Ghosted??
Maddie's P.O.V.
I spent the whole weekend replaying over and over the kiss in my head. I could still not believe that I just kissed THE Ethan Walker.
We did not talk about it after dinner and I am currently laying on my bed waiting to see if he will text me or call me to talk about what happened. I am nervous but excited as well. He never said that he will call me or text me, but I just assumed he will.
Even Mom and Dad were surprised to see me just laying down on my bed the whole day.
"Sweetheart, are you feeling sick?" Mom asked, cracking the door open.
"No, Mom. I am feeling good. Why?" I replied sitting up.
"You have been in your bed since yesterday and it's just weird because normally you are locked up here in your room studying so I wanted to check up on you." mom explained.
"I am perfectly fine, Mom. Just wanted to take a weekend off from studying besides I already finished all my assignments.'' I told mom assuring her.
"Well, that is good that you are giving your brain some rest time as well. Your Dad and I are going to the grocery store. Do you need anything?" Mom said.
"Nope. I am good. Have fun, Mom." I replied.
Five minutes later, I heard the car leave. I went back to replaying the scene in my head for the thousandth time since Friday night. I still have that knot feeling in my stomach every time I replay the kiss in my head. It feels as if it is real. I was so caught up in my fantasy when my phone rang. I grabbed my phone to check maybe Ethan is calling me. I was disappointed when I saw the caller I.D. It was Chloe.
Chloe: Please tell me you were not studying.
Me: Hello to you too. (small laugh at the end)
Chloe: I am holding a party next Friday at my house. I am telling you this now so that you have enough time to do all the studying you will need to do over the next weekend. Are we clear?
Me: (laughing at Chloe) You sound like Principal Hudson.
Chloe: EEWWWW! I do not!
Me: (laughing at Chloe)
Chloe: Before I forget, don't worry about what you are going to wear because you will get ready at my house. All you need to do is bring yourself.
Me:Yes, Ma'am.
Chloe: I can't wait for Friday. It has been ages since we last went to a party together. Anyway, I gotta go. I need to go shopping for the party. See yah tomorrow.
Me: Have fun shopping. Take care. Love yah.
I made myself a snack and head to the kitchen. I got too lazy to make something, so I just took a bag of Nachos and went to the living room to watch Netflix. I was watching the Final Episode of Season 4 of Lucifer. My emotion was on a roller coaster ride and the ending made me want to cry. Chloe finally admitted that she loves Lucifer and kissed him. She even begged him not to leave, but Lucifer still left. My heart was crying. It took me sometime to recover from that scene.
I was still laying on the sofa when Dad and Mom arrived. I got up to help them bring the bags inside.
"Did you buy the whole store, Dad?" I asked, teasing Dad.
When he goes grocery shopping, he comes home with the car full of grocery bags. It always amazes me and Mom how Dad never knows what to get when doing grocery.
"I was about to kiddo, but your Mom stopped me from doing so." Dad replied laughing.
We got inside and placed all the bags on the table. I helped Mom organize everything. After putting everything away, Mom started preparing for dinner. Mom is making chicken casserole. I made some brownies for dessert. Dad loves it when I make brownies. It's everyone's favorite and there wouldn't be any left over whenever I make brownies.
Dad came in the kitchen smelling the brownies from the oven.
"Are those brownies for me?" he asked.
"Your dad suddenly becomes like a dog whenever you make brownies" Mom told me.
I laughed at how my parents always tease each other. I got the tray of brownies out of the oven and placed it on the table for cooling. Dad is already sitting on his chair with a fork and a plate, ready to devour the brownies.
"Hands off, Dad. It is still hot, and this is for dessert." I told Dad, teasing him.
"Who said dessert has to be last?" Dad asked.
I just shook my head while laughing. Dad is impossible when it comes to brownies.
"Alan, leave those brownies alone." Mom said, swatting Dad's hands from the tray.
I prepared the table for dinner so that we can already eat. We talked about different things over dinner. During dessert, I asked Mom and Dad for permission to go to Chloe's party on Friday.
"Chloe is hosting a party on Friday and she invited me. Can I go?" I asked casually.
"Sure, sweetheart. You know the rules. Be home before 11 and lock the doors when you get home because I will do a double shift on the weekend." Mom said.
"Just stay safe. Have fun with no alcohol!" Dad said.
"When did I ever drink alcohol?" I replied laughing.
I have been to Chloe's party a lot of times and I have never tried nor tasted alcohol. Mom and Dad know that, and they trust me.
Dad helped me wash the dishes. We were casually talking about college and stuff when Dad asked me about Ethan.
"How are you and Ethan?" Dad asked.
"What do you mean, Dad?" I replied. I was actually confused with his question.
"I have not seen Ethan in the house after he came here the last time. Did you guys finish the project already?" he replied.
"Oh! We have been pretty busy with school and he was busy with basketball practice." I said. That is actually why we never got to work on our project again because of basketball practice.
"Do you still have a crush on him?" Dad asked.
"Dad!" I exclaimed.
"What? I will not stop you from having a crush on him if you do. After knowing that he is my friend's son, it is a great relief. I don't have to worry about you." he explained.
I was left speechless with what Dad just said. It is so very official that my Dad has gone crazy. I just ignored what Dad said and continued washing the dishes. Dad just laughed at my reaction and continued drying off the plates before putting them on the cupboard.
I checked my phone before going to bed. To say I was disappointed was a little bit of an understatement to what I was feeling. Ethan and I kissed, but he never texted me nor called me over the weekend. I was feeling that maybe he did not like it, or maybe he thought it was just a mistake. I slept with a sad feeling.
I woke up the next morning with a text from Chloe.
Sorry, Maddie. I won't be able to pick you up tomorrow morning. My car broke down earlier and is going to be in the car shop until Tuesday.
I sent her a text letting her know it's okay. I got out of bed and started preparing for today. I took a quick shower and got ready in no time. I grabbed my bag and my phone and headed downstairs. I saw Dad was about to leave the house, so I thought, why not hitch a ride with Dad?
"Dad, can I ride with you? Chloe's car broke down yesterday and is going to be in the car shop until Tuesday." I explained.
"Sure, kiddo. Let's go. I will drop you off at school." Dad replied, grabbing the keys from the table.
I grabbed some granola bars from the cabinet and my house keys on the way outside. I locked the door before getting in the car. I told Dad he can just drop me off at the bus stop, but he insisted on dropping me off at school.
We just arrived at the school when I saw Tyler's car pull up. I saw Chloe from the passenger seat. I said goodbye to Dad and went over to Chloe and Tyler.
"Hey Maddie. Wassup?" Tyler greeted.
"Hi Tyler." I replied.
I went over to Chloe and gave her a hug, greeting her good morning.
"I can't wait for Friday!!" Chloe said enthusiastically.
"I can see that, Chloe" I replied laughing.
We got inside the school. We were by the lockers when I saw Ethan. What I saw next broke my heart. I saw him walking with a girl with his arm linked with hers. Was this the reason he never called me or texted me over the weekend? I was so mad, and I felt like I had just been used. Brooke noticed I was staring at something and my face expression got her worried.
"Hey Maddie. Is everything alright? What is it?" she said, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I glanced at her and said, "Yeah. Everything is good. I thought I just saw something. Shall we go to the class?"
"Sure. Let's go. Bye Babe" Chloe said giving Tyler a kiss before walking towards our room.
Tyler and Chloe do not have any classes together, so they only meet during lunch time.
