Sometimes the only way to get to the truth was to tell bold faced lies.
Paul Parker had done just that in order to get his friend to drink with him. He had pretended as though he had actually given thought to going out and getting drunk as opposed to staying indoors and drinking, which had been a lie.
If there was one thing that Paul knew about his friend, it was Deacon's ability to bottle everything in. In order to get his friend to open up a bit and release some of that pain. Him getting drunk in a place full of other people was not likely to achieve that result, so Paul had lied, by making it seem as though going out had even been an option, then once he'd been let in, the fashion designer had told yet another lie.
