Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Basic Community Rules

[I. Basic Living Guidelines]

["The 'Community' is the daily living area for all players."]

["'Visa Time' is the only currency within the community."]

["Players can use 'Visa Time' to purchase necessary supplies for living within the community, including basic food ingredients, clothing, medicine, etc."]

["When a visa is issued, the community has performed a comprehensive calculation based on each player's situation, determining the initial 'Visa Time'."]

["Specific 'Visa Time' can be checked at any 'visa machine,' 'vending machine,' or 'personal computer'."]

["Players are prohibited from any direct or indirect trading of 'Visa Time' within the community, including using Visa Time to purchase goods and then giving those goods to others. Such transactions are also not allowed."]

["Completing judgment games in the 'Walkway' is the only way to earn 'Visa Time.' Refer to 'III. Walkway Judgment Guidelines' for details."]

[II. Community Activity Guidelines]

["All players within the community have equal status."]

["Any dangerous behavior outside the rules, including but not limited to murder, kidnapping, coercion, poisoning, etc., is strictly prohibited against other players."]

["Every community player has equal voting rights."]

["Any community player can propose a motion at the 'Community Management Office.' Once reviewed and approved, all community players can vote on it."]

["Once a majority of community players vote in favor, the motion will be established as a new community rule."]

[III. Walkway Judgment Guidelines]

["The 'Walkway' serves as a clearance and judgment institution in the New World."]

["The 'Walkway' can open at any time, either 'compulsorily' or 'voluntarily,' summoning players to complete judgment games."]

["Upon completing the game, players can earn the corresponding 'Visa Time' based on the game content."]

["Among all players, there hides a special category of dangerous individuals: 'God's Imitators.' They design games for the Walkway and complete judgments of players."]

["When a player dies in the Walkway, the designer of the corresponding game will receive all the remaining Visa Time of that player."]

["The game rules of the 'Walkway' will be updated in real-time on the homepage of the player's personal computer website."]

["These are the basic rules of the New World, with more hidden rules waiting for players to discover and create."]

["Tonight is a safe night. Wishing everyone a pleasant evening in the New World."]

The image on the big screen disappeared, replaced by a simple "Sweet Dreams" text and a warm city background.

"Oh God, I really have arrived in heaven.

"This is the eternal resting place of the soul, the final abode of the kind-hearted..."

A plainly dressed middle-aged woman continuously made the sign of the cross over her chest, her eyes brimming with tears, emotionally overwhelmed.

As for the others, their reactions varied.

Some had faces of joy, while others were filled with anxiety.

Fu Chen looked at everyone, seemed to hesitate a little, but finally cleared his throat and said loudly:

"Everyone... Can we quiet down a bit and listen to me say a few words?

"Most of us probably still don't know exactly what's going on, about how we ended up here, or what this so-called New World is. It's still full of questions.

"But based on the current situation, for some time to come, we will all be living together in this community.

"So, I propose that everyone make a simple self-introduction, just to get to know each other, and then discuss the known community rules.

"This might help us in getting along later.

"Of course, this is just a suggestion and not mandatory.

"What do you think?"

Fu Chen looked around at everyone. The previously noisy atmosphere quieted down, and many nodded in agreement.

No one stood up in opposition.

Fu Chen adjusted the frameless glasses on his nose and said, "Alright, then let me start.

"I am Number 1, Fu Chen."

As he spoke, he displayed the visa emblem on his wristband, proving he wasn't lying about his name.

"25 years old this year, as you can see, male.

"My original job was an online streamer, mainly streaming outdoor content.

"As for how I got here, I completely don't remember.

"My last impression was doing a 48-hour non-stop streaming challenge. I seemed to have fallen asleep from exhaustion, and when I woke up, I was in a pure white room.

"After waiting for two hours, the door finally opened.

"I followed the road to this building and checked in."

Fu Chen seemed to be trying to make his tone light and humorous, especially when he mentioned "as you can see, male," seeming to expect some reaction from everyone.

But unfortunately, most present were still in a state of tension and guardedness, so no feedback was given.

"Then next, why don't we do introductions in order of our player numbers?"

Fu Chen suggested, looking at a slightly plump woman with a flushed face across from him.

The slightly plump woman nodded and took over, "Hello everyone, I am Number 2, my name is Jiang He, and I used to be a newspaper editor..."

Lin Sizhi listened carefully to everyone's speeches, and soon, everyone finished their introductions.

Some were talkative, others introverted, and the information they shared ranged from much to little, but at least basic information such as age and occupation was fully covered.

Number 1, Fu Chen, male, 25, online streamer.

Number 2, Jiang He, female, 31, newspaper editor.

Number 3, Li Renshu, female, 29, civil servant.

Number 4, Cao Haichuan, male, 39, criminal investigator.

Number 5, Cai Zhiyuan, male, 28, algorithm programmer.

Number 6, Wang Yongxin, male, 36, startup company owner.

Number 7, Qin Yao, female, 24, fashion model.

Number 8, Su Xiuqin, female, 52, retired worker.

Number 9, Xu Tong, female, 32, human resources manager.

Number 10, Ding Wenqiang, male, 53, courier.

Number 11, Yang Yuting, female, 27, company executive.

Number 12, Lin Sizhi, male, 26, lawyer.

As for their process of arriving here, it was quite similar for everyone.

They all experienced short-term memory loss, waking up in that pure white room, and after waiting 2 hours, received a visa and arrived at the community to check-in.

But no one mentioned any experiences like Lin Sizhi's "designing games to judge criminals."

Lin Sizhi, being the last to speak, naturally omitted this part of the content.

Fu Chen was silent for a moment: "So, does anyone have any thoughts on our current situation?"
