Ten minutes later, the alcohol was working its magic.
Wine drunk was always a dangerous territory for me. It didn't make me sleepy; it made me loud, bold, and entirely filterless.
All the timid, anxious thoughts that usually kept me quiet in a corner vanished, replaced by a sudden, hot wave of reckless confidence.

"So," I purred, my voice dropping into a low, smooth register that sounded completely foreign to my own ears. "How did a handsome guy like you end up single?"
Leo blinked, taken aback by the sudden shift in my energy, but a slow, amused smile spread across his handsome face. "Just haven't found the right person, I guess. What about you?"
"Oh, me?" I giggled, waving a hand airily. "I met a guy recently. Total piece of shit. Arrogant, bossy, secretive, thinks he owns the entire world."
Leo's eyebrows lifted. "Sounds lovely."
