Dragon maintained his smile, his gaze fixed on the Going Merry: "What reason is there to stop a man from setting sail?"

"Prepare the ships! I'm going to pursue Straw Hat Luffy!"

Smoker made his decision with almost no hesitation. Although the surrounding Marines were astonished, they couldn't stop him.

Dragon listened quietly, with no intention of stopping Smoker. He had only come to see Luffy off; preventing the Marines from capturing pirates was not something the Revolutionary Army should do.

"Heh!"

Dragon chuckled softly, withdrew his gaze, and prepared to turn and leave. At this moment, a wisp of wind bypassed the cover of his cloak and blew past his temple, while a voice sounded in his ear: "I wonder if you have time for a few words?"

Dragon paused, then turned his gaze. He saw a young man, seemingly only seventeen or eighteen, with light blue, slightly curly hair, floating not far from him.

"Interesting. Then follow me."

Dragon agreed almost without thinking, because he was certain that there was no combat power in the entire Loguetown that could threaten him. The chance of it being a trap was almost zero.

Dragon flickered a few times, leaving the rooftop and entering a secluded alley. Luo Yan quickly followed; this was a patron he valued, and he absolutely couldn't let him get away.

After several turns in the alley, Dragon flashed into an uninhabited small house. Inside, there were only a few simple tables and chairs, nothing else. Due to the gloomy weather, the light inside the house was very poor. Upon entering, Luo Yan just happened to see Dragon lift his hood, revealing his tattooed face.

"You're looking for me?"

Dragon didn't put on airs, his tone was amiable, but his entire being exuded an indescribable sense of majesty. Luo Yan felt quite nervous inside, but he appeared very calm, smiling as he bowed slightly to Dragon.

"Nice to meet you. My name is Luo Yan. I've come to you for two reasons. First, I want to witness the style of the starting point of an era's change. Second, I want to express goodwill to the Revolutionary Army."

"Oh? The starting point of an era's change? Do you mean that the Revolutionary Army's actions will cause an era to change?"

Luo Yan's words stirred Dragon's heart, but due to Luo Yan's age, that ripple quickly subsided and did not affect Dragon's speaking emotions.

Luo Yan shook his head, then gave a wry smile: "My divination and prophecy can only see the starting point in you; I can't see more. Perhaps it's because the difference in our strength is too great, because compared to you, I saw more from that Marine named Smoker."

"Prophecy?"

Dragon accurately grasped the keyword, and his eyes narrowed slightly. This was exactly what Luo Yan had hoped to see. The bitterness in his smile completely faded, leaving only pure amusement.

"Yes, prophecy. It's one of my abilities."

"An interesting ability. Then, I wonder if you could do a prophecy for me?"

Dragon's tone carried obvious suspicion and testing. The word "prophecy" was simply too charlatan-like; even ordinary people would be suspicious, let alone the leader of the Revolutionary Army.

Luo Yan seemed to have anticipated this, and he nodded with a smile: "Of course, no problem. So, who is the subject of the prophecy?"

"The world!"

Dragon uttered these two words with almost no hesitation. Luo Yan was clearly stunned; even he was surprised by this answer. However, he didn't remain dazed for too long, quickly recovering and nodding decisively.

"No problem, that's not a difficult subject."

After speaking, Luo Yan lowered his head slightly and slowly closed his eyes. Dragon didn't urge him, casually pulling over a chair and sitting down.

After about two minutes, Luo Yan opened his eyes. Immediately, two streams of crimson blood flowed from his eye sockets, like tears, sliding down his cheeks and dripping onto the ground from his chin.

"I saw it."

Initially, Dragon was skeptical of Luo Yan's prophecy, but after seeing the two streams of blood, he felt that this young man in front of him seemed to have something special.

Of course, Luo Yan didn't have any actual prophecy; his "prophecy" was actually just the original plot. He had thought about it long ago: with his current strength and age, trying to gain anything from the Revolutionary Army would definitely not be easy. The most feasible method was to pretend to be a charlatan. For him, who knew the original plot, "prophecy" naturally became an excellent way to play the charlatan.

As for the bleeding eyes, that was too simple. He relied on his water control ability to increase the blood flow to the mucous membranes of his eyes, bursting the capillaries there. This wasn't very difficult, just required extreme caution; if the force wasn't controlled well, it could injure his eyes. And his earlier pose of making a prophecy prevented Dragon from disturbing him, which created an environment where he could operate carefully.

"What did you see?"

Dragon asked. Luo Yan didn't answer immediately. Instead, he aimed his right palm at the window, then sharply flexed his fingers and grabbed. The tightly closed window was suddenly pushed open by the wind. Rainwater automatically gathered and surged into Luo Yan's palm, forming a water ball. When the water ball expanded to the size of a basketball, the rainwater stopped gathering, and the window was blown shut by a gust of wind, as if it had never been opened.

Luo Yan buried his face in the water ball. The pure water ball immediately turned red. When Luo Yan took his face out, all the bloodstains were gone, and there was no water residue left on his face.

"Excuse me, I'm not very used to talking to people with a bloody face."

Luo Yan casually threw the water ball to the ground. Dragon nodded, saying nothing, but the look in his eyes towards Luo Yan had an added, distinct sparkle.

Without Dragon repeating his question, Luo Yan proactively answered: "The tide of the era rolls forward, and even you cannot stop it."

"What do you mean?"

"It means that even if you disband the Revolutionary Army now, the tide of the era will not cease because of it, because you just personally let go of the last reins."

"Luffy?"

Dragon almost immediately came up with the answer. Luo Yan nodded in confirmation.

"That's right. In the near future, Luffy will become one of those who lead the tide forward, but it's very strange."
