Normally, Haley's favorite time of day was morning. She had always loved just being able to watch the new day come alive. But ever since leaving Deacon behind, Haley was struggling to find the joy in the early hours of the day. In all hours of the day, really.
There was not much happiness to be found when time just meant more hours spent without her Deacon.
But that morning, Haley found that she was more stressed than usual. The night before she had gotten a text that had bothered her so much, she had barely slept a wink. Of all things, she had not expected Paul Parker to reach out to her, given what she had done.
She had fully expected that just like Deacon, Paul would choose to act as though she no longer existed in the world.
But much to her surprise, Deacon's best friend had actually reached out.
