Chapter 819 - Chapter 329: Professor Potter Beats the Toad

After the Divination class, Harry ushered in his first teaching experience of his life.

Saying he wasn't nervous would be a bit of a stretch, after all, a bit of guidance at the Dueling House is a whole different feeling than teaching an entire year of classmates in a classroom.

To his surprise, Umbridge actually moved a little stool and carried her clipboard into the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.

"It seems that you are not the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor for fifth years." Harry politely reminded Umbridge she was in the wrong classroom.

"Indeed not." Professor Umbridge maintained that nauseatingly fake smile, "Though I'm no longer teaching you fifth-year Defense Against the Dark Arts, I am still Hogwarts' Senior Investigator, and it's necessary for me to investigate if you, Mr. Potter, are truly suitable to be the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."

Harry admired her as well; this stupid toad really has thick skin.

"If you had a proper standard for judgment, perhaps you wouldn't be standing here now, but at the podium." Harry said sarcastically.

However, Professor Umbridge wasn't angry at all and instead spoke fluently, "Whether you admit it or not, Mr. Potter—I am teaching here using methods approved by the Ministry of Magic, which does not include encouraging students to express their opinions on matters they don't fully understand."

"Perhaps previous teachers gave you more freedom in this class, but none of them passed the Ministry of Magic's investigation — except maybe Professor Quirrell, at least he seemed to only teach content appropriate for your age group—"

"Yeah, Quirrell was an amazing teacher," Harry retorted, "with only one small flaw, he had Voldemort stuck to the back of his head."

"I need to reiterate to you that you've just had a few nightmares, Mr. Potter." Professor Umbridge stood there, her tone unwavering, "You believed your dreams, but the fact is, Voldemort has not returned—how could someone who died possibly resurrect? Or are you fabricating this lie for another purpose? Who instructed you to do this?"

At this point, Professor Umbridge not only showed no apprehension but rather stood even more confidently.

"Is it Dumbledore? Or some foreign influence?"

"What foreign influence?" Harry laughed, "The moon?"

Professor Umbridge chuckled oddly and sat back on her little stool.

Nobody knew what she pressed, but the stool elevated a backrest.

Harry glanced at her, said nothing, and walked straight to the podium.

Students gradually entered the classroom, and upon seeing the pink toad, they all showed surprised expressions and then looked at Harry.

Though no one asked, Harry felt their questions were written on their faces.

Did this toad win the revival match?

"Alright, let's start the class." Harry cleared his throat and told the students, "In my classroom, you don't need to mindlessly say anything like 'Good morning, professor', nor do you need to mindlessly say 'I understand, professor' — the main aim of this class is to train you to survive under dark magic, not to cultivate a bunch of parroting idiots who just know how to quote scriptures."

Umbridge still remained unfazed, even staring straight at Harry with her trademark fake smile.

"Alright, Professor." Everyone laughed as they said.

"Now, what you need to do is throw away that damned book." Harry tapped the blackboard with his magic wand, "I don't want you to become giants in theory but dwarfs in action—I want you to integrate theory with practice… Now, I need you to answer a question, if I want to disarm an opponent's magic wand, what kind of magic spell would I use?"

Hermione raised her hand high, afraid Harry wouldn't see.

Following her were some students in the classroom, including Ron and Draco.

"Mr. Weasley." Harry used a rather formal address, "Tell me, what is this magic spell?"

"Disarming Spell, Professor Potter." Ron stood up and answered earnestly, "The spell is Expelliarmus."

"Very good, very good." Harry clapped and indicated for Ron to sit down, "Gryffindor gains two points—then, if I want to resist this spell, what should I do?—Mr. Malfoy, you answer this question."

"Dodge." Draco answered.

"Very good." Harry nodded and said again, "Besides dodging, if I ask you to counter it with a spell, what kind of magic spell would you choose?"

"Iron Armor Spell, Professor Potter." Draco replied swiftly, "The spell is Protego."

"Very good." Harry clapped his hands, nodding to Draco: "Well answered, Slytherin gains two points."

The Slytherin students applauded, for Draco and for Harry's fairness.

"So, who can explain the details of the Iron Armor Spell?" Harry asked again.

Now, the only one remaining with their hand raised was Hermione.

"Miss Granger." Harry signaled Hermione to stand up and answer.

"The inventor and the time of invention for the Iron Armor Spell are unknown to us now." Hermione accurately answered: "The Iron Armor Spell is a spell that can resist various spells. It can create a magic barrier to deflect spells and physical entities, thus protecting specific persons or areas. Summoning talismans sometimes get bounced back toward the direction of the caster, sometimes dissipate or deflect upon hitting the magic barrier."
