Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Qi Refining

The general content of the Cyan Wood Evergreen Technique had been read by Chu Ning long ago. However, at this moment, he still took out the booklet and carefully read through the key points of the cultivation technique multiple times.

After ensuring he had thoroughly memorized all the key points of the meditation breathing, Chu Ning finally put down the booklet.

With his eyes slightly closed, he began to sense the presence of Spiritual Qi, as described in the cultivation technique.

The first step to transform from an ordinary person to a cultivator is to introduce Qi into the body, formally entering the Qi Refining Stage.

To accomplish this step, one must first sense the Spiritual Qi, and then further disperse and sense the Wood Attribute Spiritual Qi from it.

Both sensing and introducing Qi into the body are related to one's aptitude, which is related to the Spirit Root. The higher the grade of the Spirit Root, the easier it is to accomplish this step.

Chu Ning possessed a Four-Attribute Pseudo Spirit Root, so under normal circumstances, this step would not be easy for him and would typically take several days.

If one's aptitude was slightly worse, ten days, half a month, or even a whole month might not be enough.

At this moment, Chu Ning, with his eyes closed and his mind gradually calming down, entered a mysterious state. In just a short while, he sensed the faint Spiritual Qi surrounding him.

Among this Spiritual Qi, a cyan wood attribute Spiritual Qi appeared particularly prominent in his perception.

"Is this really sensing the Spiritual Qi?"

Chu Ning was startled and almost withdrew from the cultivation state.

Fortunately, he quickly gathered his spirit and maintained the state.

Originally intending just to sense the Spiritual Qi, Chu Ning now felt the distinct wood attribute Spiritual Qi and instinctively moved on to the next step.

Introducing Qi into the body!

Following the mantra of the Cyan Wood Evergreen Technique, Chu Ning adjusted his breathing.

The drifting Spiritual Qi around Chu Ning quickly became orderly. A wisp of Wood Attribute Spiritual Qi separated from the surroundings and entered his body along with his breathing.

Introducing Qi into the body was something Chu Ning accomplished effortlessly.

At this moment, Chu Ning was not thinking about these things; his mind was completely immersed in cultivation. He guided this wisp of Spiritual Qi through his meridians into his Dantian.

The Spiritual Qi washed and strengthened Chu Ning's meridians, and finally, a very thin wisp of Spiritual Qi was left entering his Dantian.

The originally empty Dantian began to circulate a very thin wisp of Spiritual Qi at the bottom.

Subsequently, thread after thread of Spiritual Qi continued to pour in.

When these threads of Spiritual Qi coalesced into a wisp of Magical Power and settled in the Dantian, Chu Ning's body trembled slightly, pulling him out of the cultivation state.

Chu Ning realized that his heart spirit was not sufficient to continue supporting the cultivation.

However, there was not the slightest regret in him.

Chu Ning was able to clearly sense the transformations that had occurred in his Dantian, giving him a clear understanding of his cultivation state.

Qi Refining! First Layer of Qi Refining!

He had completed the Qi refining into the body on his first cultivation attempt, officially entering the First Layer of Qi Refining!

Looking at the hourglass in the room, it had only taken about an hour.

"Perhaps even a Celestial Spirit Root is only so-so! Is this the talent of the Yin Wood Spirit Body?"

Chu Ning sighed internally, glancing at the cultivation progress in his mind.

[Cyan Wood Evergreen Technique (Yellow Tier Lower Grade), First Layer (1/300)]

This single cultivation session had increased his proficiency by 1 point.

Chu Ning, of course, did not think this meant that the Cyan Wood Evergreen Technique was easier than the Nine Tigers Body Refining Art; there could only be one reason.

Yin Wood Spirit Body!

"This talent is really strong!" Chu Ning marveled internally.

Recalling another function of the Yin Wood Spirit Body, "The Wood Attribute Magical Power cultivated can shield from prying eyes, showing the strength and weakness of Magical Power at will," Chu Ning quickly found that he could control his magical power aura at will.

With just a thought, he completely concealed the aura of the First Layer of Qi Refining, appearing as a mere mortal.

Chu Ning's eyes shone brightly as he realized this talent was incredibly cunning!

Perfectly suitable for his current status as a Servant Disciple; if one completed the Qi refining into the body in one day, everyone would know he had a secret.

After all, for a Pseudo Spirit Root disciple to complete the Qi refining into the body in a day was too shocking.

"For these days, I'll first observe others' cultivation progress and reveal my completion of the First Layer of Qi Refining at an opportune time."

Chu Ning made up his mind, tidied up the booklet, and then went to a blissful sleep.

Perhaps due to the cultivation of the technique, even though he went to sleep late the previous day, Chu Ning awoke full of energy the next morning.

Thinking about it, Chu Ning chose not to cultivate the Cyan Wood Evergreen Technique again but instead practiced the Nine Tigers Body Refining Art.

After all, he didn't know when Cao Dongxin might summon him for something, and he didn't want his cultivation of the Cyan Wood Evergreen Technique to be interrupted. The Nine Tigers Body Refining Art was shorter and could be stopped at any time.

The Nine Tigers Body Refining Art had already been practiced to perfection, but Chu Ning found that going through the routine still made his body feel more comfortable.

"It seems this Nine Tigers Body Refining Art can still be practiced." Chu Ning thought to himself.

At that moment, he vaguely heard the sound of a door creaking open and knew it was Cao Dongxin leaving his room, prompting Chu Ning to quickly open his door and step out.

"Good morning, Senior Brother!"

Although he already knew about Cao Dongxin's eccentric personality, Chu Ning still greeted him politely, as he would be under his supervision for the next three months.

Cao Dongxin saw Chu Ning and snorted coldly.

"From now on, wake up half an hour early every day and make breakfast."

"Understood, Senior Brother," Chu Ning replied without any further comment.

"I'll go make breakfast now."

However, Cao Dongxin said, "No need, we are going to the fields now."

No breakfast? Chu Ning quickly realized that Cao Dongxin had probably eaten something inside the room.

Fortunately, Chu Ning had prepared in advance, otherwise, he would be starving.

He took out two pancakes, which he had specially bought and brought from Cyan Creek City in the last two days; these dry pancakes are durable and wouldn't spoil over time. He bought twenty of them.

Cao Dongxin's expression changed slightly when he saw Chu Ning take out the pancakes.

Chu Ning pretended not to notice, smiling at him, "Would you like one, Senior Brother?"

Cao Dongxin said nothing and directly walked out of the courtyard, while Chu Ning followed, munching on the pancake.

After walking about half a mile, Cao Dongxin stopped at a field.

Chu Ning gazed at the field full of a kind of pale red rice, feeling quite curious.

"Could this be Spirit Rice?"

He considered asking Cao Dongxin but figured it would be pointless given his character, so he remained silent.

After all, if anything needed to be done, Cao Dongxin would say something.

However, Chu Ning was a bit puzzled as Cao Dongxin just sat at the edge of the field, doing nothing and saying nothing.

And he sat there for almost half an hour.

This... could he be deliberately trying to deprive Chu Ning of time for cultivation?

Chu Ning's heart was filled with suspicions.

Just then, he heard voices gradually approaching, and he turned to look.

It was his talkative neighbor, Senior Brother Shang Zhaoxiang, accompanied by another person, a new disciple named Qiu Shunyi, who had joined them the day before.

When they saw Chu Ning and Cao Dongxin, Qiu Shunyi also noticed them.

At this moment, Shang Zhaoxiang spoke first, "Oh, Old Cao, you're here early again today, I see?"

The tone carried a playful flavor.
